Let me start by saying I have never written an online review before ... but I felt compelled to do so after doing business with Southeast Railing. In mid-July I contacted Paul at Southeast Railing to get a quote on replacing my front stairs railings. The railings were old but the steps are fairly new (less than five years). He came and looked at the job and on July 28th sent me a quote for $2,450.00. The price seemed fair and included them taking out my old railings and installing the new ones. On 7/28/22 I sent him an email stating I would like to move forward with the project. No response. Over the next three weeks I left several messages asking if he was still interested in doing the job? Still no response. Then on August 18th, he called me apologizing for the delay and said he had been in Ireland for a death in the family... I offered my condolences and felt that was an important reason for the lack of communication. He said my railings were ready for installation the next day August 19th. I was thrilled to hear this and was looking forward to it. On Friday the 19th the company arrived - not Paul but the installers. They started preparing the steps and took the new railings off the truck. Big surprise ... the railings were the incorrect size and DID NOT fit the stairs. Unfortunately, the installers spoke no English so we were not able to communicate. After waiting about an hour Paul finally called back and again was apologizing for the mix up saying the fabricator didn't read his measurements correctly. By then the installers had left and the only information that I could gleam from them was that they would be back the following Monday to install new railings. Paul confirmed this. Monday, August 22nd, same installers arrive ally bright and cheery. They started working at installing the railings. Occasionally, I peek out to see how things are going. Railings seem to fit... they seem to know what they are doing. At the end of the installation, I come out and look at the railings....and was pleased. Again, due language barrier there wasn't a lot that was said. just a thumbs up and smiles. After they left it rained for the rest of the afternoon. Next day, Tuesday, August 23rd the weather had improved and I went out to take a closer look at my new railings... and to my shock - my granite stairs were cracked. The installers cracked my beautiful granite and glued the piece back on! The rain had washed away all the dust and dirt they had created during the installation and now I could clearly see the crime. Neither one of them mentioned it during the process and just left without a word...sneaking off. I sent Paul a polite note - not looking for renumeration but to make sure he was aware of what happened and my dissatisfaction. No response again... and I suspect I will never get one. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. read more

I needed a hand railing on the front of my house as one of the requirements for getting a loan. I found this company through a neighborhood online platform. I called and the owner, Bob Devoe came out, measured the area and gave me an estimate on the spot. I felt very comfortable with him, he was personable and I felt that he would do as he promised. After talking with Bob, I knew that this was a small job compared to the work they perform for their commercial customers. The price was very reasonable, the workers were courteous and they finished the work in a timely manner. I was very pleased with the entire process and the railing looks beautiful. Within three weeks, the installer came to install the railing. The installer was an expert and measured and re-measured to make sure everything aligned. I had a great experience with this company. I called. The owner (Bob) called me back. He was out to my house within a day or so to estimate the job. The price was very reasonable. He was very up front with me in telling me that it could be as long as 4-6 weeks before the railing came in and could be installed. And then they showed up and installed the railing in just about 3 weeks. Better than on-time. Total amount matched the estimate exactly. And they communicated very well with me. Do not use this company!! They told us about 4 weeks for our railings. At 5 weeks with no word, I started calling them for an update. No one returned my calls for days. Finally got someone on the phone and they said they were coming the following Tuesday. Then they never showed up with no call. Finally reached them again and they said oh sorry we'll be there Friday. AGAIN didn't show up or call! At this point I asked to speak to the owner since they had a big deposit from me and I had no idea if I was even getting railings. He never called me. Finally people showed up a week later to install the railings. Total wait time was 8 weeks. Double what it was supposed to be. This company doesn't care about customer service AT ALL! read more

Owner, Bob, came by the home for a consult, mind you, it was a couple hours later than the time frame he gave me but I desperately needed these railings done b/c I have steep stairs and small children. Fast forward to now and I'm still waiting for the railings. No email, no phone call, no text...I'd even take a fax message at this point. He disappeared from the face of the earth. Since then, I've already had my railings assessed, painted, and completed in less than 48 hours by a professional company that knows how to treat paying customers. read more

Starting with Bob the Owner who never answers calls, but will take your money. He promised me 5 week turn around. It's been 9 weeks. I called to check on install and no one returns my call. A frost is going to begin this weekend. The stone has to be heated to 55 degrees before installation and I guarantee they won't do that. I'll make sure. I see myself going to district court today to file a lawsuit for my money. The mail box is full for voicemail. Not a good indication. I would never recommend this company to anyone. There are other horrible reviews for this business. I didn't see it initially. Shame on me. read more

I called Bob to inquire about railings installed for my mother's home. He extremely courteous and promptly scheduled an appointment to take measurements and make suggestions for railings. I requested a rush as my mother can not go on stairs without assistance. He was extremely helpful and promised they would be done in 2 weeks Since a pipe had burst I no hose for water for their drill, no one was available in the neighborhood. The installers gave me their cell to call them if I got in touch with someone with a hose. When I called they were able to come back after their job and installed the railings. They were extremely professional and helpful. I could not say enough nice things about Bob and his installers. My mother is thrilled with her railings read more

My stair railing came out great!! They quoted me 4 weeks to the install the railing & got it done in 3 weeks.

