My daughters are all in piano and my littles picked up an additional instrument. My daughter is learning flute and loves it, even if right now it is just a year of learning to blow correctly. My five (now six) year old picked up drums and will randomly start beating a tune using different surfaces where ever we find ourselves. She is hearing music in everything around her. Music 1st/Tuned In also demonstrates grace when I have mommy meltdowns, when I am late on payment because I am waiting on paid medical, and when I try to work the schedule around a second job. It is a little cramped in that big house, but it is a house of love in our family. I can't thank you enough.

All of the instructors are knowledgeable about their music. Not only that but they are attentive to their students needs and learning style. If one strategy doesn't work, they try another. He is patient, personable and gives me good "homework" assignments of new guitar riffs, chords and other exercises to work on. I feel like I'm getting quality, honest feedback on my progress, and having him there to correct my technique or give me tips is definitely worthwhile. I can't imagine trying to learn on my own, especially since I have very little real musical background (I don't think the recorder counts :P). I'm sure it's possible but having Joey there to point me in the right direction speeds things up and helps avoid unnecessary setbacks. I wanted to at least get a solid foundation and start with good habits before I set out to learn electric guitar, and I feel like I'm getting that with Joey. He's flexible with scheduling and make-up lessons, very knowledgeable and fun to learn with. I feel like I'm making good progress and look forward to improving more with his guidance. Would definitely recommend Joey to anyone looking to learn guitar or another instrument in the Lacey area.

I am a very experienced musician - I have taken hundreds of music lessons from dozens of teachers,…read moreon a variety of instruments, and even have a performance degree from an elite music school. And I can say that Carol is one of the best, most dedicated and insightful teachers that I have ever encountered. I had a lot of damage from music school - i.e. "drummers can't sing", "you are tone deaf", etc. and Carol helped me move far past that into a place where I can sing comfortably, confidently, and most important of all, have fun doing it! Carol won't try to fit you into some style of music that you don't enjoy - a lot of teachers think that the only "real" singing is classical, jazz, etc. Carol is more of the Bruce Lee philosophy - she doesn't aim to fit you into a certain "style", she is there to help you produce the best sound that your body can make. We all sound different because we have different physical characteristics and backgrounds, and Carol helps you to understand the fundamentals so that you can fully express yourself without strain or injury. She is comfortable with students of all ranges - some of her students were very experienced musicians like me, and others were total beginners. But we all felt that she had helped us progress in a very big way. One of the biggest surprises of my time with Carol is how much healthier I became. As a child I had asthma, but now I think it may have been just bad breathing technique - no one ever taught me how to breathe! Carol showed me how to breathe in a more relaxed and full-body way, which means that I can run faster and longer, and lift more weight at the gym. That was a surprise! I have also noticed that my speaking voice is better - it is easier for me to talk to groups of people with or without a microphone. Now I can speak more clearly, with less strain and without blowing my voice out. My time with Carol was a very deep learning experience, but also a lot of fun; we miss her here in Chicago. Thanks Carol - you changed my life!
