Last time I was here the guy tried to pee on me. He used a dressing container that is designed to look like he was trying to pee on me but I take it very personally. Great food though. 9/10 highly recommend. read more

Sushi was really good. The hibachi however was horrible. Our cook maybe spent 10 minutes cooking 3 meals, vegetables were way under cooked and the rice, steak and scallops had no flavor. The portion sizes were ridiculous for a $27 a piece meal. We each maybe had 5 tiny cubes of steak a piece. read more

Finally hibachi in Shawnee! The food is very good and fresh. The service is friendly, fun, and attentive. I highly recommend.

I'll start by saying we still like Sakura. It's the best sushi in Shawnee, for what that is worth. We have been about 4 times since it opened, and the service is good. The sushi and appetizers are also very good. We have not tried the hibachi. Be warned, on the "basic rolls", the spicy tuna is not what you would expect. This is usually a normal tuna roll with Sriracha sauce inside and/or wasabi. Not so here- it is minced tuna, tempura flake and spicy mayo. It's hard to tell if it is fresh minced tuna, but did not taste as such. When questioned about it, they confirmed it was what they consider a spicy tuna and to "remember for next time". No offer to replace the roll with a few pieces of fresh tuna roll or to knock off the $2 for a 3rd roll on the lunch plate. Pretty poor service I feel. One bad visit in 4 tries. We will try again, and we will be sure to "remember". read more

Tonight we ate here. We eat here a lot the lady that runs it most of the time is great! The waitress told my husband he could not substitute anything when the owner is always willing. I think the food is going down hill the past two times we have dined. I hope we don't have to mark it off our list. read more

I love Japanese steakhouses when there good. This is one of the better ones. I use to drive to the city but I don't have to anymore. The steak and shrimp is pretty good. Service could have been better though. read more

I've been here several times and have really enjoyed it! Today's visit was horrible. I don't think the waiter could speak English... none! There were four adults and two children (2&5). We ordered drinks four times and he still didn't get it right! 3 waters, 1 sweet tea and 2 rootbeers for the kids. He brought them in the large adult's cup. I asked for to go cups for them and he brought them back with no straws! We ordered our food, 3 hibachi steak, 1 hibachi chicken (which all come with soup,salad and rice), firecracker roll and California roll. We ask for our soups and salads now. 20 minutes later he brought out 1 soup and 2 salads. I said we should have four soups and 4 salads. He was totally confused. I stated again 3 steak and 1 chicken. 30 minutes later got all our food except one steak. 10 minutes later it came out. Went to pay our $90+ tab and there were 5 sodas on there. He's totally confused again. Steak was tough, food cold and very poor service!!! read more

Went there with a large party and had a reservation for 6:30. Ended up finally being seated at 8 pm, had to wait another 15 minutes to order drinks, then another 15 minutes to order an appetizer which ended up taking 15 minutes to get also. After talking to the manager he said the wait was so long because other people took so long to eat and that it was not their fault that it took us so long to be seated. He was very rude and said if I was in the restaurant business then I would understand. We also had the waitress forget orders and had to wave them down to order again. The hibachi chef finally came over close to 9pm and we got to eat. So it took over two and a half hours from the time of reservation before we got to eat. The manager said there was nothing they could do to help us and make our experience better. The food was good and I love hibachi but I would definitely not eat here because the service was so horrible and management is rude and refused to confront problems. Would have been a fun experience if the service was better and we didn't have to wait so long to eat, which is what the point of having a reservation is. I'd recommend eating at Phoenix Asian Diner if you're wanting sushi and Asian food in Shawnee. read more
