The last time I went to a dentist (which was around three years ago) I was told that I needed to have all four of my wisdom teeth out and that it would cost me around $1700. I took this advice and promptly pushed it to the back of my mind, hoping that problem would fix itself somehow and that the whole mess would just go away.
Bt after three years I could no longer stand the niggling voice in the back of my head reminding me that I may one day have no teeth at all if I don't get this sorted. On the advice of a friend, I went to a Nova Dental for a general check-up and for a second opinion regarding my wisdom teeth. The doctor that I saw there was so helpful in so many ways. He gave me the most thorough dental clean that I've ever had, and also gave me some general tips, such as the correct way to floss (not as straight forward as you might expect!).
But most importantly, after having a new set of dental x-rays done, the difference in quote for having my wisdom teeth out went from $1700 to around $500 (as there was no reason why I couldn't just have a local anaesthetic and have them removed on site, rather than in hospital). I'm yet to actually have that procedure, but from this one visit alone, it was clear to me that this dentist (who has over 20 years experience) knows exactly what he's talking about. He was also a really nice, personable guy, so it was an all round pleasant experience. Not something you often hear about a visit to a dentist! read more
