They did great work fixing a manufacturer's issue with my Birkenstocks that the company refused to fix. He was super prompt, thoughtful, and the charges felt very reasonable for the quality of service. Will def be a repeat customer!! read more

The man who repaired my boot heels was fantastic! Although he was obviously loaded down with work, he made time to help me as I waited. Maybe he felt bad for my hobbling in with uneven heels. :) I don't understand the bad reviews. The man (Kenny? Jamie?) was not effervescently friendly, but pleasant and willing to help. The price was a little high, but I was not surprised, given that it's downtown Seattle and he did the repair while I waited on a stool in my stocking feet. I learned that he took over the store after his dad had operated it for 20-something years. It's clear he takes pride in his business. The location is a little confusing on the Yelp map. You enter through a promenade off 2nd Ave, near the intersection with Seneca. They usually have a sign on the sidewalk, shown in the Google maps photo I uploaded. I'll gladly return here if I need shoe repair help in the future. read more

I brought in a pair of riding boots to be conditioned and shined, and the guys noticed that the heels needed replacing (and recommended replacing the soles later) all for a very reasonable price and very quick work (less than a day). They were very knowledgeable and pleasant to work with. And my boots look great! read more

They worked magic on my favorite pair of heels that were in such rough shape, my boyfriend told me to get over them and buy some new ones. Now I don't have to! Definitely will return if I have another pair of shoes in need. read more

Sometimes you like a business that gets right to the point. Such is it with Shoe Express, whose name tells you all you need to know. They indeed repair shoes. They indeed are speedy. The owner doesn't speak the best English, so sometimes it was hard to understand what he was about to do (repair the wheel? oh, heel!). But I got my work shoes re-soled and a new pair of insoles. Was a little spendier than I thought it was going to be ($80), but if I get a few more seasons out of my well worn leather shoes that's a lot cheaper than new ones ($150-200). Probably good for the environment too, if you care about that sort of thing. I'd give this place more stars if they had more accurate pricing on the wall (instead of a tiny price sheet that doesn't seem to resemble what you actually got charged). If you've got fancy shoes you think you can get another couple of years out of, it's definitely worth it to get them repaired. But if you are your average woman, who changes shoe styles every 14 minutes, it's probably not worth it. They also cut keys. But Shoe & Key Express is many more words. Wonder why all the shoe places also cut keys? read more

Great at making keys, a little off on fixing shoes. If you're looking for a place downtown to get an extra key for a houseguest or to hide, I would recommend Shoe Express. And if you live alone and don't know your neighbors, I would recommend hiding a key somewhere rather than have to call your annoyed parents or sister when you irresponsibly leave your keys in your coat which you left at some friend's house, but I digress. All the keys I've gotten here fit. My shoes, however, are still a little off. The shoes I brought in were dressy platform sandals with stretchy bands around the toe, base of the foot and ankles. I'd walked around so much in them that the bands had separated from the base of the shoe (not stretched out, but separated, this is important). I could see that they could be fixed by removing the sole, tightening the bands, then sewing it up. The reason I knew this is because I used to date a guy who had a shoe repair shop (a "cobbler") and I'd heard a million stories about fixing broken shoes (I dated him for 3 years). However, the Shoe Express guy told me that I simply had to tighten up the back band (around the ankle) and the shoe would be fine. Which was true. Except I wanted it to fit all the way around, not just in the front and back. He told me that fix was "impossible," even when I specifically explained what I wanted done. He didn't tell me why it was impossible (i.e. the sole couldn't be removed, which is sometimes the case with cheap shoes), he just said it couldn't. End of story. These were really expensive shoes, and other than the band problem, looked great. When I said I wanted more tightness around the base of the foot, he starts pulling out all these leather orthopedic-style inserts etc., which would not have worked aesthetically. I gave up trying to convince him to try the other repair. He fixed the ankle band part, and they work fine, though I would have preferred they were fixed completely so I could walk around in them with impunity, like I used to. BTW, I don't think it was the same guy in some of these other reviews. His English was perfect. Anyway, bottom line, the place is fine for keys and basic shoe repair, but if I ever want these particular shoes fixed correctly, I guess I'll have to find another place. read more

Fantastic place, reasonable prices, quick work, excellent place for your shoe repair needs. He did a fantastic job replacing the heels of my favorite boots. Highly recommended! read more

