Ordered online and was shipped the wrong product and went in to try to exchange it to get the right product which was in stock and was told by the manager that I can't return products bought online at their store. Fred is rude and should not be in any position to communicate with patrons! Twice he has been rude in person, unable to communicate accurate information or admit he doesn't know the answer. I have recently gotten him on the phone where he preceded to chew what I assume was gum after I tried politely to let him know that I couldn't understand what he was saying. As a new pool owner it's hard to get wrapped up in finding a good place and people you can trust. I came here because my dad trusted this company. So when I need chemicals for the pool things are a bit pricy but I'd rather get the stuff that I know will work. And if I upkeep the pool. It's not to bad. They have helped me in a few situations where I thought they'd upsell me but no. Told me what I needed, how to use it and how long it would take. My pool goes green each time. Looking at a few reviews I think all companies have a customer service issue. Depends on how hard you want to look at a person to find flaws. We are human, I've never had a bad experience here. I've had to wait, because people are in front of me. I learned years ago the world does not revolve around me. And when they get a minute they have been polite and said hi. Even when I bring my obnoxious 2 year old in there Brian and staff have been easy going while I rein him in. I purchased a solar pool cover on-line for in store pickup. My gf waited until the Gilroy, Ca store opened this morning to pick it up, and they could not find it in their system. I sent a pic of the confirmation and receipt. The Gilroy store did not give her the cover and said they would call when resolved. She called multiple times during the day to check on the status, but the Gilroy store had no answers. I called when I got home from work and the Gilroy store was still not able to figure it out. The Gilroy store said they were calling corporate and would call us back. They closed the store at the end of the day with no call back. I have been heating the pool all day for the holiday and birthday weekend for the kids and did not want to lose all of the heat put in today. I am very disappointed in the customer service. read more

Agreed, too bad we can't give zero's indeed. The employees here are completly incompetent! Stood in line for 20 mins because the employee had to run to the manager everytime a customer had a question. Same sane dumbass employee is the one who told me my product was in stock over the phone. I asked him to make sure before I drive there, he assured me. When I get to the store, another employee tells me it's not only out of stock but also discontinued! The guy over the phone saw the empty display cans on the shelf thinking that was the actual product. I wasted an hour half of my time of driving, including my wasted gas!! read more

I love shopping at this store. The people are very courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. I called today to see if they had my Hayward pool water temperature sensor. They said it would be special order and bring in the old one so we get the right part. It would cost $125 or more. I would really like to shop local, but I bought the part on Amazon for $30. It will be here in 3 days. After tax that's $100 or more price difference. I just can't take that big a hit. read more

Wish I had a "before" and "after" pic of my spa, but just look at the pics on the 5/6/2017 review... We've had our spa for 2 months and have already drained it once. I've read our spa manual, read info online, spoke to people who've had spas...to no avail, spa kept turning green... I called to tell my story and to see if I could hire someone. Vanessa asked me to bring in some of my spa water to test to see if she could make some recommendations that could help. Even on the phone I could tell she was knowledgeable and actually cared. I made the trek to Gilroy and came out with my head exploding with knowledge! She gave me a printed sheet with some info, but in addition, she spoke to me in a language I could understand...and she could understand me...which isn't easy for most folks (I have a million thoughts a minute) . I bought some product, but she was not pushy at all! I did what she said to do and wallla...spa is crystal clear. I will do my best to keep it that way, but if not, it is nice I know where to go to get help. Leslie's happens to be at my favorite shopping center in Gilroy, which makes the trip that much better. One star is a very generous rating. The manager is rude and the assistant manager is incompetent. They sold me a pool skimmer that did not work. I returned it the next day, but they charged me 15% restocking fee. I tried to explain to the assistant manager that it did not work, but she refused to even listen and told me: "you put it in the pool and that mean you used it and we need to charge you 15% restocking fee." I honestly placed the skimmer in the pool for less than 15 minutes and it did not move at all. I do not know if it is bad or incompatible with the pool materials. But seriously, how would anybody test the pool skimmer without placing it in the pool. I only hope that they will test this skimmer in a pool before they put it back on the shelf. I was going to upgrade the pump, filter and the heater through Lesli's, but I am taking my business somewhere else. read more