At first everyone was prompt with estimates and call backs. I was told it would take 6 weeks to fabricate and complete my railing. After the contract was signed and the deposit was cashed I did not here from anyone. When it got to be around the 6 week mark I called and emailed. I left multiple messages with no return call. I finally got in touch with someone who said they would be out the following week and I would receive a call the night before, that didn't happen. When it got to the two month mark I emailed and called again at this point temps had dropped below 40 degrees and I had stressed that I wanted the work done before it got icy. The next day Rob the installer showed up at my house (no call the night before as I had been told). Rob was great. He was very apologetic about the customer service. He installed my railing but it had started to rain so he promised to come back to touch up the paint. It ended up snowing so he couldn't come back right away. Then I got the remainder bill. Paint still not done so instead of trying to call the office I sent Rob a message and he came right out to finish after telling me he was told the "other crew" was suppose to come paint. So long story short I would probably not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Update: Soon after posting this review the owner called me to discuss my railing order. He was very apologetic about the delay and the lack of responsiveness. He promised to have my railings installed later in the week and he delivered as promised. The railings are as ordered and they look very nice. I have upgraded my rating to three stars for the railings and the installation. I also thank the owner for getting back to me personally. My complaint is similar to the others. This company apparently does not care about being responsive to customers. In October 2015 I contracted with the company to fabricate and install some very simple railings for my front walk in order to help my husband get in and out of the house. He had a stroke and requires railings. I was assured that the railings would be available shortly after I had the rented wheelchair ramp removed. This is a safety issue that has been noted by my local police and fire department, which I said I had under control. It's now three months later and I still have no railings. I send emails, which are NEVER returned, and call every other week. I often get told that someone will get back to me within the hour and that doesn't happen. When I do manage to speak to someone, they assure me that they will be calling early the next week to schedule the installation. No one calls me for scheduling and no one shows up. They tell me that they are very busy and that they have mobilized their whole team to get installations done before the weather makes it impossible. Seeing that it's now almost February, I presume that they will not be coming here any time soon. I have asked that my deposit be returned so that I can pursue another vendor, but have not received any response about that. I will give them one last chance to make good and then I will consider taking legal action. read more

Don't waste your time. All they will do is waste your time. I paid them $20,000 to fabricate gates and install fence about 6 years ago. I paid them within a week of receiving the invoice. They did not anchor the posts properly and the gates started to hang lopsided. I called over 18 months ago November 2014 - too cold to chip out and re-pour concrete. They never got back to me. Other gates started to sag. May 1st this year - owner Bob Deveaux says very busy can't get back to me for 4 weeks. June 10th - Deveaux says it will be a few more weeks, but he'll send out Paul Quinn to quote it. Paul comes in person, quotes the job, and says the springtime rush is over and should be there in a week or two. Quote $650. July 6th - After the phone tag process described below, Danny says they will will be there at the end of next week (7/14 or 7/15). July 15th - no one has shown up. Bob Deveaux tells me it's the government's fault. The gov't is making him give employees time off; turns out he read the rule wrong and refuses to pay his employees for the time he gave them off. Now they are boycotting him or quitting. Thinks he'll just close up shop and rely on the income from the real estate he owns. He's 65 you know, and he's sick and tired of the gov't sticking their nose into small business. When you call for service or order status (press 2), you get a voice message that says to leave your name, phone number and project address - and they will get back to you in 24 to 48 HOURS ! ! If you press "1" for Sales, you get a live person, Danny. But Danny says he doesn't know anything, he just relays messages to other people (who DON'T get back to you in 24-48 hours). I had to initiate every phone conversation. They never called to say they would be there. Only if I persisted through the PRESS "1" for Sales option, did I get a real person to talk to . . . . and, then I might get a call back read more

I am extremely disappointed with Bob. I placed an order on June 3-2018. It is July 22-2018, seven weeks later and have yet to received my railing. I have difficulty using the stairs and need the railing for assistance. I have e-mailed with no reply. I will be asking for a refund, like that will happen, what's wrong with companies that take a sizeable down payment but never get the job done when promised. read more

Called southeast railing and left message for a quote , bob called back a day later and made appointment to look at the job and gave me a instant sketch and quote and showed me the samples he would use , gave deposit and 4 weeks the railing was installed to perfection. South East Railing and Iron Works is a very difficult company to work with. We purchased two custom railings on September 20th and it is now December 9th and we have yet to receive them. Our deposit check was cashed and then we did't hear from them on the status of the railings. We called and called and no one answers the phone in the office and "Bob" the owner enjoys ignoring texts and phone messages. Finally, we got ahold of them (a month later) and we were told we could pick up our railings on Monday or Tuesday of November 25th, 26th. Low and behold my husband took a half-day on Tuesday and drove to Canton to pick up the railings. GUESS WHAT? THEY WEREN'T READY. Now they expect him to take another half-day to go get them. Telling someone something is ready means it's ready not that it is covered with wet paint and can't be put in a car. We have a newborn and my husband cannot be wasting half-days because some people don't have their shit together. Anyway, here it is December 9th and we can't get ahold of anyone to find an alternate time to pick up the railings. There is also a chance the railings won't go in until the Spring now because they need to go in when it's warm, which of course now it's not. So if you need railings and want them in a timely manner DON'T USE SOUTH EAST RAILING AND IRON WORKS!! If you want to have your money stolen go for it! read more