I got a pair of sandals resoled recently. Shoe Express did a great job. The soles were specific and expensive but they were willing to negotiate with me and I appreciated that. My only suggestion would be that they communicate a little better e.g. if you say it will be ready at the beginning of a week, make sure to text/email an update rather than having the client calling to check on the progress. I would definitely use their services again. read more

Do not bring your shoes here!! I brought 3 pairs of designer shoes to Shoe Express to get new soles. When I came to pick them up 2 pairs were destroyed! My Lanvin satin ballet flats were shredded at the toes! It looked like he took a nail file and filed down the satin! He also put black polish on my gray boots and there was glue on them too! So I get very upset and tell this guy that he messed up my shoes, his response "Its OK, just wear them, I fix shoes for 40 years". Well maybe he needs to retire! He refused to give me my money back and yelled at me until I cried. Do not get your shoes repaired here! read more

I discovered this place on a random walk downtown. I had been looking for a place to repair my shoes and voila! I have now had two pairs repaired here and I am completely satisfied by the work. The first pair I had done were my Polo purple label ankle dress boots. The uppers on these are outstanding, but the soles just couldn't handle the wet conditions around here. The cobbler put new soles and fixed the heels on both shoes, and they look brand-spanking new. The second pair I took in was my Hugo Boss black lace up dress shoes. The uppers on these are good, but not as good as the Polos. However, when I got the shoes back (again: soles and heels), he had taken steps to fix up the toes and now scuff marks and partial tears are completely invisible. These shoes look good to go for another four years. I don't think this place is the cheapest around, but the cobbler does fine work and I believe it is worth it to invest in a good pair of shoes and repair when necessary. Over the life of the shoe, you'll save money and have a great pair to love. Another thing, the address says this place is on 3d ave. It's not really. It is in the old WAMU building, but to access it, go to 2nd Ave side and go under the covered walkway on the SW corner. He usually has a sign out front, but once you're under the cover, he's impossible to miss. read more

$20 to replace a zipper and told me my boots weren't nice and I should just buy new ones. Awesome!!

Shoe express did an amazing job on my shoes. I came in with a sole problem on my favorite pair of YSL Boots. They not only took care of the problem but explained how they would fix it and treated my shoes with great care. I received a shoe as good as new!! I couldn't be more pleased with my experience. read more

Reading other reviews, I'm thinking that some of the negative reviews might have landed on the wrong page. There are two shoe repair stores on Seneca, within 2 blocks of each other, with similar names (I think the other is Instant Shoes) and I had a difficult time with the other shop, with poor communication, pricing that changed from quote to finish, slow turnaround, and mediocre work. Then I tried Shoe Express, and they've been my go to ever since. Great work, quick turnaround, friendly service. I buy shoes for the 5tg Avenue Theatre, so they do a lot of work on LaDucas and Worldtones, and they've successful done a New York tap shoe buildup for me. This time around, I had them dye some dance shoe that were only available in tan, and they turned out beautifully! read more

We were passing through Seattle while on a long trip and I had a pair of pumps that needed new heel Pads. Took them to Shoe Express. Done! My husbands comfortable and "loved" leather oxfords needed new soles, he was ready to toss the shoes, but Shoe Express saved them and made them like new again. Shoe Express replaced the soles in under 3 hours (we had a plane to catch.) Done! Amazing Shoe Repair staff and service. We highly recommend! read more

I was a little surprised to see the low reviews for this place, since they always do a fantastic job repairing my shoes. The most recent pair they repaired was a pair of Dolce & Gabbana patent leather slingbacks that needed a little loving after I had spent a lot of time walking around downtown in them. The pointed toe was scuffed and the patent leather was peeling from it. The heels needed new tips. When I went to pick them up, they looked like new. The Dolce & Gabbana heels were not the only heels I brought in to have the tips replaced. Each time, the repair lasted much longer than the original elements of the shoe. Most recently, I brought in a very expensive leather Prada bag that had been scuffed up from regular wear. When I picked it up today, it looked just as it looked the day I purchased it. Moreover, they did a beautiful job cleaning out the inside, which I did not even request that they do. I suppose that most of us are more likely to write a bad review if we have a negative experience, but I know that I am one of many people in my building that goes to Shoe Express for shoe repairs and I have only heard about positive experiences. I just thought I would share mine. read more

These boots are made for walking - and I walked the heel taps right off! Shoe Express is both conveniently located in the city and delivers quality work. Soul Repair - Shoe Repair Near Me - Seattle, Washington

