Took my lawnmower there because it would not run after cleaning the Carb twice. They started it and in about 30 seconds they adjusted the throttle and it was fixed. They installed a new blade on it that lifted the grass and debris much better. I have had this mower for 4 years and it has never run this good. read more

Purchased a leaf blower from Home Depot which quit after 4 months, took it here to have it repaired. Was told there was a 3 month back log on parts. 6 months later tells my wife that they are no longer a repair dealer for Ryobi and that we owe him money. I went down and confronted them and they said the parts are coming. I told him don't worry about it, give my property back and I'll take it somewhere else. I was told they are not giving me back my property and get out of his business. Have escalated this with the police. Never consulted about cost involved nor given permission for additional repairs. Had to demand my mower back (unfinished or not) then it was magically ready a day later. I am the manager at a Pest control company and came to get a part for a rig that the owner said they had. The mechanic on staff was extremely rude and disrespectful and said they didn't have the part without looking. When I came back in to talk to the business to talk to the shop hand who was on the phone with the owner to complain about the behavior of the mechanic the mechanic got on my face and basically threatened me. Took Weed Eater in to jabs it tuned. Waited 2 weeks and called but they hadn't looked at it. Stopped by 2 weeks later, they said they were still working on it. I called again 3 weeks later, they said they replaced carburetor but the new carburetor was the one I installed previously. The owner said he didn't know what to do with it other than replacing the new carburetor again with charges exceeding the price for me to replace the weed water entirely. So long story short, they never called to let me know anything, they tried to say they replaced parts that they hadn't replaced. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Zero stars! read more

Consumers beware.... this shop ripped us off. Dropped off our edger to get repaired was told $99 plus tax to repair. Got called that it was ready 2 weeks ago, went to pick up and it was not fixed. Waited 2 weeks and no resolution. Kept being told waiting for parts. Called them today to tell them we are coming to pick up whether fixed or not. They then refused to give us our edger until we paid $143. This is pure dishonest and bad business! Be careful when you take your mowers/lawn equipment to get oil changed or blades sharpened you better inspect the work as it may not have been performed. Horrible Service. I took my mower in March to the shop, said they fixed it for $136. Still had the same problem, but also had white smoke burning off of engine. I took it back, told them the problem, and they did "said" they did the same repair (oil change, spark plug change, fuel replacement). Lawnmower still didn't work, and they wanted me to pay $57 to get my money back. I filed a BBB complaint. Use Youtube before these guys. read more

The guys at South County did it again. I went in with chainsaw that I couldn't start. After going through the basics we decided to drain the fuel and start again. A simple fix and got me out of a jam. The team here go out of the way to get to @the customer@ out the door with a machine you can use. They were wonderful. I took my pressure washer there and they were awesome. The gentleman said your motor is not working correctly. They determined that the engine was still under warranty. I never had to do anything, they contacted Honda, got me a new motor, and put it in my pressure washer. Guess what, I didn't pay one penny!!!! They did it all for me. The entire process took about two weeks. Two weeks are a small price to pay for a brand new engine. These guys are awesome!!!! read more

Had our weedeater for a month, and when they called us to pick it up the first time we drove up, they wouldn't actually let us have it because it wasn't working. The second time they called us, they were first rude on the phone as though we just abandoned our equipment, then when we arrived, we discovered it still wasn't working right. I found this business near my house on Yelp and saw the recent positive review and a couple of older bad reviews. Robert diagnosed a timing problem on my trimmer and set about adjusting it and making it run better than it ever has before. He also quickly diagnosed that my Honda mower had a seized up and dirty carburetor. He cleaned it up and actually surprised himself when he saw that he had fixed the problem so quickly. I know it's not normal, but he had fixed both of my items within an hour while I was there. I am on the way home and ready to get after my yard to make it start looking good again. The price was extremely fair and I have found my small engine repair place in the woodlands! Those older review did not reflect my experience. I am a very happy customer. read more

Just got insulted & told i had no clue how to run my blower. Was told it helps to turn it on! Who talks to customers this way? I've run this particular blower twice weekly for years & know how to start it. Would not drive 15 minutes unless there was a problem. Well it started for them so maybe it was flooded but still no reason to continue to insult the customer. Rip-off artists. I had a feeling. I brought in a mower, told them I'd pay them for their time to diagnose the problem (gushing oil and smoke after a few minutes of running.) They wouldn't do that; they like to initially like to clean it up, sharpen the blade I'd already just sharpened, do stuff I don't want, and charge $95 for that. Any fixes that $95 is applied towards the fix, but that they'd first diagnose the problem to make sure it's worth fixing. I called a few times until they said it was ready for pickup. Got it home. Started it, it went maybe 10 feet before gushing oil and smoke. It's still in my garage, next to the new mower I bought to replace it. Will donate it to a school small engine repair class or someone else who is honest and competent in case it can be fixed and used by someone. read more