Called Leslie Pools for a certified service tech to service our pool heater after a dismal experience with American Dreams. Why I never realized they provided quality repair services for over 60 years is beyond me. They were courteous, on time, next day appointment was available on the day I called. Best part, the tech was able to actually fix the pool heater. Their costs were well below other "service techs" in the area (I say sarcastically because everyone else just told me I needed to replace my pool heater). My only complaint would be their lengthy appointment windows (mine was 12-5 on a Monday) but they made up for it by being exceptionally communicative the day of and were able to notify me they would be early and arrived promptly at 11:30am. I definitely recommend over all other service companies in our limited area. Trust me, I tried everyone in 17 years of being a pool owner. read more

Went in to buy a Polaris back up valve and the saleswomen told they didn't have any. When I found some she told me the were knockoffs and didn't work well. I figured how bad can they be after all Polaris equipment breaks all the time anyway so I bought one for $70 dollars. Unfortunately she was right it didn't last a week. Wish I could give a zero stars. Customer service is terrible. Manager is rude and would not waive a restocking fee on a pool vacuum that would not work with our pump. He said it was put in the pool so he had to charge this fee. But how can you test a product without putting it in the pool? That was $75 bucks gone for nothing. read more

I had a really great experience in there today. I went in with a broken hose for my pool pump booster and Leslie's didn't have it in stock. Having a broken hose in your pool equipment sucks because the pool likes to drain itself to where your pool equipment is supposed to be. Brian came to the rescue and pulled the hose out of one of the booster pump replacement kits and sold it to me to get me out of my bind. He could have just told me too bad so sad. Thank you Brian. Too bad we can't give zero stars. Avoid this place if at all possible. Even though I knew their pricing was higher than Lowe's or the internet, I thought it was nice to have a pool supply close by so I tried supporting it when possible. That's until recently. About 3 weeks ago I bought a pole that extends. After a few uses, I noticed that the holes were splitting and eventually it would not work. I took this obviously defective product back the next time I went and was told that because it had been more than 14 days, they could not do anything. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Then it was further explained that they will not allow any returns, exchanges or refunds no matter what the reason after 14 days. I will never buy another non chemical from this place again. Unbelievable! Hopefully someone form corporate will read this and get a clue. Long live Home Depot, Lowes and Costco. That's who will get all of my business read more

I give these guys one star for their friendliness, one for the free water testing they do any time, and one for the convenience of having just about any item you need right there. But there is no questions they are overpriced and will try to sell you stuff you don't need. I was sold two different products to remove the stains from my saltwater pool, neither of which worked. One stain remover required me to turn off my chlorine which led to an algae bloom. Then they sold me more chemicals to remove the algae. In then end I spent over $200 and I still have all of the stains I started with. I advise you to find a good pool professional for advise, do your own research online, and check online for better prices. One thing to be aware of though, don't get your Muriatic acid from Lowe's, it's very watered down. Leslie's is the only place you can get acid that is industrial strength. read more

Just visited this store for the second time as a pool owner and we know nothing. We were helped by the store manager Brian and he really helped us out a lot. Gave my husband all kinds of info in cleaning the pool filter and maintenance, sold us what we needed and nothing crazy that we did not red. They were super busy, being on a Saturday at 2:00 pm, and he made the time to explain all kinds of rookie info. I had a coupon for $10 off a purchase of a certain amount and he pointed out to us that if I spent $10 more we got $30 off, I never even noticed so it was a win win. The most important thing he taught us was that it is very important tone careful opening the filter as not to get hit with it hard in the face from the pressure and most importantly, to shut off all power at the fuse box to eliminate risk of shock while soaking wet!
