FOOD WAS EXCELLENT! If im being honest, when me and my lady first got seated we were a bit skeptical of the place as the menu seemed very limited with not much traditional sushi options available. HOWEVER, once we talked to our server, she let us know that there were plenty of options that we could get that we didn't know/see on the menu. When we got our food we were in absolute awe. The presentation of the food was stunning, where it was clearly noticeable that the attention to detail for each plate served was superior. This place also served us with some amazing sauces that they make in house. We were sure to try everything they brought to our table as it was all unique and extremely delicious! Tried Soto today for my first time. It's located inside of the Grand Casino in Shawnee. Had a eye appt out there and my doc said his patient used to work there and said that they are always getting fresh sushi in. I got there around 1230 for lunch. And there was one lady picking up a to go order. No one else during the 30 min I was there. The staff was so sweet. The sushi chef never stopped smiling. They heard my order wrong (salmon roe vs salmon roll) and instantly got on it. Immediately suggested I keep the mistake one and the sushi chef and waitress giggled about it once they heard. It was sweet and I'm glad they found it funny and not frustrating! The fish seemed fresh. Their menu had about what you would expect for a sushi restaurant. Rolls were about 12-15$. Nigiri around 5-8$. And they do have more traditional Japanese sushi items like Donburi bowls etc. they also had poke bowls. I didn't order them but will never time I visit. However the rolls had way too much rice. I know this can be a common problem but typically it doesn't bother me too much. However, this time I do have to say this was so heavy on the rice that it took away from the fish. I'd go back though if in town! read more

The sushi wasn't as high in quality as past visits here. There was only one other table in addition to the table my girlfriend and I were sitting at. My girlfriend got her sushi roll promptly. I on the other hand had to wait 30 minutes. I overheard management talking about comping the roll for me which would have been nice but not expected. I ended up just paying full price. All in all I'm just disappointed in the overall experience compared to past ones. read more

Atmosphere is a big part of the sushi experience and Soto delivers. It is peaceful, quiet and a nice environment for dining. I've eaten both lunch and dinner at least 20 times and it has been excellent every time. I often get spicy tuna and they have always been nice to add a small sliver of lemon and jalapeño to my roll, just like I love it. The fried rice is full of flavor with a great ginger nuance. The cucumber appetizer is good with tsushi or hot entrees. I eat here with friends and family and I've never heard of a bad experience or meal. If you don't eat sushi, their other options are tasty as well. Like any good sushi restaurant, portions are not huge but dishes never disappoint. Soto has long been a favorite for us when visiting the Grand Casino. We were there for lunch on this visit, and made use of a coupon that the Players Club made available. I wish I had gotten her first name, but B Gonzales brought our Edamame, Tuna Volcano, and My35 Roll in record time. The food is amazing here! One small complaint---we wanted a couple of cocktails, had to wait on a casino waitress to bring them, and eventually, my husband went down to get them from a casino bar himself. I know it was lunch, but they need to figure that out for the comfort of those that will definitely be back! read more

The sushi rolls were great but the portion size was disappointing. My husband and I shared 3 specialty sushi rolls between us at $12 each and miso soups and we were still hungry. (We bought 20-piece chicken nuggets on our way home lol) Their sushi rolls are pretty unique though and their fish tastes fresh. I would recommend the Smokie roll if you like eel. The restaurant seating is pretty limited though so I suggest making a reservation just to be safe. read more

