I was driving by this establishment and noticed the front store signage. I was so intrigued and wanted to know more about reiki and the art of sound bath. This was my very first time time doing sound bath mediation at Soul Awakening. It was surreal to feel the vibration through my soul.. It certainly calmed my body and mind with deep relaxation. I agree with some of the other reviews, the venue is not as impressive as some other places, and it was not the easiest to find but it was a good massage and worth the price. I think the Massage Therapists name was Bunnet, she escorted me to the room told me to undress and get under the sheet, she returned a few minutes later, asked if I had any medical issues and if ok to walk on me, but she did not check the pressure throughout the massage but it was ok, it could have been a little firmer. Nice technique on arms, hands, shoulders, back, etc. They use tables instead of pad on the floor but the room was a little cold, and the table was not heated. I was offered water at the end. Exactly 1 hour. I got the $48 special for 1 hour deep tissue/Thai stretching combo massage on the 1st Thursday of the month during the Laguna Beach Art Walk. Great price! Got the Groupon deal for a couples massage with my boyfriend. The two masseuses were welcoming; my masseuse asked me if I had any injuries or anything before the massage. They used virgin coconut oil which felt very soothing (and it's good for your skin)! I like that she told me to let her know what pressure level I wanted, making sure I would be comfortable. Later on, she used hot stones on me, which I never experienced until now. The hot stones were my favorite part of the massage because they helped me relax the most. It was at a good temperature level for me (but not for my boyfriend LOL), so I would only recommend hot stones if you're not too sensitive to heat. She also massaged my head towards the end, which left my hair oily (because of the coconut oil lotion) and feeling dirty/messy.. but the head massage did make me feel more relaxed. Also, if you decide to give tip, it's a minimum of $10 per masseuse. read more

Yesterday My girlfriend and I went for a couple massage after the massage was over,one the girls who massaged us followed us in the hallway and asked for more money after we tipped her! she was very rude and forceful and angry and wouldn't let us leave until we paid her more money! felt like we are being robbed and made us uncomfortable and ruined the whole experience . It was an awful experience just be aware of that when you go there I live in Laguna Beach myself and will tell people about this as well.I get a lots of Thai massages in different places and this was the first time I encountered this behavior. Channa is an amazing healing therapist. She is very in tuned with the issues you may have going on in your body and with your chakras. There is a great Groupon out for the body scrub and light massage as well as a 1 hour massage with the hot stone lava rocks. I have had many of the other therapists there and they all are very conscious of the amount of pressure being applied. My boss got me a gift certificate for Christmas for this place for a much deserved massage. I was so looking forward to it. I called ahead to make an appointment and to ensure it hadn't expired. When I showed up they refused to accept the gift certificate that was pre paid for saying that they have new owners now so they could not accept it. (Worth over $100) not only did they waste his money but It's ridiculous that I called ahead to ask and told them I had an older certificate. Instead they made drive all the way to Laguna Beach only to refuse to accept the gift certificate. If you are taking on responsibility of a company including name, location & ownership of that company then why wouldn't you honor the gift cards issued? I GOT ROCKED. In a good way. There was no better way to start a five year anniversary of marriage than coming to Sawadee for a good ol' spanking. The wife and I got a tandem massage for $120. Booked for an hour and they spent 1:15 on us. I had never had a Thai massage before and I was delightfully surprised by the techniques used. They focused a lot on my legs and I got all twisted up and stretched. It felt SOOOOO GOOOOOD. :) A word of caution: If you've never had a Thai massage before, prepare to be put in interesting positions that make you feel a bit vulnerable. They also massage in spots that other traditional massages may look over. Just trust your masseuse and enjoy getting things rubbed and twisted in ways you never thought were possible. The business name has changed to Bay Thai Massage. My sister-in-law and I are in Laguna Beach and went in for 1-hr massages 2 days ago. We were both surprised at what a fantastic experience it was. Though the venue isn't impressive-- the back of the Village Faire shops-- there is free parking in the back. More importantly, they offer a terrific 1-hr combo of Thai massage and oil massage, and use a hot towel to wipe off oil after working on each section of the body. We each had our own room and a massage table. Unlike my other experiences wearing loose fitting clothes for Thai massage, this one uses only a towel for coverage, though in a private room there's less concern for modesty. The women were clearly very experienced and attentive, checking in a few times about pressure and areas to focus on. We felt like we were floating on air walking out. Highly recommended! read more

The woman who did my massage told me her name, but I was butt naked and zoning out on the massage table at the time. I wasn't going to remember nothing! She started the massage off by standing and walking on my back. No one's ever walked all over me before, but I really liked it. I guess it was a good thing that the ceilings were low! The actual massage was excellent; I feel totally relaxed now. At the end, my masseuse stretched me out, as is standard for Thai massage. My body was moving in directions I didn't know it could! I was there for an hour, and it only cost me $50. That's the cheapest massage I've ever received. I tipped well ($20) and promised to be back. At that price, you can't go wrong. The place is small but serene as you enter and the room was well appointed. As for the massage, it was amazing - one of the best if not the best massage I have ever had. Traditional Thai style with a lot of body pressure including hands, forearms, fingertips, knees and feet (walking on my back). Lots of stretching and great deep muscle penetration. Called to book an appointment and was told there is a new owner and I should call Groupon for a refund (although the same deal is offered on Groupon still). If you are not frail and have a pretty high tolerance for pain and you want to get the knots out, this would be for you - my back was definitely snap, crackling and popping.
