WONDERFUL PLACE!!!! I dealt with the owner James. He was extremely knowledgeable, pleasant and a very nice person to talk to. My 2008 Mazda needed additional keys. There were issues with the initial keys (absolutely not South Bay Lock's fault. Entirely mine.) James went above and beyond normal business courtesy. He took time to show me the problem and a solution was found the next day. My keys were finished the next day, perfectly. Additionally, his price was excellent. I have not done business with South Bay Lock before, but they will certainly get my business moving forward. read more

I needed one of smart keys programmed and cut for my 2017 Honda Accord. After thorough searching online with multiple vendors, South Bay Lock came through. Quoted price and customer service was above my expectations. James was friendly and communicative via Yelp. In person, Pat & James were very helpful, friendly & patient. They had to reprogram my existing smart key with the new one I purchased online. They accepted walk-ins and was in and out within 1 hour. Definitely recommend this place as an awesome alternative for programming FOB/Smart Keys for vehicles to avoid the dealership costs. Thank you James & Pat! Very pleased with your service! read more

I was referred to South Bay Lock by another locksmith company that couldn't make a chipped car key for my Toyota. Scheduled the appointment over the phone and they were right on time. Tim was super fast and friendly with making me a new key and programming the remote for my car. Maybe 25 minutes after he arrived it was all done. Since I had him there I asked if he could help out with programming a new remote for my 1990's Chevy Suburban that I bought from somewhere else a long time ago, but I couldn't use because it I didn't have the specific tool to code it to the car. Tim pulled out his magic programming tool and took care of that for me at the same time in LITERALLY 2 minutes flat. These guys are great and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who asks me where to get a new key or remote programed to their car. read more

My experience at South Bay Lock and Security has been pleasant and easy going. The remote key to my car has been giving out on me about once a year. Having to not only buy a new battery but also re program the thing over and over again is pretty annoying especially when it just stops working out of no where!! Anyways the beautiful people at this place were kind enough to really help me out in a stressful situation and Im truly grateful for the friendly helping hand and excellent customer service whenever needed. Thank you guys again for your generosity its much appreciated especially during these times read more

Helpful and trustworthy. I needed help replacing a door and ignition cylinder after a thief's unsuccessful attempt at stealing my car. From the first conversation, Savannah was genuinely helpful, even offering suggestions on where to source the part I needed that was nowhere to be found. Tim did the replacement and my car is now back in businesses as if it never happened. Tim was also helpful and informative with all my questions. Where I encountered others who tried to take advantage knowing that I was in a helpless situation, Savannah and Tim were both amazing. read more

An odd day came across when I lost my single key to my car in shopping center! How can I drop and lose a key 60 ft from my car to Wing's stop picking up lunch for the office?!? I flipped my car and the street upside down and still can't find the damn key!! I was afraid to leave the car alone to go get my spare key at home (and no one was at home to help me) because what if someone was watching and picked up the key and just waiting for me to leave so they can take off with my car... I mean "What If, right?" So I called AAA for help and they send George & Joey's Locksmith to me. They got to me in 90 long, hot and dreadful minutes, they arrived in a van. Unbelievable that they made a key without "a" "key"! Astonished they removed my door knob and program one w/ their equipment and program a brand new chip in the key on the ignition. (I thought only the car dealership can do this!) Within 20 minutes, the a brand new key was made!!! TA DA!.. Voila!! as easy as 1,2,3! Cost me more then 1,2,3 though. $250!! but Triple A covered $60bucks of it! Although it was a break in the piggy bank, but it was all worth it!! .. Fast and effective service, and most of all didn't even know that service was available and legal... LOL! read more

Tim did excellent job! He help me with everything I needed! Definitely recommend SOUTHBAY Lock!

