Dirty Laundry Brighton

Dirty Laundry Brighton

First of all, I just have to say, I LOVE Rochester, NY. I used to live here, and it's always a…read morepleasure to come back for visits. People are just so friendly here! Dirty Laundry Brighton fits right in -- it is, by far, the nicest, friendliest laundromat I've ever visited! I've owned my home and laundry machines for many years now, so it's been quite some time since I needed to avail myself of a laundromat. A lot has changed since I last did so, and Dirty Laundry Brighton is a far cry from the big wheezy, unreliable machines, pocketfuls of quarters, watch-where-you-sit cleanliness and surly patrons (big city...) that I recalled. I walked in to smart rows of modern washers and dryers, a bright, cheery, air-conditioned atmosphere and quiet, friendly fellow patrons. I must have looked fairly out of place, because a sweet, motherly attendant quickly came over to offer me a hand. She helped me choose appropriately sized washing machines, showed me how the stored-value card system worked (no dealing with pocket change here, and don't worry, the card dispenser takes cash) and got me up and washing in no time. The laundromat wasn't busy, as it was early afternoon on a Friday, so there were plenty of places to sit and work on my laptop while I waited for my machines to finish. Yes, there is free wi-fi. No complimentary coffee (that was just about the only thing missing, and that would've been another first in a laundromat if there had been any, at least for me), but there's a snack machine if you get the munchies, and a nice little bistro with indoor and outdoor seating next door if you're really hungry. Everything was clean as a whistle, including the floor. Only two very minor quibbles -- so minor that I'm not docking any stars for them. One is that the only detergents available in the vending machine have fragrances, so those with allergies should remember to bring your own detergent. (But if you forget, there's a Dollar General next door where you can buy some, and a Tops supermarket that has even more.) The other is that the stored value card vending machine doesn't make change, so all you have is a $20, then that's what's going on your stored value card. But that's OK, because the card is yours to keep, and unless you're just passing through, as I was, you'll be able to use the balance during your next visit. Most importantly, my laundry was nice and clean and ready to fold in about 50 minutes. I don't know when I'll be back in town and in need of a laundromat, but next time that happens, I'm coming right back here.

Clean, good places to wait, and free wifi. They do also have a bathroom and the usual supplies…read morevending machine with a few snacks and drinks. I think the washers are a little on the pricier side, but still close to standard for larger size. You access everything with a card ($1) loaded by credit card or cash, which is nice except the card dispenser was broken when I was there and it was my first time here. Thankfully a nice guy was finishing up his laundry and passed on his card to me, which had $8 remaining and he refused to accept my quarters in return! The dryers are the style where you pay $0.25/6 minutes, which can be frustrating to guess how many cycles you'll need. They have the rolling carts to bring your laundry around and, even better, a few parking spots right out front for you to get up close!

However the laundromat is aged, the maintenance isn't the best and the machines are basic sizes. Recently I bought a new bed, a nice Queen size. It goes without saying that the bed wear is larger. The sheets I can wash here where I live, but the quilt is larger and won't properly fit in the washers here. So I had to find a good laundromat. 5 minutes from where I live is a newer laundromat, "Wash and Go". I went there Friday with my quilt. I'm familiar with the owners whom own the store right next to the Laundromat, the East Ridge Express, a convenience store. I did a story on them awhile back when they opened. The Wash and Go laundry they own is a nice laundromat. All newer washers and dryers. Very neat and well kept. The owner is a nice guy, and since it was my first time there, he showed me how to operate things. They have a variety of newer washers and dryers, large and small, a change machine, folding tables, laundry carts, and sitting chairs, and a TV. It's a bit more expensive than the regular $1.25 , $1.50 prices like where I live, but it's worth it. $4.00 is the minimal washing price. Drying is a bit more also. But you can wash and dry larger loads!!! I was pleased with the place and will go back.

Went here specifically to wash large bedspreads. The cost was rather high but the laundromat was…read moreVERY clean.
