Upon entering, I realized the shop was much larger than I had expected. Looks like it may have been 2 shops merged into one at some point. There's a large connected room with a massive Anime books and poster collection. Lots of fun and unique finds. The man at the cashier was friendly and helpful. We left with just a couple small figures but would love to spend more time looking over the variety of books and collectibles. Any shop that includes Hip Hop has my vote!

We got a quick greeting at the door and then were left to fend for ourselves in the Marvel wilderness. The store is super organized and visually on point. My son made a beeline for the Spider‑Man section like it was calling his name. My daughter, who has zero interest in comics, appreciated that they also sell books, tees, Funko Pops, and other merch so she didn't have to pretend to care about Peter Parker's problems. Checkout was smooth, and the cashier immediately pitched their membership program. Totally fine, it's a one‑time fee, not a monthly situation but we're just not ready to invest in that level of comic commitment yet. Prices were reasonable: about seven bucks for most issues and one $35 comic my son proudly bought with his own money. I let him live his best life. The plot twist came a week later when he sat down to read everything... and realized he accidentally bought three copies of the same comic because the covers were different. Variant covers: 1. Newbies: 0. A tiny heads‑up from the cashier would've saved us from the accidental collector's edition starter pack. All that said, the store is clean, cool, and has the exact comic‑shop vibe you expect. We'll definitely be back, just with a little more research and maybe a checklist so we don't accidentally buy the trilogy of the same issue again. Great spot overall, just not the most newbie‑friendly. But we'll return, now slightly wiser and definitely more cautious around pretty cover art.

This is my favorite spot in Redlands. Whenever I feel blue, I go for some kitty time. It's $20 for…read morean hour, which I'm good with paying every once in a while. There's usually always one or two kitties in the mood for either playing or being pet. You get kinda attached to some of them, but they're also up for adoption so they might not be there the next time you go. They do have some resident kitties though - Sugar is very sweet and not up for adoption. She'll always let you pet her. Staff is kind and will answer any questions about the kitties. I always ask if there's a lot of children or too many people when I go, and they'll let me know if there's too many. I just want to relax with the kitties and my book and it can be a bit noisy and distracting when it's a bit full. I'll usually go to Cafe Caprice around the corner for an hour and then come back for quieter kitty time. They also have cute local art up for sale around where you play with the kitties and it's nice to look at. I usually just grab a soda when I go there as I've already had my tea/coffee for the day, but would love it if they got their beer and wine license. I would totes have multiple glasses of wine whilst chilling with the kitties if they did that (the cat cafe I frequented in Charlotte had it). Overall, fun place to pet some kitties and get away from your problems for a bit.

Parking is available across the street near the goodwill or if you can get a spot on the street. We came in and there were piles of books next to the bookshelves. The sections aren't completely labeled, but if you read enough, you can see what category the bookkeeper has placed the books in. There isn't a certain order (alphabetically or anything). You go in and you peruse what is available . The bookseller is also hanging out in the front and will let you look at the front room or the back room. We saw the children's section, science, graphic novels, AAPI, and fantasy. Their romance was scattered around the store. I did end up leaving with a book purchase. I will say it's hard to look at everything because the lights were also flickering, although there is sunlight coming in. It was quite overwhelming to look at books. Overall the prices were cheaper than a bookstore chain. It's very nice to see these stores still operating. I'd choose this over a chain any day.

Instead of simply telling me he didn't have it, he took the time to recommend several websites where I could find the book at a very reasonable price. Thanks to his guidance, I found exactly what I was looking for, and the deal was so good that I ended up ordering two books. Gene Berkman and Jayne Hanson clearly care about their customers and have a genuine passion for books. Their knowledge, friendliness, and willingness to help make this shop a true gem in Riverside. I highly recommend Renaissance Bookshop to anyone looking for books, music, movies, and outstanding customer service.
