Although the weather this year didn't produce the biggest strawberries, we got a huge basket of surprisingly sweet berries. The kids had a terrific time running back and forth down the long rows of strawberry plants, picking berries, and probably stomping a few hundred into jam as they ignored my pleas to not step on the plants. I recommend bringing your own bucket or basket for easier picking or you can use one of the buckets or boxes kindly provided by the South Barlow Berries staff. (But it's hard to pick while holding the large rectangular box.) The young woman who helped us was great in cheerfully explaining where to go and what to do. I mean, it's pretty simple, just pick berries and come back to weigh them and pay by the pound, but for those who've read my reviews recently, I am from Oahu where we can't grow berries due to the annoyingly year round sunny weather. So this whole berry picking thing is about as foreign to me as eating poi and reading street names in Hawaii would be to someone born and raised in Oregon. We got about five thousand pounds of strawberries for about five bucks. I don't know how we'll ever eat all these sweet and juicy berries but we ate them all the way home in the car and then for dessert. With the four thousand pounds I had left over I froze them in freezer ziploc bags to use in smoothies or just eat frozen. Where and when is a good place for blueberry picking? I'm so ready for another thousand pounds of berries!

Psh, Portland farmers markets are too "big box" these days!…read more Lol, I kid. But if you do want a fantastic Farmers Market experience, you must head down to Wilsonville on Thursdays from 4-8 and check out the Wilsonville Farmers Market. There is live music all night long, a variety of farmers offering great produce, and awesome local shops and foodcarts eager to please. Not to mention, cooking demos as well! There are some really super awesome Market Volunteers to answer your questions or help carry your new goods to your car. For their opening, they were doing a raffle for free produce for the rest of the summer! (hint: I hear that may be happening next week too). So ya, you should check it out.

This is a nice little market - a mix of farmer's market and neighborhood market, with crafts / soap…read more/ jewelry as well as produce, food stalls, musicians, etc. It's also in a lovely little park. It looks smaller than it is at first - the park has a small pond, and a trail that goes around the pond; the stalls are spread all around the outside of the trail, so not all are visible from any one point of the market. The trail is paved, and wide, and not that long - it's easy to navigate the market and not too crowded. I was disconcerted at first - I wondered where the farmers were at this "farmer's market" - until I got to the part of the loop where they had all been clustered. Keeping like stalls together makes it easy to compare options and prices.

Haven't visited since the summer and came during the winter season on such a nice day! Loved the…read morevariety of booths and offerings! Also really appreciated some of the booths offering samples of their products! I usually only get food when I come to the farmers market, but I was tempted get a bouquet of flowers because they have the best flower arrangements! Street parking is now no longer free but easy to use with Parking Kitty.

The Vancouver Farmer's Market is truly exceptional. In the late summer, early fall the fruit and produce is abundant! Juicy peaches, plums, cherries, the last of the blueberries and blackberries, rhubarb, eggplant, tricolored peppers, and beets fill the stalls. everything so colorful and delicious. Was excited to happen upon the Catnip Takeout booth filled with the most adorable handmade, felted cat toys that of course contain catnip. The owner gives you a takeout box and you fill it with the toys of your choice. She had veggies, mushrooms, hearts, eyeballs, bees, round balls, fruit- all adorable! since my house is very spa like with shades of cream, gray and blues, I was excited to find so many options in these colors. My cat immediately began batting the ball around the minute I gave it to her! The nursery here is the biggest and best I've ever seen at a Farmers Market. The variety of plants was impressive and all were healthy and thriving. they also sell sun catchers, perfect for inside a window or in your garden - every garden deserves a bit of whimsy imo. Lots of food carts serving a variety of cuisines. some are within the market, several more line the street on the outside of the market. The gyros caught my attention, the scent of grilled lamb everywhere. it didn't disappoint! I ordered the mega traditional which had extra meat so I could have half for lunch and the other half for dinner. Love that this market is open both Saturday and Sundays until 3pm April through October. Saturday they open at 9am; on Sundays they open at 10am. Parking is on the street, use parking kitty to pay. On a Sunday at 12:30 I had no issue finding a spot close by.
