Very authentic...as far as I know! Sushi was fresh and well made. Not too crowded even though they were busy.

The hibachi filet/steak was delicious. Service was fast and attentive. Quiet place to eat. Will return to try other options.

Food isn't the same quality as it used to be which I could overlook but now after order $51 of food, they wanted to charge for 2 small (2oz) sauces and then proceeded to tell me it's because everywhere charges for to go sauces. I get that but also that doesn't mean they have to. I could see with a small order but we ordered a whole dinner and 3 rolls of sushi and wanted sauce. Makes no sense :( read more

An excellent choice for Asian food in Shawnee. We stopped here for lunch on Saturday around 11 o'clock and they were fairly busy but we're immediately seated. Their best known for their hibachi and their sushi and for obvious reasons the sushi was divine. The atmosphere is that of a typical Asian hibachi restaurant and the portions and the prices are more than fair. I had a Bento box with teriyaki salmon, fried rice, Geisel, sushi and tempura shrimp. My sister had two sushi rolls and we ordered two appetizers for the table, takoyaki and yakatori. The service was excellent and the waitress was very attentive. Although the sushi was wonderful I couldn't put my finger on why the teriyaki salmon was a little bit off but definitely not terrible. Terrible food. Not authentic. Very amateurish. The place is dirty and needs a good mopping, sweeping and disinfecting. Overpriced and not worth it. I try to go to all the Shawnee mom and pop businesses and I will not be back. Service was ok. The staff likes to talk amongst themselves rather than check on their patrons. I used to love this place but the last time I went, the service was terrible and the food was slow coming out even though I was the only patron in the restaurant. I figured I could still order to-go in the future. Then a few weeks ago, the water went out in the mall due a line break. Everyone else stayed closed but they opened back up two hours before the water came back on. I don't care if they bought water or used all the hand sanitizer in the world, they deal with raw fish and they didn't have running water. Never again. read more

Took a friend to lunch here -- his birthday lunch choice, not mine. Gotta be honest -- I was not looking forward to it. Their online menu focused on sushi, and I am absolutely NOT a fan of sushi. But it was my friends birthday restaurant choice, so I rolled with it. Looking at the menu, I discovered their lunch choices, which included several hibachi choices. I selected the filet mignon hibachi lunch meal for $14 -- and BOY was I surprised! Excellent flavor, good veggies, and good fried rice. Also included some good soup and a salad -- which I didn't eat because it was too much food for $14!!! I was very pleasantly surprised, and will be happy to eat here again any time! read more

Went in on a Tuesday night at 7PM and it wasn't too busy. We were seated immediately but it was all downhill from there. My girlfriend and I got our orders ready and closed our menus. At this point it took about 10 minutes for a waitress to come back and take our order...which felt like way too long. Our waitress kept walking by looking bored but took forever to come back to the table to talk to us. After she came back 10 minutes later I ordered the Dinner Bento with Pork Katsu and upgraded to the fried rice. My girlfriend ordered Spicy Crab Roll, Lobster Roll, and shrimp & veg tempura. We also ordered the crab rangoon. My salad and miso soup that came out with my bento came out first. It was ok but nothing special. At this point one of the waitresses noticed we hadn't been given silverware yet so she brought us some and I was able to eat my salad. My girlfriends two rolls came out next along with the crab rangoon. The sushi was probably a 3/5, about average. The crab rangoon was actually the star of the show being high up there with the best I have had but probably would rate them a 4/5. We were never given chopsticks so my girlfriend got up and grabbed some off the sushi bar counter when she noticed where they were. Why were we not given chopsticks at a Japanese restaurant? My bento came out next and I started to eat it. I noticed the Katsu was missing and when I asked the waitress she assured it was coming out. Instead of my Katsu coming out, a manager type woman came out with a slip showing our order and how they mixed it up in the kitchen. They accidentally gave me shrimp and veg tempura instead of Katsu. At this point they said they would cook my Katsu and bring it out but that the tempura my girlfriend had ordered was on my bento...which I had already eaten some of because my bento also stated it came with tempura...and my girlfriend was not happy. Instead of making this right and sending us the app portion of shrimp and veg tempura my girlfriend had ordered they pretty much brought out the receipt and said "oops, deal with it". This was probably THE WORST customer service experience my girlfriend and I have ever had. **The waitresses took way too long to check in on us. **They didn't initially bring us silverware and didn't bring us chopsticks at all...we had to go find them. **They never brought us a dish for our soy sauce, we just used the soup spoon that came with my miso soup to hold it and mix the soy sauce and wasabi together. **Our waitress never wrote down our order and that's probably why they messed everything up. **Manager seemed to just be worried about turning a profit instead of helping turn a bad experience into a good one for their customers. We are from out of state and thought we would give Sakura in Shawnee OK a shot while staying in a hotel nearby...but it turned out to be a nightmare experience. If I lived near here I would never come back...and in fact, I would cringe anytime I saw the sign for the restaurant. If you choose to eat here take this review into consideration. I've had literally like 70% of all the food they serve it's one of my favorite places. Pros: they have a huge selection of fresh sushi and sashimi, they have the best miso soup and salad with yum yum sauce I've ever had (and I've been to an unreasonably high number of sushi restaurants that serve these with their entrees) Their hibachi is pretty good. Cons: it's pretty expensive. They refuse to put wasabi under your sushi rice when making it because "it'll ruin the flavor profile" so I have to add a dab myself which is annoying. I considered leaving this comment out but I feel like it would be an unfair review not to tell you guys. They've given me food poisoning from some sushi nigiri one time. BUT I didn't hold it against them and I've been there since and if it happens again I'll update my review and lower the stars but as of right now, it's been about a year since the food poisoning occurred and it hasn't happened to me or anyone I know since then! I highly recommend this place just make sure you bring at least $60 + for 2 people to eat just to be on the safe side. My bill for 2 people is usually about $50 not counting a tip. read more

