I would have liked to stay here for more than a few hours as the views of Mt. St Helens in nearby. Another thing to note about this campsite is that is is under a tall tree canopy. It is really cool to wander the paths between campsites and look up at the massive trees. It was a pretty unique place to stay. PRO TIP: Although the showers are clean (and warm), they DO REQUIRE tokens. be sure to get some before you get naked (like I did)..

What a wonderful under the radar waterfall this is...Beaver Falls!…read more Located 6 miles east of Clatskanie, Oregon, this area near the Columbia River is beautiful. Let's get straight to the heart of what Beaver Falls is all about... If you plug "Beaver Falls Trailhead" into Google Maps, you'll have no problem finding it. Then just park along the side of Highway 30 and hike 1/3rd of a mile through the forest to the base of the falls. It's that easy. When I visited on a Thursday in early afternoon of July, there was hardly anyone around which was good for taking quality photos. Best of all, you can swim in the waters. So definitely bring a bathing suit, towel and a pair of water shoes so the rocks won't hurt your feet while entering the pool beneath Beaver Falls. The water is cold but once you jump in and get comfortable, it's a terrific setting. There's also a long rope where you can swing across and splash down below. It's great for kids (and adults too, lol) to have playful times. For me, I was content soaking in the pool and appreciating the surroundings. More info... - It's free to visit. - Cell phone reception works fine. - You can walk underneath the falls! This is a Must-Do. You can capture some amazing moments standing beside Beaver Falls. It's not hard or dangerous and offers a unique perspective. - Beaver Falls is just one of many outstanding waterfalls situated around Oregon and especially near the Columbia River. There's also Lower Lewis River Falls, Panther Creek Falls and Spirit Falls, to name a few. - You can spend a few hours hanging out or as little as 30 - 40 minutes. It depends on your time horizon. But overall, it's really pleasant to be here that I'd suggest bringing snacks, lunch and maybe having a picnic. This Beaver Falls is absolutely so much fun to hang out at. When you can swim in the waters, swing from a rope and even walk underneath the falls, It makes for a worthwhile summer visit.

Great stay for big rigs, but a few small things…read more I stayed here in October with my 46ft fifth wheel, and campsite 73 fit it comfortably with no issues at all. The site features a full hookup that worked perfectly. Just a heads up for big rigs, the sites only have 30 amp service and they pump the water from the lake itself so if you don't have a filter on your rv just know it's dirty. You can take a white 5 gallon bucket and fill it with water, you'll see right away it's dirty. Since it was October, the price was $45 a night, plus an extra $15 a night for an extra vehicle. It felt a little expensive for the off-season, but whatever. They charged $180 for 3 nights. A few things to note about the facilities and amenities: * Bathrooms/Showers: The bathrooms kinda smelt bad, but they were definitely usable. The showers work fine, but keep in mind they are coin-operated and you have to pay 50 cents every 5 minutes. * The Lake & Recreation: The lake itself is really nice. They have a boat launch, a dock you can fish off of, and nice trails along the water where you can walk. Biking around the campsites is also really nice. * Fishing: The salmon catch is good here, but some days it's very slow, like 2 fish in 8 hours. Some guy next to me caught two 4.5lb bass. I caught a ton of smaller bass and trout myself (though rarely trout, I think I only got 1). If you are looking for a great day trip, the Skyline Trail hike is about an hour away and it is absolutely amazing. I would 100% recommend doing that hike at any time of day!

August 21, 2025…read more Great Washington State Campground. Very lush and green with lots of Doulas Fir, western hemlock trees, and ferns. There are full hook up and dry camping sites. The full hook up sites are pretty sparse near the main road and there's not a whole lot of greenery. The non-hook up sites are spacious and have picnic tables and fire rings. I've completed the Little Mashel Falls Hike around 10 times since 2022. I mostly conduct this hike…read moreduring the spring season. For many people or those weather-prone or ill-equipped, it's really wet and cold around this time. However, it's the best time to go because this is peak flow season for the middle fall and the increasing of waterfall spates (volume) around the three falls. On this particular day (late summer), the falls were dry. In other words, the falls were reduced significantly and very marginal to say the least. As far as the trail, it's pretty straightforward. It's relatively smooth, with a very slight incline for approximately 2 miles until you reach the falls. Make sure you're consistently traveling to the left directionally of the path until you see a large stone/rock stage to the left, which leads to a trail to all of the falls. About 200 feet in, the trail begins a slight decline. From this point, the pathways to all three falls feature moderate decline on the way in and inclines on the way out. However, this is one of the easiest water hikes I've ever done that even your most novice hikers would find eventful. The biggest and most beautiful fall of them all is the Middle. Tips: Make sure to check the weather report before you conduct this hike. It's notorious for sudden inclement weather such as scattered rain/hail storms especially during the spring. If you don't pack the right equipment, you will be stuck in the middle of a painful hail storm. Bring a rain coat or poncho because it gets really misty around the middle fall and you could find yourself quickly getting soaked. Lastly, a lot of people get lost trying to find the trail to the falls. I posted a picture of the rock for your reference. This is where you want to take a left and go to the falls.

Mayfield Lake Park Review…read more We absolutely love Mayfield Lake Park and spend many weekends here during the summer camping in our little tent and chasing muskies. The staff is always friendly, professional, and hardworking, and they truly go above and beyond to make every visit enjoyable. The park is always spotless -- from the campsites to the bathrooms and park areas -- and you can tell the staff takes pride in keeping it that way. On this trip, we came across an injured feral cat near our site. Skyler responded immediately and professionally, setting a trap to help the cat. My son was able to safely get the cat into the cage, and the staff took it to an animal sanctuary. We were so impressed by how quickly and compassionately they handled the situation. Another example of their dedication happened when we accidentally left soap in the shower the night before. Ben was quick to check if it had been found (unfortunately, someone had walked off with my husband's men's Dove soap), but we appreciated his effort and quick response. We drive an hour and a half from our home to spend time at this beautiful lake, and it's always worth the trip. The staff truly deserve recognition for their dedication, hard work, and kindness. Mayfield Lake Park will always be one of our favorite places to relax, fish, and enjoy nature.

A very unique and beautiful area to visit!…read more The trailhead has a nice parking area, with bathrooms. The trail to the winding, aqua blue stream is wide and well maintained. You can view the main attraction from trails on both sides, as well as looking down from the bridge. We took the trails on both sides of the water. The trail across the bridge is much easier to traverse, and winds down to the (closed down) suspension bridge. The opposite side leads down beyond the suspension to the waters edge, but even to get down to that point isn't for the faint of heart. It includes a narrow, steep downhill trek...including a section over running water (with a wire handrail for support). Once you arrive at the water at the bottom you can view the suspension bridge above, and if you dare, the waterfall below. We did attempt to continue on a little ways down the trail from there, but as reviews describe, the next section is even steeper with a very loose and dangerous footing. I got vertigo trying to look over the edge at the falls right before that section, so continuing on was a huge no. I'm sure that many people without height woes have no issues moving on, but if you're like me, the trail ends there. This area is stunning. The waters and canyon are a site that pictures simply cannot do justice. Highly recommend!!
