I really hate leaving a less than 5 star review on a local business but unfortunately I'm a little disappointed in the service we received. I purchased two used bikes from friends a trek and Gary fisher. I took them in for a tune up. Letting them know both tires on the trek would go flat after a few days and there was a rubbing sound on the trek. When I came back they replaced one tube on the trek but said there was no problem with the other one. For the entire summer I still heard the rubbing sound and one of the tires was still going flat. We don't ride them often and I didn't feel like taking the time to go back. I went elsewhere this year for a tune up and found out the rubbing sound was the back tire was too large and was rubbing on the frame. I will say the owners were very friendly but I was disappointed in the two things I pointed out were not caught by them. I realize I did not call or take the time to bring them back in but feel like the time was not taken that should've been. Hopefully that I'll improve. read more

We were in the market for electric bikes and South Lake Cycle came through will stellar service, knowledge of the product, and no pressure for us to purchase. The added benefit of this place is that it is right on the Trail so we could ride the bikes on pavement, hard pack dirt and hills in a test ride. Mark and the team at South Lake Cycle define an awesome local bike shop. I've purchased a framed fatbike and a number of accessories with great service every time. Mark has even tracked down a few hard to find special items for me and given great advice on maintenance and modifications that should or shouldn't be done. I had an excellent customer service experience here. I was looking for a specific small component that I wasn't sure would fit my bike. Mark ordered two different styles so I could try them both out. I went into this bike shop today (have been here before) to see if they could fix my bike after I had an accident with it a few weeks ago, and the woman working there fixed my bike for free! It works great now. And she was honest, too; I asked her if she thought I needed new tires, and she said the tread was still good. She made me a customer for life! As everyone in my family has a bike, that makes four customers for life! Would highly recommend. read more

I ordered a part for my bike from this place since they didn't have it in the store. I was told it would be in in a day or two, then I was told their distributer had to order it and that would be a week. Went in to see if it was there and they said not yet and they would call when it came in. Two months later and I still haven't gotten a call. I ordered the part from Amazon and fixed it myself. These guys lost my business for good!! read more

New to biking. Wanted to upgrade to a fat bike. Did a little research and found South Lake Cycle. Mark is great at helping you navigate the many choices. Interestingly, he didn't push for the up-sell. He actually advised me to back down a model or two with the idea of upgrading components over time if I liked the bike. Then he called me and told me that the manufacturer was out of the bike I ordered and only had the next level up which he gave me at no additional cost. They are open today. Walked in. Nice storefront on Water St. Friendly staff. Hybrid and fat tire rental bikes available for nearby trails. Reasonably priced. We will return to rent another day. Hope to be able to add a star to the rating. read more