I have taken several power tools to these guys over the years including a lawn mower, leaf blower (2-cycle), Honda weed trimmer (4-cycle), power washer and a Honda 3500 watt generator. They never had more than a 2-day turnaround, and I don't remember anything costing more than about $70 (my leaf blower - a month ago). Terrible service. Dropped off a Greenworks power washer in June 2017. Was informed a few weeks later that machine was not repairable, but because the machine was under warranty, Greenworks would be providing a new one, complete with wand, in 4-6 weeks. Never received anything. Left a message every couple of weeks until August when I decided that they were inept and had no idea what they were doing. Finally received a call from them in late October that my power washer was ready to go. Of course I had already thrown away the old wand because I was supposed to get a new one. Rep said that old manager had quit and they had no record that i was supposed to receive a new one. Basically said, our employee screwed up, but there is nothing we can do. This place was HIGHLY recommended to me in the reviews I found. I am a single woman and at the time knew nothing about mowers (after my experience at this place I taught myself) thinking I was going to a great place that was honest and reasonably priced. SO WRONG!!! I brought it in and they said $100 to service it and get it running. I thought that was high and they said that included everything that the engine needed, oil change, carbonator cleaning etc. I reluctantly said ok. The price really bothered me and I went back after hours to ask them to wait on repairing the mower. Johnny was there already working on it. I talked to him and asked a few more questions and he said that he was lubricating the throttle cable and had already replaced a gasket that he wouldn't charge me for. I felt like hey, I guess the reviews were right and they just raised their prices. I went to pick it up and the bill had skyrocketed to $127. The owner Robert I think, said I had to pay for the oil, lubricant (we're talking WD40 here for $4), $8 to fill the tiny engine, $6 for the oil AND he charged me for the gasket that was supposed to be free. I was shocked needless to say, but I went ahead and paid it. I talked to a guy that used to work there and he said Robert was the new owner. My friend said he had left the shop. Well, apparently they have changed their policies since the reviews I read were written. Being a single female I have been taken advantage of before. I guess it happens. My advice is to NOT DO BUSINESS with these people. There is a place on I45 access road that does honest and good work at a fraction of the cost. I normally don't write reviews but this was such a bad experience that I felt obligated to do one. BEWARE!!! read more

These guys were awesome. I was helping my neighbor get his generator started after sitting for 4 years. We discovered the carburetor was all gummed up. We disassembled it only to realize the gasket was a single use. We rushed to search for a gasket, called around and this shop had one in stock. Drive by to pick one up and had the guys fix a pull start on another generator at the same time. They had several dozen generators they were working on before the storm. After we got my neighbors generator running, we began tackling mine. Eliminated all possibilities but the carburetor on mine was a little more advanced than my experience allowed me to diagnose. Took the carb into their shop and they knew exactly the problem immediately. He took the carb to the back, did a little Magic and in 5 minutes he said I was good to go. We stayed and chatted a bit, talked about what kind of rush they were going through. They have a good group of guys over there and I will definitely be visiting again if I need any small engine work. read more

Dropped off expensive generator the first of June. Hadn't been started in a while and carb had gummed up. Called after a month and they said it needed a new carb, ok. Called a month later and their tech who was working on the unit was gone, ok. Called a couple of weeks later and was told they'd get back with me the next day, ok. No call. Dropped by Tuesday this week and was told the jets in the carb needed drilled out, what about the carb you ordered? Oh, you didn't. Said the unit was designed for up north. What? It's a 10 year old unit, ran fine until I left gas in it. Oh, then we'll jump on it Wednesday and clean the carb, ok. Called Wednesday, the next day and they were busy. Called Thjursday and they were getting a gsket, ok. Popped by this morning (as Harvey is approaching) and picked up an absolute mess. Said it needed a carb. Do yourselves a favor and be aware that these guys cannot be trusted. read more

Brought my line trimmer in and was told it needed a carb job and said it would be $70 and it would be ready in 2-3 days. Followed up about 5 times, some with Robert, the owner and kept being told it was sitting in pieces on a table. Lied and said there weren't any customers going in front of me. So everyone was waiting a month for their stuff also? Then admitted he was taking customers in front of me and said "they have to be in the right frame of mind to work on it" and that it needed a kit. Finally after OVER A MONTH, I called a 6th time and in like an hour, it was miraculously done. Go to pick it up, and it has the wrong gas cap on it which is leaking everywhere! He pulls one off another and says he lost mine. I go home and to use trimmer and have gas leaking all over my legs and grass so brought it back up there. Guy says they put the wrong gas lines on there, owner says he'll tell employees not to charge me. I go to pick it up, they try to charge me another $50! So I tell them to call owner and I take trimmer home. Then it starts to shut off when engine is hot, so take it back. One of the employees, Eric, accuses me of "stiffing" him, curses at me, calls me a liar when I say that the owner was supposed to call him and we can both call him right now. Just calls me a liar again and says he won't fix anything. I call owner to tell him what happened, left a message on his voicemail and he never called back. So 5 weeks, took 3 trips, got called a thief, and no call returned from owner, for a trimmer that still has a problem. RUN FAR, FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! read more

I took my mower in for repairs to this company, South County Small Engine Repair. A guy named Joel told me it would cost $100.00 to repair. I felt that was a lot & asked him if it was worth putting $100.00 in it, he told me yes, that it was a good lawn mower & that I would get at least three more years out of it. After picking it up and paying $114.20 it would not start. They told me to bring it back that I had a 30 day warranty on it. When I called to find out what was wrong with it, he (Robert, the owner) said the engine blew a rod. He would not refund my money (not even part of it) but said if I leave it with him, he would see if he could find an engine for it and he would put the money I gave him on it. when I called back (always me doing the calling)he said he had found an engine that would work but it was going to cost me another $75. I told him I did not think it was fair that he wanted more money out of me and to not do anything. I ended up buying a new lawn mower. I went up there to pick up my old one & the kid who helped me asked me the first time asked me what I was going to do with it and I said I didn't know that I brought a new once since it didn't run. He said it works, turned around to show me and it started right up!! I asked him why the owner said the engine was bad & he looked like he made a mistake by telling me & then said, well the engine is going, but you will probably get another year out of it!I spent $114.00, plus the expense of having my lawn mowed twice while I waited on mine & purchased a new lawn mower to find that mine runs fine. I feel I have been scammed. I tried calling the owner Robert numerous times, I always goet told he is not in & he won't return my calls.
