This is a lovely, cozy place to hide out in when the weather is less than perfect. My friend and I had lunch here on our trek to a healthier lifestyle, and Souls' menu had some soul to it indeed. Menu selection: there is so, so much! GF and vegan options galore - they even have GF pancakes. We eventually settled for the sweet potato salad (as seen in all the pics) and the acai bowl. Price: the acai bowl was about 78kr, which is definitely pricey for Americans but the portion and freshness made it more than worth worth it for CPH. My friend's sweet potato salad was about 85kr, and she had some trouble finishing the large plate. Atmosphere: we came around 12 and stayed for about 2 hours. Yep, a huge fan of more plant-based eateries popping up around Copenhagen. Souls is a nicely-sized space with lots of natural lighting and wood, and candles and window pillows to make it cozy when it gets darker. There's a lot to choose from on the menu depending on if you're into a bigger meal or just a lunch bite - salads, sandwiches, burgers, and brunch. I tried their sweet potato salad and asked to add a few more toppings to it, and they were kind enough to make it for me - no problem. Side note: the sweet potato salad is really good with BBQ mushrooms & buckwheat pasta added if you're extra hungry. :) The seasonal mixed salad concept is big in the US and I'm glad to see it here at Souls, with more innovative ingredients than just shredded cabbage and beet. They're packed with veggies, protein, various grains, and delicious dressings - which is a nice change if you're sick of the same uninspired veggie options around Copenhagen. We also ordered burgers and sangria, and I'd like to come back and try the sandwiches. The cake looked delicious as well. The best burger yet. Was just down at the new cafe Souls in Østerbro. I must say, that I was pleasantly surprised. Great atmosphere - however a little loud, but they will get an extra 100 seats outside for the summer. We were very hungry, so we got the burger, a sandwich and a salad and cake. The burger was the best, that I have had to date. The sandwich was also a to ranking, and a little more food for the money. To finish off we had both the chocolate cake and cheesecake. I'm not usually a salad person, but after 20 hours of flying and eating crappy airport food, I needed some greens! Souls provided me with one of the tastiest salads I've had in many years. My husband got the smokey bean sandwich, and I decided on the green pea salad. It was big and overflowing with delicious spiced mushrooms, parmesan, just the right amount of quinoa and other goodies. The greens were interesting and not too bitter. My husband like his sandwich just fine, but he was ecstatic to finish up my meal. We finished with some yummy soy cappuccinos. If we had stayed in Copenhagen more than 24 hours, we would have definitely been back for a repeat visit. read more

After being frustrated with the lack of vegan/vegetarian food in Copenhagen I was excited to finally go somewhere where I had more than two options on the menu. It's a very cute and hipster looking restaurant with lots of plants and modern, hanging lightbulbs. The decor is sleek and inviting, but unfortunately the front door latch was broken and it wouldn't shut when people walked in and out. It was especially awful since me and my friends were sitting right by the door and the cold winter air kept us chilly throughout our meal. We spoke to the waiter about it and he said they were working on getting it fixed, so hopefully that will happen before the winter is over. Souls, while having a lovely atmosphere was somewhat disappointing. I know that I'm probably just spoiled from all the amazing vegan and vegetarian restaurants in New York, but I found the food a bit bland and ordinary. I ordered the Hot Bowl which is a bowl of quinoa with seitan, mushrooms, broccoli, bok choy, edamame, and goma dressing. I added some much needed avocado. It tasted slightly sweet with hints of Chinese five spice, but was a bit boring. My friend ordered the Homemade Pizza, which was better than what I had and came with a little side salad. I also tried my friend's Soul Burger which was again just okay. It's a smaller portion than the other dishes, but comes with some raw carrots and celery. I had really high hopes for Souls, but was a bit disappointed. I would still recommend coming if you're looking for more interesting vegan fare than you can get in the usual restaurants in Copenhagen. read more

