I'm really disappointed with this dentist. I used to like them a lot, but my last experience left me angry, and upset. Firstly, I hadn't asked to come in, but had them calling me non-stop to come in for a visit.
Before I confirmed an appointment, I rang my insurance company and changed my policy to maximum dental coverage. When I spoke to Smile Style to confirm my appointment on the phone, I made sure to ask that my insurance was valid there, and the response was "of course, by the sounds of it, it should cover all of it". So I go there, get quoted almost $2000 worth of work, and opt to have $1000 of it done that day. When it's done, they swiped my card and my insurance only paid $100 odd of it. I asked them why that happened, and the lady said, "oh, that's weird, I don't know". So I leave and call BUPA and they advise that this particular dentist was not a members first provider. I then ring the dentist back and tell them why it didn't pay much, and the same lady says, "yeah, we're not, we don't work with BUPA". COME ON. I felt completely taken for a ride, not to mention $900 out of pocket. I didn't have that kind of money to pay for a while, and now I'm being harassed by a debt collector for the rest of it which I just don't have. It's not fair at all - I would have gone elsewhere to get the seals I needed - one that took my insurance I was forking out for!
I was lied to, and found it disgustingly unprofessional. They can't say it was miscommunication between staff - it was the same woman, Rebecca, that I dealt with the entire time. Dentists are expensive as it is. I say, pick your battles if you insist on doing that, and target someone that actually has a bucket of money. read more
