Parking can be a bit of a headache at peak times because the lot is small and shared with a GameStop, Great Clips, Massage store, mattress store, GNC and a Starbucks

Okay all of you hard core lushes out there, test your knowledge on this cool site:…read morehttp://www2.potsdam.edu/hansondj/FunFacts/ItsTheLaw.html PENNSYLVANIA In Pennsylvania the tax on wine and spirits is called the Johnstown Flood tax because it was imposed in 1936 to raise funds to help the city of Johnstown rebuild and recover from a devastating flood that year. The city of Johnstown quickly rebuilt and recovered but the tax still continues. It currently costs the taxpayers of the state over $160,000,000.00 each year. This Wine & Spirits is another one that I stumble into from time to time. Blame it on the Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Ah Alcohol baby... Oh Please! Inside of a fairly new shopping complex, this store offers a little more than the Wine & Spirits in the Trevose Shopping Center. For one thing, you can find better champagnes and they carry Limoncello. With these shops being run by the PLCB, it still amazes me how the prices can differ from store to store for the same product! The hours here are 9:00 to 9:00 Monday thru Saturday. Always closed on Federal Holidays and on Sundays. Other fun facts from the link I added: The U.S. Marines' first recruiting station was in a bar. One glass of milk can give a person a .02 blood alcohol concentration (BAC) on a Breathalyzer test. That's enough in some states for persons under age 21 to lose their drivers license and be fined. So don't call me a lush when your kid is! Oh, I wonder how a Limoncello Milkshake would be?

The ambiance is cold, the inside reminds me of being in a old hospital or post-office. The selection is limited. We were unable to find 3 out of 4 of the items we were looking for. Like the other state-controlled alcoholic beverage stores, you can only buy wine & spirits (you can't buy beer, you have to go to a distributor or bar for that). The employee staff is barely friendly. On the opposite end, when you visit a privately owned place such as Total Wine & Spirits (located next to the Cherry Hill mall in New Jersey), you will find everything you are looking for (at a competitive price). You will get free wine samplings.... you can purchase both beer AND wine at the same location. This is one of a few things that New Jersey does right (privatization of alcoholic beverage stores is the only way to go). Another example would be the Wine Works store in Marlton, NJ. The staff is often found in the aisles, ready to assist you; offering suggestions and answering your questions ........ this is customer service that is not found and most of the state-controlled liquor stores in PA. No Thanks

He followed with "Yes i do mind".... I thought he was joking so I then said "So I can't take one?" and he said (SO rudely) "no. It's over" and then continued on. I am fully aware the tasting was over and was willing to pay full price for the wine but after he was so obnoxiously rude to me I walked away because I was shocked. He must have been having a really bad day and needs to work on his people/customer service skills. He made me so angry and upset that it ruined my Friday night. Will not be returning to this location and will be telling everyone I know to go elsewhere.

Normally, I spend a good bit of money here...buying for dinner parties, out to byob's, special occasions and holidays. However, today, I bought a few bottles of wine. I went to the register that the older gentleman was at and put my basket on the counter, because, I wanted to get my money out first, when I looked up, the man was looking at me and I said that is it. I thought maybe he thought I was buying more?? Then he replied to me, "If I can take the bottles out of the carry basket. I said, "Oh! You could have taken it out since he was waiting. He said they do not do that. I looked at him and said, "we'll, they did before," and he replied, "Not at this store." I said," Yes, they have. " What a gentleman!? Then I said, "May I have a box, and he proceeded to say that they do not have enough boxes because everyone wants one. I looked over, and they had plenty. Then he was saying about bags and I can purchase one. Regardless, this was poor customer service etiquette, and what place was it his to tell me in so many words that I could or could not have a box to stick my bottles in? Sure, I juggle a few in my hands/arms with a purse and risk dropping them. Then are you going to cover the monies I spent on them. I always went to this store, but never again. You got me once, but you won't get me twice. Where is the greeting when you walk in the doors and the employees are just standing there behind the counter doing nothing or talking with another associate? This comes down to, again, poor customer service etiquette again! You think that with everything going on with the economy, etc., you would want to welcome people with open arms. No money or less money made....no paycheck or less money in paycheck.

From the moment I approached the counter, it was clear they were not in a good mood. There was no greeting, no smile, and absolutely no attempt at basic customer service. Instead, I was met with an unfriendly demeanor and a tone that made it seem like I was inconveniencing them by being there. I understand that everyone has bad days, but as the face of the business, it's important to at least make an effort to treat customers respectfully. This kind of negativity makes for a very unpleasant experience, and honestly, it made me want to take my business elsewhere. Aside from that, the store itself is okay in terms of selection and cleanliness, but the atmosphere is completely ruined by the lack of warmth and professionalism from the staff. It's a shame because this could be a decent spot if the customer service improved. I hope the management takes notice and works to address this issue because first impressions matter, and this one was far from good.

I just read that other review and all I can say is I've had nothing but really great service from here. Most places RUSH you out of the store 15 mins before closing time, like the store right next to me, but at WGB the guys are willing to help you even if it's time to close. The only bad thing I would say is that their prices are higher than most and a small bottle of wine might run you 2x as much. But you take that into account for other things like them being open until 11:00 pm.
