We were seated and didn't receive the menu for 15minutes (they weren't particularly busy). We waited another 15 minutes and no waiter came, despite the fact that the waiter passed by our table several times (and I signaled we were ready to order). We finally decided to leave. The waiter was right next to us and he didn't say a word. Won't be coming back.

So much so that I came here twice during our five-day stay. It's a cozy place, with feather throws and metal chairs, seats by windows and candles lit on every table, on every nook and corner. If you're not here when it first opens in the morning, you may need to wait or find another place to eat, since it's one of few places that open before 10 on a weekend. The breakfast choices were divine. Egg over rye toast, or the full breakfast special complete with delicious ham, cheese, melons, fried egg, and rye bread. So good and so fresh, I was in LOVE. I honestly do not know what to say about the rating for this place on Yelp. Both times I went, I came out extremely happy and satisfied with everything. Lovely gem of a place.

I definitely reccomend getting the bread, the rye was amazing and so moist, almost spongy! All in all, a really good brunch experience for a decent price (considering copenhagen prices)

We stopped here for dinner last night after walking around Freetown and wanting something warm and filling because the weather was in and out with a light drizzle. We ordered the chicken congee (plus hoison chicken) and a mushroom barley risotto along with their Snickers waffle for dessert because why not. Even though we were virtually the only people in the cafe, the food took a pretty long time to come out. Both of the savory dishes were incredible. The congee was so saltily wonderful and we loved all the toppings (except the excessive amount of peanuts). The dish was rich, but all the veggies cut through everything--so good. The ristotto was equally impressive because the mushroom flavor really popped in the broth they used, and the rest of the accouterments of cheese, sautéed mushrooms, etc, on top really sung. A winner. As for the waffle, what's not to like? A solid preparation with chocolate and peanut sauces drenched on top. No complaints. We thought the total tab was a bit high for what we got, but this is Denmark, so we're getting used to the elevated pricing. We wouldn't say that Grod is worth going out of the way for, but it's a very fine meal if the craving strikes and you happen to be in the area. Four stars, and not a bad start to our trip.

We had been here before but only to have a beer and sit along the banks of the canal. They have a nice patio area, with heat lamps and blankets for those cooler evening, as well as a much smaller space inside. This evening we decided to eat inside. The huge windows allow the evening sun to come streaming in and it's quite warm in the restaurant. We arrived and didn't know if there was table service or order counter. There wasn't a sign saying "Please wait to be seated" So we assumed it was order at the counter. We stepped up and ordered our food and a beer each. Once we found a table we realized there is table service, but it really didn't matter much to us. When we placed our order we were told that due to a high volume the kitchen was a bit backed up and that our food could take up to 30 mins. No big deal, we had our beers and it was nice to sit in the sun and just relax. After 15 mins our food appeared on the table. We had ordered the fish and chips and a pulled chicken sandwich. The fish was lightly breaded, not battered, and was fresh and delish. The Pulled Chicken was served with lettuce and coleslaw on the inside of the bun, which was very good and roasted new potatoes. Both meals were very good. One thing we realized as we were here is that there were a few families around us, but most notably. We think we were the only tourists in the place. This was a locals hangout. Overall, The food is fresh and good, beer is served up cold and the servers were very friendly to us. This local hang out has a great location and if you want to just grab a beer and sit by the canal and enjoy the evening sun, Bryggens has a fabulous location for doing that. I like this place !
