The guide immediately asked his clients to reel up. Our fish got tangled up in one of the lines and he immediately cut that line so that we were able to get the fish in. We have finished at buoy 10 for many years and run into similar situations several time and the guide was unwilling to pull their lines from the water to help out a fellow fisherman, resulting in a lost fish. I feel that this is the one of the classiest things I have seen on the water. We have friends coming from Toronto next year and I will try to get them on his boat. He impressed me as a quality guide

Curtis didn't bat an eye and rather than canceling the trip he approached it with can do attitude "Lets GO"! We had 3 adults and 3 "kids" 10, 14, and 14. Curtis was professional, courteous, and friendly. It was a great trip. We limited out and enjoyed the day regardless of the conditions. As someone who has worked in the boat industry, I can attest to the quality, maintenance, performance, and attention to detail Curtis has put into his boat. If you have driven along SR-14 four miles east of Bingen, then you have driven through Rowland Lake, literally, since the SR-14 and the train track cut through the lake! It makes for some pretty spectacular photo snaps! When you turn onto Old Highway 8 there is a small parking lot and a few areas where you can pull over to take in the scene. Further up the hill on Old Highway 8 is a pull off area for even better views from above. If you are heading to Catherine Creek area or Syncline Wines, you will pass Rowland Lake. It's worth pulling over for a few minutes to take in the beauty. The north lake is stocked with trout, both rainbow and broodstock. There are two fishing openers: the first is from the last Saturday in April through the Sunday before Thanksgiving.; the second is the Friday after Thanksgiving through February. People have also caught bluegill, crappie and largemouth bass. Check their website for details. There is a small boat launch area; electronic boats only. WA access pass is required if you are spending time here other than just pulling over for a few quick pics. I walked around, took pics, then headed to Catherine Creek.

The bathrooms are clean, stocked and overall well maintained which is a huge plus for me because park bathrooms are usually pretty icky The trail is an easy peasy, 99% flat 1.4 miles with a few off trails leading to water access. This place is gorgeous on bright days but also on gloomy, rainy WA days. The girl at the booth who sold me a Discover Pass on July 4, 2016 was very friendly. She's the only park worker I've ever interacted with in the dozens of times I've been here. If you're in the area and looking for an easy and beautiful stroll, definitely stop in here.

The only problem was he delivered more than he had promised in terms of fun! How many charter guides call to ask you if you wanted to rebook due to the freakishly hot weather? None that I ever met before. Our schedule didn't permit that so we foraged on with our planned day and time. Owen's boat made everything easier and it was spotlessly clean! There were only 3 of us on the boat with him which is part of the reason I booked with him - he has a 4 person maximum. I despise being crowded and there is no way a guide can properly guide if there are more people than that anyway. There were a half dozen other boats on the river, but no one else was smiling! Owen was pleasantly engaging and new how to read those in the boat and kept everyone engaged. If you want a guide who can only get you to the right place with the right gear and equipment call Owen! On a 2 week trip to the Washington state, it is going to remain one of my absolute favorite events! Well maintained with porta potty and access to a limited area for fishing. Parking is limited on their lot but fishing can be none to excellent if the salmon are returning to spawn. If the salmon are returning, there will be combat style fishing (shoulder to shoulder) fishing.... They have a disabled access fishing spot just above Finch creek only if you are wheelchair bound and have a permit to fish. Saw quite a number of fisher people - mostly gear fishing - a few fly anglers. Direct access to the water from the stairs but since the water is cold, chest waders are the only way people are accessing the waters to fish. You can not fish from the edge of the walkway - you have to get in the water to wade and fish. I saw some newbies enter the area with shorts and tennis shoes expecting to fish but when they saw the other anglers with chest waders, wading boots, and hip waders; they decided to leave after trying the water out with their bare legs! So funny to see Washingtonians not know about the fishing conditions in their home state. Even as a visitor, I already knew this and had brought my waders and boots along.....
