Cannot say enough good things about South Bay Pools. Jiman and Pablo did a beautiful job on our plaster and hard scape project. They have their own crew (do not outsource most of the job - exception concrete hard scape and coping/tile), I was impressed how polite they all were, and how hard they worked staying late to get the job done, ALWAYS cleaning the job site. The end result was a beautiful finish on time and on budget as proposed. They are reasonably priced and just enjoyed their professionalism, how often they visited the job site to check on the progress and communication with us. I highly recommend. We love our new pool. Thank you Pablo and Jiman read more

5 Stars called Pablo and was pleasantly surprised that he was able to come out the same day. He was knowledgeable, professional, and easy to talk to--I felt like I could trust him right away. He'll be coming back to inspect my pool equipment more thoroughly since my spa jets aren't working and the heater keeps turning on and off. What really impressed me was how quickly he assessed the situation and gave me an immediate quote to replaster the spa and repair the missing tile. He's clearly experienced and committed to getting things done the right way. I appreciate his prompt attention, honest communication, and willingness to work with me to get my spa looking and functioning like new again. Highly recommend Pablo if you want fast, dependable, and professional service! read more

NON-responsive and ghosted.....I cannot speak for their workmanship as they never did the job. I was planning on hiring Pablo to do my pool replastering, but when I decided I wanted to have a permit pulled for the work, he completely ghosted me. I left 3 text messages and even gave him an out to say he no longer wanted the business so I could get other quotes and he did not even respond to that. I suppose it is best to know ahead of time that the person you hire will not be responsive. read more

Pablo and his team just completed a job resurfacing our 25 year old pool. We had both the tile and the finish changed to a beautiful pebble tech. The job was done in 7 days, none of my landscaping was affected, the team cleaned everything every day before leaving. I recommend giving them a call if you're looking for high-quality work at a reasonable quickly and efficiently. A really great team!! read more

After seeing this company's good reviews on Yelp, and in particular the good comments for Pablo, I chose it for a pool resurfacing job. I am dissatisfied with how the project went and my experience with Pablo has been poor. For the project, I saw Pablo exactly three times: for the estimate, for the first payment, and for the second payment. He is a good salesman but does not follow up his words with action most of the time. If he promises to include extra things for free during the estimate, don't be taken in -- that's the salesman talking. He did not deliver on *basic* things like informing me of which days the crew will be onsite and finding replacement parts. After you have paid in full, you can expect that you'll not get anything from him afterwards, even for basic things like providing a final statement. As for the crew, they were polite, accommodating to my requests, and hardworking. But they left bits of construction waste and other trash around and did not clean them up at the end. Crew members would spit on the ground. I'm very tolerant and understanding (there's a lot of dust) but my basic expectations of a professional crew were not met. The resurfacing work itself is ok, I guess. Time will tell. I don't expect that they will honor any warranty claims, given my experience with Pablo. read more

Pablo and his crew did an absolutely outstanding job on our old and outdated pool. We first contacted Pablo when our pool lost a significant amount of water during a 48 hour period. He quickly arranged for a leak detection specialist. After the problem was diagnosed Pablo gave us a few scenarios to address the issue. We ended up going with a complete remodel of the pool itself. What made South Bay Pools so impressive to us was the non-stop effort put forth by all of the crew members who came during the various stages. From demo to plumbing to masonry to plaster to maintenance these guys never slow down! Very, very impressive. A pool is not an inexpensive project but Pablo is honest and reasonable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

Our pool was in serious need of new plaster back in October of 2024. I obtained several quotes for the work required. While South Bay pools wasn't the least expensive, I decided to go with them. They began draining my pool on a Sunday, and Monday the demo crew arrived. These guys spent a couple of days stripping out the old plaster. They took out all debris and left the entire yard clean on each day that they worked. Next was the new tile Installation and then the new plaster installation. Pablos crew showed up with a large mixing / pumping truck in the front yard. One guy remained on the truck mixing plaster and colorant for a Tahoe Blue plaster finish, and pumped it through a long hose to the back yard. There were 5 guys in the back yard applying and spreading the fresh plaster as it was pumped to them. I also went with new LED lighting. By Friday I was filling up the pool. These guys completed the job in just 5 days, and the yard was left immaculate! The pool turned out great. I'm glad I chose Pablo and his company for the job! read more

