Jim repaired two pairs of sandals for me, and I am so happy to be wearing them again in the hot weather! He is clearly an expert craftsman. I will absolutely go again with any shoes that need repair. read more

Jim has probably the worst attitude of any service person I have ever encountered in my life. I've been taking shoes to him for years to have sole/heel protectors on to prolong the life of my shoes. He's never been a friendly guy, but he's gotten progressively grumpier and ruder over the years and acts as if a simple request to add protectors will take an act of god. But in the end he does fine cobbler work and that's all that matters, right? When I brought the last pair to him, he made sure to tell me the shoes I bought are "a nightmare", apparently because he didn't like the style lol. Today I brought him a brand new pair of loafers and he balked and said no, he couldn't add protectors because the soles "aren't leather" and if they peel off it's not on him. Okay, Jim, sure. You have one job and apparently you can't do it. He's the absolute worst. read more

Literally the WORST. I've come in at least three times for extremely simple fixes, only to be met with withering responses and immediate refusals. Today's exchange topped them all when I brought in a pair of sandals that had cracked on the upper part. Jim glanced at the shoes, then at me, and said "Nope. I can't fix that. How could I fix that?" Um, what?? Am I the cobbler now?? He bunkered down and repeated: "I can't do it." This man only comes from a place of no. If his business model is to actively turn away customers and make them recoil, he is doing a terrific job. Keep up the great work. read more

I had a pair of shoes that needed a repair after wearing them once. The rivets had failed in the buckles. An unusual problem, and an unusual size. The repair was done while I waited, and saved a very nice new pair of shoes. Remarkable!!! read more

Have been a customer for many years. He just repaired my boots because the loops holding the shoelaces all broke. Now they are better than new! Why get a new pair when we have Jim! read more

Jim's Cobbler Shoppe - Boots repaired by Jim the Cobbler - Shoe Repair Near Me - Seattle, Washington

We were in Seattle and I had a new pair of boots. They needed weather treatment. We were in the community of Magnolia. My husband and I walked into town and found this cute Cobbler shop. It was clean , the owner was helpful- it so hard to find cobbler shops. Repairs also done here. read more

Awesome! I really appreciate our cobblers, and Jim's is a great shoppe. Most of my shoes are Johnston & Murphy, worth $150-$200 a pair, not luxury but not disposable, either. I've got a pair of Cole Haan boots, and the point of this is: these shoes make great financial sense if you've got a good cobbler who can keep them in good repair and looking sharp for awhile. I appreciate their honesty, as well, as they have told me - "yeah, that's not worth cleaning up," or, "that's not worth fixing" . . . I'm a big fan. read more

Jim and Julie, ,the couple who own and staff this storefront run a great cobbler shop. They both used to work at Frederick and Nelson's, back in the day, and they know shoe repair. They also offer services to polish and shine your shoes better than they have ever looked! In a world that people too often throw away shoes instead of redoing them this is a place that deserves to be supported. Many modern shoes cannot be repaired you must buy with a long term view of your investment. Don't be put off by the old-fashioned decor this is the real deal. I have occasionally insisted on paying more, the work they did seemed priced too low for them to pay the rent. I was surprised to see the negative reviews here, I guess it proves that you can please some of the people some of the time and that people with positive experiences are less likely to write up a review. I have been going here for over 15 years and am appreciate of this couple's devotion to hard work --- if you could take a look at my shoes you'd see are in great condition. Not open on Sunday or Monday. Located in Magnolia Village just a bit north of Ace Hardware. read more

Just picked up my favorite All Saints boots from Jim's and they look AMAZING! Super happy with his work and I will definitely go back to them again! read more

Jim's Cobbler Shoppe - Shoe Repair Near Me - Seattle, Washington

I've been using Jim's Cobbler Shoppe for years. Always excellent service and great work by Jim. More than anything, he gives you honest advice on what is truly repairable, versus stuff that may just be ready to throw in the trash. :) Prices are reasonable, and they keep a good stock of polishes, dye and edge paint if you are into "do it yourself" shoe polishing... read more

Great store ! Brought my worn out shoes in and within three days they were practically brand new again and very reasonable too. read more

Jim has always repaired my shoes quickly, expertly and at a low price. I love the shop, and especially Jim's wife, Julie. She also works at Bartell's. She cares about every customer and on many occasions has made me feel physically and emotionally better with her compassion. Thank you Jim and Julie for your presence in our community! read more

So helpful and nice!! Great neighborhood business worth supporting. I just needed extra holes added to my leather belts but was such a good experience will think of Jim's first for any shoe repair needs. read more

The owner (older gentleman) was horrible when it came to questions. I asked him to repair a boot and he said it was impossible and no one can do it. He basically said that there is no way my Danner boots could be repaired whatsoever. I actually ended up going to another shoe repair place and they did it within a day. This is not a family friendly business, and the owner was rude especially with his comments to me. Stay away from this business. read more