I found South Bay lock thru a referral from my usual lock smith that did not cut the type of key I needed. I had purchased the aftermarket blank from Amazon only to find South Bay lock stocks the factory blanks for the same price I paid on line. The owner , James knows the automotive security side of this business like no other lock smith I've dealt with before. I am long since retired from the automotive industry and our conversation was stirring up recollections and facts of the progression and generations of factory automotive theft security so I know that he knows his stuff! James also left me with a plethora of knowledge I didn't have when I walked into his store. James and his staff will walk you thru your situation and you will come out a knowledgeable and informed customer. South Bay lock and security is my new lock smith for my automotive needs and emergency's. read more

These guys are awesome! I called them because I locked myself out of my car and the Ford dealership wouldn't help me without me jumping through a lot of paperwork hoops, towing my car to them, and charging me an arm and a leg. These guys came right out and opened my car. I had planned for them to cut keys, but they urged me to check to see if there were spare keys in the car. I did, and there was! So they only charged me for coming and making me a spare key! The guy that came out was really helpful, super fast and I paid under $200 for all the trouble. My bill from Ford would have a lot more! I highly recommend these guys. read more

This company has been serving the South Bay since 1994. And they are still providing their services today. Almost had a good decent day. Went to lunch over at Sushi 21 in San Pedro. Good Sushi, good services, go there! Haha! But back to the main reason. After having to drive to the restaurant, having my lunch and walking to my car. Found out I lost my car keys between the restaurant and my car. May have dropped it in the drains or it may have been picked up by someone. I was in a panic. Searched everywhere. No where to be found. And I though my car insurance would cover car keys. Apparently they can open your vehicle only, sad. But understandable. Long story short. Me and my cousin called South Bay Lock and we found out they had a mobile unit! And that is where Tim, from South Bay Lock & Security, showed up. Thanks to him and his mobile gadgets! I was able to get another set of keys and copies! And get home in time to find parking! So worth having a mobile company that can help you out when you need them. Just like the saying goes, "Not the hero we wanted, but the one we needed!" FYI. To those who think it cost to much for a replacement. Keep in mind, this is Los Angeles and this company has to come through other locations. Other than San Pedro and the South Bay. Especially for the mobile units. They have to get the codes and everything in order to get your vehicle up and running. They are worth every penny! You may have to wait awhile for them to show up. Took them awhile for them to show up for me. But I am a man of patience. Thanks Tim! He is also a great person to talk with. read more

I accidently broke the only key I had for my 2001 impreza yesterday. I went on yelp and found out that this place is local and came today right when they open. 9am. They were able to make me a new key out of my key that broke in half and they were able to give service with a smile as well. The price was fair and affordable. $10minimum to use your card. I was in and out in just 5 minutes. As for the new key itself. It starts the car way better than the old key did. No more jiggling the key to start. I am now able to open my wagon hatch with the new key as well. I highly recommend this business. Please support your local business :) read more

Mon., 03/22/21 (yesterday) - unfortunately, dealing with a family matter that required my mom's nine (9) locks to be keyed to one master. I live out of the area but, was onsite to get this matter handled. I called four (4) different locksmiths to get an estimate for the job. All but one quoted me a specific price. South Bay was not the cheapest but, what I was quoted was competitive. I'm taking the time to set the stage because these reviews have proven helpful for me. So, here's the bottom-line: 1) Amy at South Bay Lock was the first person I spoke with. Her personal energy and professionalism were great! That is why I called back and went with them! 2) Tim, my technician, was awesome! Quick & on-time. Very knowledgeable. Very personable and professional (engaging but, focus on the task). The type of technician that would be the go-to guy I would want on every job! Great job Team South Bay Lock! Trust established! You don't need this review just keep doing what you have been doing! Continued success assured. Peace. :-) read more

so lucky to have found this place! I looked up every lock/ key location near me and they all had poor reviews; the guy @ Hamilton lock (only place w/ good reviews) was upset by my call and never actually called me back about setting up a time to meet like he said that he would. boo. but thank god he didn't, because the next day I walked into Smith lock, where they referred me ~here~ to South Bay! apparently my car key is a strange one-- scions aren't too common, and the remote I have was one that they had to order from Toyota. the guys were super helpful about it every step of the way, explaining to me the situation. they gave me a little receipt, told me they'd call when the key was sent to them, and a couple days later I came in to get it programmed. didn't even take them 20 minutes. and they gave me a non-remote key to have just in case I lock my keys in my car or lose them again, which is really what put them above and beyond. only negative: the cost was a bit over what they had quoted, but I can easily overlook this bc I'm so satisfied with the service. thanks guys! definitely wouldn't recommend any other place but here. read more
