An alien Napoleon ice cream sandwich - one of the specials

SoulBaked has the best ice cream sandwiches and açaí creations I have ever had. The açaí bowls are made with raw açaí, not cut with other ingredients and comes with unlined toppings! The açaí ice cream sandwiches are one of a kind and there are always new specials available to try. I highly recommend trying out SoulBaked, it's like nothing you've had before, healthy and clean ingredients and amazing customer service!

I found pubes in my acai bowl. Absolutely not vegan. Probably gluten free but still, nasty bro.

Walk along the Embarcadero & get a freeze on a hot day, stop by Chilanga's (the best booth there) & get my huitlacoche on. Live music, shade, delicious vendors, right across from the water. I did have a little detour from Chilanga's - while I was waiting for my spouse to park, I sat at a shady table with a woman who was telling me about the poke truck (Island Mike's) & explaining that her coworker ran it as a side hustle, and that the poke was delicious because he had lived in Hawaii. I agonized a bit - get my Chilanga's huitlacoche huarache - or try the poke? I eventually decided: it's Mother's Day, you can have ALL the things, just like at a buffet! So I went to Island Mike's first. They advertised Broke Da Mouth poke - and I was a little suspicious at first - cuz Island Mike's didn't look like a Hawaii native but a mainlander who spent some time there. BUT... I got my poke "island style" (furikake, sushi rice, and the poke - not lots of distractions like seaweed salad or ginger like in the "mainland style") - and it really was off the hook. Really fresh & delicious and perfectly made. YUM & YUM. $12 for one scoop (the smaller size) & very worth it. Of course I still needed my Chilanga's so then I got the huitlacoche huarache (a vegetarian taste of heaven - shredded lettuce, huitlacoche, Mexican cheese on a huarache (masa dough) & tried the mango passion fruit agua fresca. The huarache is huge and I'd already had the little poke, so I took most of it home to eat later. But it was just as yummy as I remembered. And the agua fresca is amazing. I'll still crave Chilanga's but now I'll crave Island Mike's too. I need to get down here more often because it is a super fun outing that is too good to waste on tourists!

There was live music and aa few food stalls. Good Eatz (filipino/hawaiian fusion) caught my eye mainly because they have a few Ube pastries (mochi, ube bar, etc). I first ordered the ube bar which passed the test so I went back to order the mochi. They also offer lumpia, spam musubi and chicken wing combo plates and pork dumplings.

I strongly prefer the baked method to other styles. This is a small spot at the UTC Westfield mall. It's best to order food and then go find a place in the plaza to sit and eat. We went on a Saturday afternoon and there was no wait. Empanadas are warm and ready instantly and they have complementary sauces. The three flavors I ordered were incredible--chicken, malbec beef, and spinach. Jackfruit, Beef, and Ham & Cheese were my husband's picks. Three empanadas are the perfect amount for a meal. This place definitely makes the list of spots I'll visit frequently.

Currently they have a second location in Westfield UTC and plan to open a third location in Long Beach. [Parking]: Parking can be somewhat difficult during busy weekends, but there are designated parking lots throughout Liberty Station so it will require a bit of patience and driving around to find an available spot. [Menu]: Yelp's top recommended items include Chicken Chipotle Empanada (chipotle seasoned shredded chicken, cilantro, red bell pepper, sautéed onion), Malbec Beef Empanada (24-hour ground beef marinated in Argentinian wine, raisins, sautéed onion), and Beef Empanada (Traditionally seasoned ground beef, green olive, red bell pepper, sautéed onion). One empanada = $4 and three empanadas = $11.25. Each empanada comes with one complimentary sauce (chimichurri, chipotle chimichurri, or green olive). *** Chicken Chipotle, Malbec Beef and Beef (three for $11.25): Each empanada has a hot stamp so customers know which flavor is which. The Malbec beef was flavorful and was my favorite. Both Beef and Chicken Chipotle empanadas were alright. Personally I wasn't too crazy about any of the sauces I sampled. *** A decent spot for a quick bite, but this place is not something I would drive out of my way for.

This little store is inside the Bakeshop by Coco Playa so the sign is hard to spot. They sell açaí bowls (in a cup) and smoothies + Brazilian cheese bread :) The acai is smooth and creamy, and I liked how it was sweet (honey added) and didn't melt very quickly. Super tasty! They do a good job layering on the toppings and making the cup look pretty. There's an option to do half acai and half coconut sorbet; the sorbet was super sweet and packed a punch of coconut flavor-- so good and refreshing! The blueberries seemed thawed from frozen so some of them were still frosty but they were still sweet. MT really enjoyed the pistachio butter too. They did away with their Tuesday special of unlimited toppings, but now you get unlimited regular toppings everyday with regular+ sizes. Premium options (like protein powder, pistachio butter, almond butter, goji berries, etc) come with an additional cost. Definitely pricey but a special, fun, and tasty treat! We enjoyed Açaí Carioca so much we went 3 times in a week! This location has better parking (a shopping plaza lot), was less busy, friendlier service, and had a few seats outside compared to their other location. If you're craving a refreshing and somewhat healthy treat, check this place out!

It's SO good, I highly recommend the coconut sorbet to any coconut fan! The texture and flavor of real açaí here is so amazing, completely a different experience from any of the other açaí places. That makes this my favorite açaí spot I've tried so far in San Diego. The Brazilian bread is super addicting as well!