Requested a service for pool removal since September 2024. I tried going through their phones (constantly unable to leave a message due to full mailbox), no response from email, poor response time through Yelp. Pablo was unprofessional with his responses, or should I say lack there of. Pablo came to my home for inspection back in October 2024, gave me a quote over the phone a week later, then I never heard from him again once I asked to sign the contract. Contact them only if you want to get ghosted by a company. If I could give a zero start rating, I would. read more

After an initial hiccup with communication, Pablo and his crew worked productively in resurfacing our very old pool, including new coping, and a new cement pool deck. I was most impressed with Pablo's recommendations for the Pebble Tec surface, tiles, including accent, the coping, and cement color. In the end, we have a beautiful pool, complete with color changing lights for night swimming. We are very happy with the work done by Pablo and his crew. If you're looking to upgrade your dated or deteriorated pool, I highly recommend Pablo and South Bay Pools. read more

We went with Pablo's business based on recommendations by friends and seeing the work they had done on their pool. Pablo and team were very professional. We had our 23 year old pool resurfaced and the tile cleaned removing all the years of calcium build up. Scheduling was a breeze with the crew arriving everyday on time and cleaning up after they left. Quality work and a reasonable price. read more

Pablo and his crew did an amazing job on the remodel of our pool. We had put it off for so long and got several quotes over the years and finally ended up going with South Bay Pools. From start to finish, Pablo was attentive and was very transparent. They got the job done in record time and we couldn't be more happy with our pool. Pablo is a man of his word and stands behind the quality of his work. We would recommend Pablo and his crew without hesitation. read more

South Bay Pools just finished updating my pool and spa. They got rid of the old, deteriorating plaster and replaced it with a beautiful mini pebble finish. They also replaced all the tile and did some minor repair work. I could not be happier with the results! I've hired a lot of contractors over the years and had a lot of bad experiences, so I was nervous going into this project. I'm so glad I hired South Bay Pools! Pablo, the owner, was wonderful to work with from beginning to end. I had a million questions and concerns and he was very patient with me and did a great job explaining the whole process. He also took the time to meet with me on a weekend to show me a pool he had recently finished. After I hired him, he was able to start within a couple weeks. The renovation went smoothly, and all of his team members were excellent. They worked quickly, were really skilled craftsmen, and were courteous and polite. They even made a special trip to get me a particular grout color I wanted for the tile. The whole team definitely went above and beyond! Pablo is trustworthy and dependable, and I have no hesitations recommending him to all my friends and neighbors. I was impressed that he came back on a Sunday after the job was done to help me fix a problem with my spa. (He knows his stuff!) A lot of contractors will not come back after they are paid, so I appreciate the commitment he has to his customers. Whether you need a new pool, an update, or a repair, you should absolutely hire South Bay Pools. (Check out my before and after photos. The pool looks EVEN BETTER in person!) Thank you, Pablo! TL; DR: Hire Pablo for your pool needs, you won't be disappointed! Where should I start? I moved to Gilroy not too long ago and I inherited a pool maintenance service from the previous owner. However the pool person was not too forthcoming when I asked questions. So I decided to find a new one. From the initial quote Pablo was punctual and reliable. He answered all my questions (since I'm a complete novice when it comes to pool maintenance) and explained to me everything. He even fixed our little pool vacuum free of charge! He quickly made my pool super sparkling clean and inviting again. He doesn't stop there either, he taught us about how important it is to keep the pumps shaded to ensure their longevity. We've been with Pablo for almost 2 yrs (ever since we moved!) and not once he's been flaky. I've been really comfortable with his quoted price and I trust him to keep our pool maintained (and a splendid job he did on that!). Give him a try, at least ask for a quote. You'll see why we've been a long time customer! read more