I dropped into Soto for lunch while staying at the Grand. I was alone so I sat at the sushi bar. The sushi chefs are so well trained. One of the guys and I struck up conversation and he informed me since the casino has the funding they actually brought sushi masters in to train the chefs, and they rolled sushi 8 hours a day until they had their technique down, it totally shows. I was so impressed for the quality of food, & skill at the bar. My rolls were phenomenal and the chefs gave me a couple of their house sauces to try. The server was ok at best (15 minutes for my sake and a solid 10 after that for her to come back so I could ask for a water) but the chefs made the meal for sure. The chef was excellent, he brought our food and explained the dish and what to try his sauce with. I gave the lower rating due to staff.. first off, when we walked in the restaurant was empty and they said sit wherever you would like.. it was my husband and I and we sat at a four top that had a better view then the rest of the place and she said I can't allow you to sit there.. then don't tell us we can go anywhere. Also the price on the menu didn't match the check, they up charged our dish. When we confronted them of this is took 27 minutes for them to figure out why. Chef Soto has created a menu perfect for the area and also for visitors who have had sushi on the east or west coast. The fish is always fresh and the rolls are delicious. There are the usual popular roles but also some he has created himself that are delicious. My favorite is the spicy roll with shrimp and he adds little tiny slices of lemon and jalapeno when I asked him to. I have also had the shipwreck soup which is very nice although the octopus is a little tough. I have had the yobi soba noodles with beef and they are tasty and rich. My daughter's favorite is the fried rice which if you add chicken, beef, or shrimp makes a nice lunch. The atmosphere is clean crisp and very nice. The wait staff are all local and very friendly. Service is fast and helpful. I highly recommend this place for sushi lovers dribing through on interstate 40 but also locals looking for something new and fresh and healthy. read more

So my wife and I are big sushi fans and we were excited to try Soto. But so far it's been a disappointment. There aren't that many people here and we waited a little bit to order, and I t's now 45 minutes and we're still waiting for our food. To their credit, they did finally apologize and bring a complimentary appetizer...and a second.... The sushi had better be excellent or we'll drive the extra distance and visit our OKC places. The platter described as "serving 2-3" would not have been enough without the comp. appetizers (and the soup and edamame we already got). They did give it their best, but I recommend they go to Sushi Neko in OKC and take some notes. read more

Came in for lunch on the recommendation of another casino employee, and will definitely coming back! My sister and I came in for lunch, Lacey was our server. She greeted us and the first thing she asked was "have you dined with us before?" And when my sister had told her no, she asked if we needed any suggestions or help with the menu. Being first timers to Soto, though not our first time at a sushi restaurant, we didn't recognize some of the rolls and asked her for some suggestions. She was very thorough! She knew the menu and immediately helped us feel like we'd eaten there a million times. After telling her that we loved avocados and cream cheese she suggested the Philadelphia roll. We LOVED it! We also ordered steamed rice. We asked for a side of spicy mayo and she brought us not only the spicy mayo but a house sauce called "Soto sauce" which she said we may enjoy because it's "kind of spicy, kind of sweet". She also brought us a side of Eel sauce and explained that it's just a sweet soy, and that she loves to put it on her steamed rice instead of regular soy because it adds so much more flavor. We loved all the sauces she brought us. We loved HER especially! I've never had such friendly service. We were not her only table, it was lunch time during the week and the attention she paid us, and her other tables, was a credit to her skills as a waitress. Our glasses were never empty, and as soon as a plate was empty it was gone off the table. This woman deserves to be recognized for her skills and knowledge of the restaurant and the service that she provides! We will definitely be back!!!! Their bora bora is too die for!!! I do not like anything but the California roll but I tried the bora bora and it is amazing!!

It was good sushi for Oklahoma, especially considering it was in a casino. If it was closer to the coast, it probably would have been a 3. We got the rainbow roll, spider roll, snow crab California and potstickers. I had my doubts walking in, but the only semi-bad thing was the salmon as it tasted off. The crab was pretty good and so was everything else. Staff was very good and most staff members helped us out at some point or another, even the manager. The service was nice but the sushi was horrid. My husband and I went for his birthday to the casino and decided to eat there because we love sushi. We couldn't even finish what we ordered because the quality was so bad. The nigiri pieces were way to big and the tuna I couldn't t even bit through it. Our spicy tuna rolls were mush. We love this place and don't usually choose to go anywhere else, even in OKC. There are several roll choices made without rice, which is nice. The fish is always so fresh. And if you get anything with cooked fish, it's cooked perfect. They also have amazing wasabi Bloody Mary's. read more

Went there for lunch and the entire staff was phenomenal! From the moment we walked up we were greeted and checked on the entire time. The chef also heard that we had never tried octopus before and made us a plate to try and several sauces. Brought them out to our table and was so nice! I wouldn't go anywhere else for sushi!
