As the other Yelpers have said, all the tattoo artists are extremely talented. Worked with owner Dan who is very devoted to creating excellent artwork on your skin. The entire staff is easygoing and very professional. The studio is very clean and sanitary. "Soul Expressions" is Socal's best kept secret. Can't wait to get more ink from them. I went to Soul Expressions to get a "cover up" tattoo. I requested Aaron Mason after seeing his work on someone else. I am very happy with my tattoo; Aaron did an amazing job. He was very knowledgeable about how to cover up my existing tattoo. The shop is clean, and Aaron is very professional. I brought in a reference picture of what I wanted. Aaron drew directly on me, and after I confirmed it was what I wanted, he did the tattoo. I love it. I have included before and after pictures. She is incredibly creative, talented, honest, fun and so down to earth. I love that she can do so many styles (from traditional to watercolor to portraits), and she has always been genuinely stoked to do my pieces. Upon entering the building i got a bad vibe. What tattoo place is quiet enough to hear a mouse? I told the only two guys that were there what i wanted and they gave me a few books to look through even though i had already told them what i wanted. I had to look up on my phone what i wanted and show them a picture, because they didn't know what i was talking about, like they have never seen a Celtic letter before. Their tattoo artist, they should know what I'm talking about when referring to art, and if they don't then they should look for a different career, no matter how good they are at giving permanent ink it doesn't mean that they are good at drawing or visualizing. I asked them if they would draw out for me what they were going to tattoo onto my body and they said they would before the appointment. That is stupid because if i go there for my appointment and i don't like the drawing then what happens? I come back because he has another appointment he can't be late for therefore he can't take the time to draw out another sketch? On top of that they seemed as if they weren't going to work with me unless i gave them a down payment of $100 cash only. My mother and grandfather both had tattoos done by two people there and yet they wouldn't trust me to just sketch something for me to see if i like it? Worst impression from a tattoo place. The last day i was in Hawaii i had a tattoo done with less problems and it is BEAUTIFUL? If you're reading this soul expression i have a few questions, were you giving me shitty attitude because i have a tattoo even though I'm not eighteen and it actually looks good? Well i had it done in Maui with my family and it was very well legal. You just sat there and stared at me, you didn't help one bit. read more

Went here wanting to get a cover up of a name. I was told I either had to get a tattoo of my entire arm or get laser tattoo removal. Not the answer I was looking for. I guess I am spoiled from watching the tattoo shows where they say they are going to draw something up and try to help you. read more

I would trust any artist to work on me there. They all rock. I have had work done by Aaron, Mike, and Dan. Never any complaints. Super clean and professional. And you don't have to wait weeks to get an appointment. The hourly rate is a bit on the high side but they have worked with me, I have gotten pretty good deals on my pieces. Clean, sanitary, and they don't come across conceited like other tattoo shops. The shop dog is adorable too. read more

I have to disagree with the only other review! I cant comment on the talent because we weren't able to get that far. But as for the environment, bad vibes!! My husband, daughter, and I were laughed at and made to feel very uncomfortable. Its a long story, but the staff was very rude to us. I can honestly say, my husband and I have never been treated like this before, Hence the review. We have been in many tattoo shops all over California. Stopped in on a whim and talked to Mike Bocanegra for a tattoo. Even though he was with a customer, he asked if he minded taking a few minutes to see me. Mike gave me a great quote and I made an appointment. He took my sketch and made it even better. He has a great attitude and I felt comfortable. My tattoo turned out absolutely awesome. I would recommend Mike as he cares about his art and making his customers happy. read more