We live in South San Jose and our pool was in desperate need of resurfacing (original plaster) and general repairs. We got a number of estimates from contractors, and while they weren't the cheapest we received, we went with South Bay Pools because of the good impression and conversation that we had with Pablo. After coming to the agreement and a few more discussions regarding material type and tile preferences, they started draining the pool almost immediately and within about 10 days, the pool was filled and looking brand new. The only thing he recommended that we do in addition was to replace our deck seal around the pool, which admittedly looked pretty worn. We also had them replace our sand filter with an easier cartridge filter and repair some leaks on our solar heater. They worked quick, did a great job, fairly priced and we would recommend them for anyone looking. read more

I wish there was an option for 10 Stars because Pablo, owner of South Bay Pools runs a 10 Star Company! During the first meeting Pablo gave us great ideas about what would be the best outcome within out budget. We love the tile. We love the pristine white plaster which looks crystal clean. When we interviewed three companies for bids of re-plastering our pool we did not need to think too hard about who we would pick. Pablo did EVERYTHING he said he would! He exceeded timeline estimates of the day he could start, and the completion date. Pablo kept us abreast every step of the way and he stayed on it daily through completion. He also exceeded our expectations at every level and in every part of the job. His crew was always polite and cleaned up every day before they left. The crew almost worked as though they were a well choreographed ballet . . . without words they each did their part in the overall performance of our beautifully finished "new" pool. It truly looks like it is brand new. If you are looking for a new pool, or to have your pool re-plastered, or even for weekly pool service, we highly recommend South Bay Pools! I will post the before and after pictures of our pool! RD and DD May 8, 2023 read more

I have used this service after having issue who built my pool being responsible for contract responsibilities. These are who they say they are. Their pool service is very reliable. They clean my pool every week. If I have a question I call, and get a response and what's up. His father was in this business before him . He is not the cheapest, but he comes when I ask, and gives me honest information. And then he does it. I wish I had heard about Pablo sooner. I had issues with Pentair system . He has come over several times to help me reset this system when it would turn off & on on its own. Heater also. I could not have a better pool specialist. And Herman his pool service specialist is the nicest guy. read more

Shortly after making contact with this company, Pablo came out to give me a quote on repairing and retiling a spa wall. He was friendly, professional and easy to work with. The quote was reasonable, the work was done as promised, and it looked good. I decided to try their cleaning service, a first, after over 30 years of doing it ourselves, and it was a good decision. Pablo and his team kept the pool sparkling clean, and they were always within the 2 hour service time window they gave me. They even circled back the next day a couple of times when I forgot to unlock the gate and left the house on a service day. I have since moved from the home and no longer have a pool, but if I did, I would use South Bay Pool and Spa again with no hesitation. read more

In 2017 we moved into our home initially with pool issues and and by default had this existing pool service handling the pool maintenance. After a year or so from moving in, I met Pablo Espinosa. Pablo not only serviced our pool, he monitored it for issues like it was his own. Pablo eventually convinced me to add a retaining wall and a few features to my pool. I couldn't have been happier with the results. Thank you South Bay Pool for your continued outstanding services. read more

We have a 30+ year old pool in Palo Alto that was leaking as a result cracks in the skimmers and cracks in the concrete/gunite. I contacted 5 pool contractors before I settled on Pablo and his father. I can't say enough about these guys. Pablo's father is a veteran in the business - he had insights on our pool that no other contractor had ever identified. And Pablo is a professional - responsive, good communicator, sets realistic expectations. They were not the least expensive of the proposals I got - but it was competitive and you could just sense they were going to do a good job - which is important for a major pool repair - you need to get it right. Here's what I liked on how the handled the project: 1/ It was done in 1.5 weeks....major project end to end, 2/ the finish work around the replaced pool & spa skimmers on pool deck was perfect - not easy to do, 3/ they found another crack in gunite after removing plaster and didn't charge me extra to fix it, 4/ they left the backyard clean/tidy after every workday and power-washed everything when job was finished. I've done dozens of construction / repair projects in my life - this was probably one of the best. read more