I used to come here almost every week when I lived in Shawnee. After I moved, I couldn't find a sushi place I liked, either it was too expensive or the sushi was low in quality. I miss Sakura in Shawnee. Today was the first time in a long time that I have been able to stop and order my favorites. During all of this virus craziness, you remember how easy and nice it was to be able to walk in any restaurant when you wanted to. Today, my order was a little wrong, well, more of low quality than what I had hoped for after this long. I called them back and asked if I could possibly get it remade. No long story or begging, they were more than happy to make sure I had the sushi I craved. We decided to try Sakura for the first time. We were greeted promptly and sat at our table. When the food arrived it was presented well. The food itself was unfortunately tasteless and greasy. The staff was courteous and offered to remake it but we declined. We won't be returning. Pro : Staff courteous and attentive. Cons: Decor is old and the restaurant seems cluttered. Great place to go if you want to walk in the door and have everyone that works there look at you(besides the young lady that never looked up from her phone) strangely. Had a terrible experience here this past weekend. Was with a larger party and the service took a while and the food wasn't the best. First, they informed us they ran out of soup and said they would make a fresh batch and bring it to us as soon as it was done. We didn't get the soon to until the last 10 mins we were there and already finished our food- not to mention it was terrible. Second, the waiter forgot an order (it was for my one year old so it was a little bit aggravating, didn't even try to fix it). Third, the cook wasn't not prepared and ran out of food not once, but three times. The first and second time the cook had someone else bring him food, for the last time he just cut the food into smaller pieces. I would not recommend this restaurant. The food and service was just ok. I would highly suggest driving to OKC to indulge in this style of food and service. read more

My husband and I were at the mall this evening and decided to try this restuarant. We had the steak, chicken and shrimp for two. They brought a broth and salad, which were awesome. The dressing on the salad was really good. Then they came to fix our dinner. The young man did an impressive "show" for us before he started cooking, which we got a kick out of. Then fried rice ... shrimp, steak, chicken .... veggies ..... it was all very, very good! We totally enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and the fact that it was inside the mall, we didn't have to drive somewhere else to eat. We had reserved seating for 9 people on a Saturday evening and we had to wait an hour before we actually got our food, which was a pain, but it's a small restaurant and they seem to be working as hard as they can. I had only been to one Hibachi restaurant before and compared to that experience this was 100% better! My kids who are 5 and 7 and all of us adults had a blast! Stopped for some hibachi on the way back to OKC. The food was good overall but everything seemed to have a sweet taste. The sauce on the sushi was supposed to be a spicy mayo and was sweet and the sauces for the hibachi were also sweet. Last time I was here the guy tried to pee on me. He used a dressing container that is designed to look like he was trying to pee on me but I take it very personally. Great food though. 9/10 highly recommend. read more