Just had Jim repair 3 pairs of shoes. He replaced some broken eyelets and hooks on my work boots. He repaired and reattached the stacked leather heels on a pair of boots. He also replaced the gum soles on a pair on vintage clogs. All 3 repairs were perfect and done quickly. I dropped off on Tuesday morning and they were finished by Thursday evening. I'll only be using this shop going forward. Great prices (paid $49 + tax in total) and fast service. Thanks! read more

I have been going to JIm's for several years. Jim is a crusty guy with not much in the way of making you feel good. He has always been very negative but Julie has always been super. I love their work and I have come to accept Jim is just who he is. He has many times made me feel as if what I was asking was too much trouble or not worth his time. I ignore him now and just tell him what I need and he always does a great job. The price, the convenience and the quality of the work is why I return. Jim: Just try to be a little more friendly.......... read more

I not really able to give a review of the work done here, precisely because both times I've gone, they would do the work. First my gf brought in some high boots with a zipper that needed repair. " I don't do zippers" was the reply, delivered in a tone that seemed to suggest "You're stupid for having boots with zippers. Get them out of my store!" Fair enough. The second time I went in to try to resole some old boat shoes that had a sole loose at the toe. "Nothing I can do with these." Then, eyeing the rubber reinforcements I had glued on the soles by a cobbler in China, he said, "I'm surprised you even found someone to put these on!" Again with the tone "I can't believe you found someone who would even touch your stupid shoes!" Ok, maybe I am being harsh, but those are my only two experiences there. read more

I decided to try this shop out after reading the stellar reviews on Yelp. I brought in a pair of cowgirl boots some time in February; the sole was lifting off one of them. I was barely greeted; the guy examined my boots and made a face, presumably because the material is faux leather (I'm vegan and purposefully sought out a pair that matched my lifestyle), and sighed, saying he didn't know what he could do but he would try. I left them reluctantly, feeling like I was putting him out by bringing him business. When I picked the boots up, I was delighted to find them repaired as good as new, and the woman at the counter was friendly and very helpful. It more than smoothed over my initial impression. Now after lots of wear, the soles are beginning to pull off again, so I took them back, figuring it may just be a routine with this particular pair. Again, no greeting; both the man and the woman "helped" me at the front and both made the annoyed face when I brought my boots out. The guy sighed and said "Didn't I fix these once before?" I responded that yes, he had, and that the work had been superb, I just wear these very often. More sighing. No warmth, no eye contact, no smiling. Once again, I felt as if my business was unwelcome! I was asked when I needed them by and I responded happily that there was no rush, they could call when finished. The response? Another annoyed sigh and followed by a snippy remark to just pick a specific day of the week. If my boots are a pain in the ass for some reason, I wish they would just tell me they can't work on them again -- it beats the passive-aggressive fuck-off vibes. I was willing to overlook the abrupt customer service for the stellar work once, but not twice. The awkward/embarrassing exchange isn't worth it, and I really don't care to give them another dollar. I won't be back! read more

Had heals replaced on a pair of my wife's boots and my best pair or HM Williams boots. The quality of work was A+ and the price seemed fair $15 per pair. Turnaround time was just a few days. Thanks, Dan read more

I take all my shoes and purses to this shop. I've purchased boots and shoes (and purses) at consignment shops and they make them look either brand new or a whole lot better (obviously depends on the wear). I'm so happy to have this shop in my neighborhood but my friend from Issaquah brings her boots and shoes here now that I've introduced her to this shop. Great job guys. read more

The absolute best cobbler in town! I've taken in boots that had soles completely separate from the shoe and Jim was able to fix them. He is also extremely honest and will let you know the extent to which your shoes can be fixed. Everytime I take shoes here, I get them polished and they look brand new when I walk out. A great place, highly recommend! read more

I go waaay out of my way to go here. I have been going here for 10 years and they're wonderful. Always helpful, honest and fast!

friendly couple- Jim & ___ (sorry! and thanks for the dessert recommendation) ambiance= old school. counter in front, shop in back. same guy who writes your ticket--yes, writes- also fixes your shoes. the kind of place that makes you wonder if this is where the 'millionaires next door'- you know the ones who re-sole all their shoes instead of buying all new ones- come. always great service & quality work with a smile. If you live in Magnolia, you should not go anywhere else. read more

Got my shoes done here a few times. Most recently they stained my shoes a color that didn't match the original (not even close). When I asked why the color was different I was met with a very abrasive response from I'm assuming "Jim", who was miffed when I asked if he could try & match it to the original. Because I feel everyone deserves a 2nd & sometimes 3rd chance, I returned for the 3rd & final time to be met by a woman who didn't seem to have the time or desire to greet me or anyone else in the store with a baseline of customer service. I had a pair of shoes I was hoping to touch up--1 of which needed some glue on the heel. When I was told there was "...no sense in [me] getting the shoe fixed, because I'd likely damage it again...", that was all I needed to feel confident in my earlier assessment of this shop. I walked out w/ my shoes in hand. I am looking forward to finding a shoe repair shop that can stand by their work, but even more importantly, doesn't insult or belittle their customer base. read more