The only reason I have been able to wear my fabulous Rockport leather boots for over eight years, is because of Shoe Express. They were the only place that would take on the challenge, and for the best price and highest quality! Gary at Shoe Express is great to work with, and the level of work that they do there is top notch. I wore these boots on stage for seven years, at almost every concert that my band performed at all over Seattle and the Pacific NW...and on top of that, I wore these boots as my every day flats through the fall and winter. These boots had really been through a lot over the years, but they meant a lot to me...and the leather and style was really one-of-a-kind. Shoe Express replaced the zipper lining first in my one boot, then a year later in my second boot...then they also replaced both heals. They were more than happy to take on the challenge! Zipper linings are very hard to do...it takes a true craftsman to be able to this. Not only that, but they are very time consuming, and most places around Seattle I found would not take on my request. I would recommend Shoe Express to anyone! read more

Thank you, Bob and the amazing experience! He fixed my boot heel in speedy time. Greatly appreciated!

Be wary of going in to this store. Nasty service and deceptive pricing. I brought in 10 pairs of shoes. The owner tells you one price, then does work and switches the price. I asked him to explain the work that he performed on each shoe and why it went from $15 to $35 for each shoe and he yelled at me. Then he started screaming that I should never come back. Don't worry about that...I have no intention. THEN, I told my colleague about this and he said that he had an awful experience like that too! You're better off going down the street to Nordstrom Rack's second floor shoe repair. They have better, reliable service and air ventilation. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! If there were a negative stars, I would add them. These guys are thieves. I brought my shoes in and asked for a rough estimate. It was supposed to cost $40 but when I picked up my shoes they asked for $100. I am also writing the Better Business Bureau!!! read more

I took two pairs of shoes in to Shoe Express, Gary took care of these shoes. First pair, three year old 'To Boot New York" black dress shoes. Leather upper was scuffed up a bit, heel had fallen off of one of them, toe box had deep scratches. They really looked a mess. I took them in, Gary looked them over and said he would have them ready in about a week. A week later, I came back and they looked brand new. He had refinished the top of the shoe, took out all of the scratches, scuffs, re-polished them, not to mention that the new heel looked exactly the way it looked when I first got them. The new heel is actually a tad more comfy than the original. $40 repair, brought back to life a $280 pair of dress shoes. Standing there, examining my shoes, totally flabbergasted, I put them on and without even thinking about it, I handed him my brown pair. A 6 year old pair of brown leather Doucals. I had recently taken them before to other shops to get resoled and they never quite got it right. They had only been given new soles about 4 months prior and they were already peeling and didn't look too solid. He looked these over and told me he can replace the entire sole from toe to heel and it would cost about twice what the other shoe repair did. Given that he had just taken a broken pair of black shoes and given me back a brand-new looking pair, I figured it was totally worth the cost. A week later I picked up my shoes. They looked as new as the day I bought them. I still don't understand how he was able to make these shoes look so unused after all this time. I gladly paid the cost and tipped him well. I will be back, as often as I can, and I recommend this place to anyone who has black or brown men's dress shoes. I still can't believe what he did to my shoes. -jake read more

I've worked in downtown Seattle for 11 years now and after using another shoe repair not far away whose work fell apart in a month. I found this one who I've used for probably 8 years now. Always does an excellent job with basic as well as more complex repairs for both men and women's shoes. Typically I leave my shoes for a week as he's often super busy (I'm easy going!) but the wait is always worth it and the quality of work is key - I appreciate that. read more

It's difficult to find a keymaker in downtown Seattle now that Argens is gone. I popped in here today to get a copy of a key and was told rather rudely when the job was finished that the shop didn't take debit cards for small purchases. I chose something that I didn't want or need and the guy said "I'm ringing in eleven dollars for this." Since the total was under ten, I didn't think it was okay at all. He grudgingly agreed to ring in the correct amount only after I pointed out that nowhere in his shop was a sign posted as to no minimum charges on debit cards. He has a generous collection of very nice shoes (He also runs a shoe repair service) and offered to give me a "good deal" if I wanted a pair. Their owners hadn't come to pick them up and I can well understand why--I'm certainly never going back. Apparently there's another keymaker near the downtown library--I should have gone there and so should you. read more

I was about to abandon a couple pairs of expensive leather dress boots because I've worn them consistently for the last three years (excluding summer months). I figured a repair might pull them through one more year. Shoe Express made them look brand new! They're even more comfortable than before thanks to the new soles and the "white" patches from excessive wear (heel, toe) are black once again. If you have a favorite pair of well-worn shoes, I'd strongly suggest repair before paying 4x for a new pair. read more
