Because of this, I have always been TERRIFIED of the dentist. Since going to this dentist, I have still, the same nervousness that I had before, but at least I don't dread going as much as I use to. He's great with kids, making them feel at ease and establishes trust with them prior to even going into the cleaning. Both our boys have gone for the first visit and had a check up and then waited a year before they had a cleaning. Both boys now LOVE going to the dentist and that's definitely a bonus! Couldn't ask for a better location or dentist!

I have a confession. I am one of the strange few people on this earth that actually doesn't hate…read moregoing to the dentist. I mean, it's not my favourite thing to do either, but I don't get that feeling of dread upon booking my six monthly checkup and clean. Since moving to Melbourne I have been seeing Dr Ling at Burnley Family Dentists (about 5 years now). And I have to say, he's awesome! Super thorough with his check-ups. Has all the latest technology (including X-rays) and even takes the time to explain stuff to you. All while you chill back and watch the perfectly positioned plasma TV to take your mind off the usual dentist chair noises! Might not be the cheapest, but then show me a dentist that is cheap! All I will say is that he definitely makes up for the more expensive cost by making it as pleasant and as comfortable an experience as possible, which is pretty difficult when you think about going to the dentist...so if you are overdue for a checkup and are putting it off, rip that band aid off and get yourself an appointment.

I obviously jumped on Yelp and Novadental had racked up all 5 star reviews, so I gave them a call and they graciously booked me in for the following day. The dentist was lovely, even if he did break my heart by telling me that grazing may be the best thing for your waistline, but the worst thing for your teeth. Darn decay. He was constantly checking in throughout the procedure making sure I was still comfortable, which was very reassuring. I was happy with the work, it was expensive like all dentists are, but would definitely recommend them.

Rob was really great explaining what Invisalign was and all its benefits - he was honest and answered all my questions directly and never made me feel pressured into committing to anything. I was very impressed with their service the first few times I was there. However on the last…read moreoccasion I was advised to have an onlay which is a half crown because there was a crack in my tooth. The cost of that was ridiculous but that aside, I would pay however much it takes to keep my tooth anyway. For some reason I decided to get a second opinion at another dentist and she did some x-rays and told me she couldn't see any crack. In fact, I needed fillings on other teeth and she even showed me the x-rays and explained my teeth issues. I was shocked!! Is K1 Dental one of those unethical dentists who tires to gain extra $$ by recommending unnecessary treatments???? .............I am going for a 3rd opinion. So people...please..don't be afraid to get a second opinion if you are ever in doubt.

Setting aside the slightly high price tag for the entire course, Smile Solutions does offer a great experience for what is usually an uncomfortable process. Since I've been visiting about 1.5 years ago, I've always had top notch customer service from these guys! One minor down side is that this is a huge establishment with a large team of dentists, orthodontists, and support staff, and rather packed schedules. As such, I've dealt with numerous hygienists and dentists (thank god my orthodontist has been the same!). This is mitigated by the fact that every one of the staff members I've dealt with are highly professional and deliver knowledgeable and amazing service! The Manchester Unity building is also one of the most beautiful refurb Art Deco buildings I've seen in Melbourne and Smile Solutions does a great job preserving the authenticity of this building while providing a comfortable environment!

It's a very relaxing space set up on the first floor of the historic art deco historic Manchester Unity Building in the CBD...it's worth a visit just to see the architectural features of this building! This is one fancy office. And yes, the other Yelpers are correct.... the lobby does smell like vanilla. My dentist and hygienist were both professional and did their genuine best to reduce any pain/discomfort. I had to get one of my fillings replaced, and opted to go with a porcelain filling, which they molded on site. It was a definite state of the art experience...this was the first practice I've been to that used cerec fillings...they digital scan your teeth to determine the shape of the filling and then 5 to 10 minutes later the filling is complete and ready to be placed in your mouth....no more sending a mold out to a lab, no temporary fillings, you're in and out quickly! The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 stars is the price. It's very expensive though I guess that's the cost of going to a Collins Street dentist.

I was very satisfied with my treatment. I was assessed and a plan ewas given to me with all the pricing I would be up for. My dentist explained that we could do certain procedures (more urgent ones) and wait on doing the other procedures. Everything was clearly explained and I was given information brochures on my dental problems. The staff were so very helpful and I highly recommend Greville dental.

I wouldn't usually review a dentist, but I feel this experience warrants it…read more I recently moved to the country/area, and needed to find a new dentist, which is usually a challenge for me because a) I hate going to the dentist and b) I like to think I'm relatively smart and appreciate the rare doctor/dentist that just talks with you eye to eye rather than at you. Greville Dental came up pretty quick after a search, it seemed like an okay place, so I went for it. I'm happy I did as I probably had the best experience at a dentist in my life. I was able to book the next day, I arrived on time, filled out a short form and was seen right away with hardly any wait. The dentist I saw - Shannon Yap - was friendly and direct and efficient and explained all that was going on in my mouth in clear language/detail, walking me through the X-Ray's after and pointing out a couple of things that needed amends, but also wasn't pushy about booking me back in etc. Then, turns out it's a Bupa Members First place, so the whole clean/consultation was covered even with a basic plan, and I was out in about 30minutes with a complimentary bottle of listerine and toothpaste (nice touch). For the first time in my life, I'm actually planning on going to the dentist regularly (every 6 months to a year) so long as I live in the area. It was an unexpectedly pleasant (for a dentist!) experience, and I highly recommended giving it a try if you don't like going to the dentist.