Jim's Cobbler Shoppe is the BEST I've found in Seattle after using one downtown and another in Fremont. Jim's shop doesn't smell like you're going to be overcome with solvent fumes as soon as you walk in. It's clean, neat and orderly. Jim not only does a fantastic job at bringing new or extended life to SHOES but he's a very nice man. His prices also reflect a good value for the work. His neon sign in his front window( Magnolia Village) is a classic and reflects Jim's commitment to the values that stand for honesty, simplicity, respect for our PNW history and great work for the value. He's THE cobbler for as long as I live in Seattle. read more

We have used Jim's Cobber for a number of years - most recently this week for reheeling and rubber skim-sole on a pair of Allen Edmonds men's dress shoes. They have done several pairs of lady's and men's shoes for us and every single time- they have been exceptional. They are on time, on budget, with flawless workmanship. If only every service industry could provide this level of service, quality, and fair price - Keep up the great work and never compromise your quality. And...they actually give you a courtesy call when your shoes are ready for pick up. read more

Love, love, LOVE this place! I just took 3 pairs of shoes in...two of which she fixed right on the spot and only charged me for one. She was very friendly and helpful. I will bring all my shoes here. Thank you! read more

This guy is worthless. I've been going to shoe repairs my entire life, and this is the first time I've had someone say they couldn't guarantee that my heels would stay on my shoes. He clearly had no idea how to fix an unconventional shoe even though the same shoes have been fixed by other cobblers in the past. I then asked if he could fix a bag that had a rip and he again said he couldn't fix it when I know of many other shoe repairs that can do the work. read more

I didn't even get as far as entering the store and I was put off by the curt, abrasive female on the phone. I called to ask if they installed zippers in new boots and she snapped "I don't do zippers". Taken back a bit, I asked of she could explain why...perhaps to enlighten me so I should reconsider this. Her response? ..."I'm too busy to do that" like I was asking her to clean my floors. Good for her to be SO SWAMPED with business that she can't waste her time on someone considering something so trivial. But maybe a kind thank you for asking, or can she help me with something else wouldn't have turned me off so completely. BTW, called another shoe repair down the street in Ballard and they said "sure! Bring them by!" Guess I'm just a customer....... read more

Lived in magnolia for 7 years and it was my first time in. Employees seemed no nonsense. Had him work on my son's dress shoes before he went off to college. Great price and good work... got what I expected for the price; they were done on time... thanks. I will go back... no complaints. Remember; the owner is a shoe repair guy... you give him shoes, he repairs them you leave happy... don't worry if you don't get small talk and a smile... read more

I am a HUGE fan! Jim and Julie do amazing work and tell you when they can't. They don't overcharge you and are just as careful with my $50 pair of shoes as my $250 pair of shoes. They have also rushed things when needed. I have gone other places in the past but feel so lucky to have found Jim's Cobbler Shoppe. read more

I visited my local Ballard cobbler and was unimpressed with the customer service, quote and time frame I was given. I decided to try Jim's and am glad I did. Jim was friendly, reasonably priced, and fast! He repaired the heels on my boots in 4 days. read more

Great experience. They applied a rubber sole to a pair of leather women's shoe's. Did a great job, timely, and reasonable priced.

A true professional. Best cobbler work I've had done across several states. He is a craftsman and really does good, honest work for a great price. I wish the local small engine repair, barber, auto mechanic, and other routine maintenance shops were all as reliable as Jim, where you know you will get good workmanship for a good price. read more

One of the best places in town to get your shoes, handbags and other leather goods repaired. Been using them for years. Good old fashion honest folks that doesn't penny pinch you with surcharges. Friendly and very easy to talk to. Many times, I would walk out of there with repairs costing less than $2. That is amazing for day and age. And if he thinks something is not worth fixing, he'd tell you straight up. As he says, he'd love to take my money but if he was in my shoes, the fix ain't worth the cost of fixing. All of our neighbors go to them exclusively as well. read more

I've been going here for probably 20 years and been able to have good quality shoes resoled and maintained for 10 years. Great quality and service and fair prices. This is shoe repair, not shoe construction (although he is very good), so not all shoe problems are repairable. They are very courteous, but this is a shoe shop, not a counseling service. This is a dying kind of business in our modern economy, which is unfortunate, because it brings great value and allows you to invest in quality shoes when you make your initial purchase. Very happy to still have it in my neighborhood. read more

I brought in 4 pairs of high heels for repair. Judy suggested an option of also repairing the front of the soles which were also needed. The shoes were completed in 3 days, very reasonably priced and high quality. I highly recommend this cobbler shop. read more