My companion enjoyed the beautiful smashed avocado open faced sandwich and I adored my sweet potato, tomato and pesto sandwich in a slightly sweet whole grain roll. We shared the yuzu cheesecake - perfection in its tangy creamy texture with an oaty crunchy crust. Such a wonderful little veg/vegan spot in Østerbro. I went with some friends for their opening night and it was a beautiful, well-decorated spot to have a meal, light bite or drinks with some friends. The food is well-priced considering the ingredients used to make the food and the mixed drinks were delicious. I would personally recommend the sangria (not too sweet), veggie burger and the chocolate cake. The owner is from Australia and was just the nicest guy ever. Went here upon arriving Copenhagen. We had the supreme salad with tofu and sweet potato in it, homemade pizza with mushroom and mushroom burger. The burger was ok since I am not really vegetarian I realize it doesn't satisfy me i find the mushroom patty dry. Although I like the pizza it was delicious and has a lot of toppings. This place was so delicious! After a long flight, and horrible plane food, this was just what I needed. The juices were so refreshing, and the burger (pulled pork 'mushroom' burger) was amazing. The fries were fries, but the sauce they came with was delicious. The portions were perfect too, just enough for one person. Service was great, and this place was very aesthetically pleasing. We arrived to Copenhagen late in the evening, this was the only restaurant that still opened in the area close to our hotel. Haven't been to a vegan vegetarian restaurant before. Food was of good quality, fresh. A bit pricey. We were charged an additional fee for using credit card which we were not told of until I checked the receipt after I got back to the hotel. I spent some time researching for my Copenhagen foodie bucket list and Souls lives up to the hype. It was one of the tastiest breakfasts/brunches I've ever had and everything was very fresh and healthy. We arrived around noon on a Saturday and as one can expect, it was fairly busy, yet we were seated quickly. We were very hungry as we had arrived from a long international flight the day before. So as a family of parents to a 2 year old, we decided to order 3 dishes - açai bowl (daughter), brunch plate (husband), avo smash (me) and a matcha latte, juice, and oat milk for our drinks. Service was prompt, attentive, and friendly. The presentation of the dishes was beautiful and everything tasted as good as it looked. Their avocado toast on rye bread was flavorful and seasoned well. Coming from California, I've had some good avocado toast since avocados are abundant and a staple. I would have never imagined to find even better avocado toast in a cold climate such as Denmark! The contrast between the smooth,creamy avocado texture and nutty, rough rye bread was balanced perfectly. The portions were generous, especially the açai bowl. Since the bowl was much larger than we expected, obviously our 2 year old needed help in finishing it, so my husband and I had a large portion of the bowl as well in addition to our own dishes. The açai texture was smooth and not overly runny, complimented nicely with the granola, berries, and banana. We were very full by the time we had finished our meal and drinks, but not in an overly stuffed way where you wish you had worn your fat pants. We had a booth/table, so our seating with all the dishes felt comfortable and not too crowded. Lighting was bright and airy. Bathroom was spacious which definitely is a plus when dealing with a toddler. LOL. I don't consider myself much of a brunch person, but the brunch here is definitely a must in Copenhagen! read more

Versus expectations, we were let down a bit. Few menu items. Salad was good, but extra efforts to embellish backfired. Marinated mushrooms were salty beyond anything you could eat. Onion rings a bit too dark, and their heavily seasoned breading too strong. Pizza sauce too sweet, mushy bread. The flavors are all interesting, but maybe not always good together. I absolutely love the concept and it has a very Aussie feel to it - reminds me of a vegan place I went to in Melbourne. I shared the pizza with a friend and we both had a side of sweet potatoes, and this was actually a good serving for two. The pizza was so tasty and delicious. The only downside to this place was that they had way too much heat on - one waiter was wearing shorts. I was obviously wearing a warm sweater because it was 7 degrees outside, and when I sat inside it was like a hot summer day. Other than that, a fantastic service and delicious food. I love the concept. SOULS - seriously healthy eating. I ordered their sweet potato salad as they promote, so it should be their signature dish. Food came after about 15 minutes. Portion was just perfect size, greens were fresh with great dressing. And tasted good. I wanted to order white wine Sangria with my meal as they offer on huge black board. Unfortunately they were out of it. I think they were starting p. to prepare it, because they didn't wipe off the advertisement from the black board. I ordered Chardonay - house wine instead. Wine was served in perfect temperature. Unfortunately wine was dead on nose and the body was weak. I should have order Riesling instead. It could go even better with that sweet potatoes salad. The fact that they are new business is something you can feel. They didn't still find routine in the ordering and also the waitress was little bit unsure of what she is doing, but I'm sure she will be perfect for this place. She has a nice smile and regularly was checking on guests if the need something. This place is very good. It doesn't need much to get one more star. I will be definitely be back and willing to re-rate. What would I change? - uniforms (fx apron), so I recognize who is server/guest - vase with order number flipped few times while I was waiting for food, because of the wind - menu outside on tables (with a note saying self service), so ppl can think more about order and after their meal they can look what else (sweet) they have. - house wine I wish the business all the best. I have been curiously wondering around Copenhagen trying to have a bite of healthy food as I'm nowhere near of being a good cook when it comes to preparing healthy meals. Portions were big and I imagine that for people that are used to eating green, this probably would be a brilliant meal, but for us, it just wasn't satisfying....It just felt like something was missing as all we ate tasted a bit too sweet-ish and the combinations of the ingredients didn't blend as nice in your mouth as it was described on the menu. We had a lovely yet expensive brunch at Souls. I hadn't realized it's all plant based, meaning no eggs. I had the brunch plate - two gluten free pancakes, some cashew yogurt with granola, cut up fruit, two veggie spreads, carrot and zucchini sticks, bread, and an avocado toast. The avocado spread was awesome, and I really liked the yogurt and veggie spreads, too. I wish there wasn't so much bread as part of the brunch. Why go to the effort of making nice gluten free pancakes when you put bread on the plate? My brunch was 118 DKK, plus my partner's pancakes stack (with peanut butter, coconut, and chocolate sauce, yum!) and latte was a total of 246 DKK (37 dollars).
