By following the SOTA program, I successfully lost a significant amount of weight for the first time. I was 8lbs from goal. I lost about 40lbs. However, I couldn't afford to continue. I found that the breakfast cereal and pancakes were great and still eat those. I also liked the milkshakes and pudding and the protein bars. I added cauliflower rice to all of the lunch soups. I also purchased salmon and grilled chicken patties to add to meal prep. I also have green beans etc. I ate eggs and bacon a few days a week. I also felt that the cost of the program forced me to stay very diligent and nearly completely adherent. I refused to waste my money. The staff was very, very supportive. My husband and I made the mistake of contacting SOTA about their weight loss program. When asked about the food on the program, the information provided on the phone was extremely vague. The box arrived a few days later containing what they refer to as a "2 weeks supply of food". I have included a picture of what was in the box. We did not sign the agreement with SOTA and instead opted to not move forward with the program since it is basically shakes, bars and packaged mixes. SOTA had charged our account $3,900 so I contacted them about a refund, less the items received. We received a refund today for $2,600, which is $1,300 less than what was originally charged. There is no way the items received is worth that much money. I regret ever contacting them in the first place. Be ready to empty your wallet for a meal plan that is no different than Optavia, NutraSystems, etc. with the exception they are ridiculously expensive. read more

Sota weight works to take ponds off, but not nearly as quickly as they advertise. It is also too expesive for what it is. I spent over $2500 for first 20 pounds over about three months and was then told I needed to pay another $1500 for reach my goal of 200 pounds. I nerver did reach the goal. Overall I did go from 250 lbs. to 213 lbs. in about 6 months. I lost on average about 1.5 poinds per week, not the 4 pounds per week they advertise. As soon as I stopped the program I gained all the weight back within the following six months. The weekly counselling was pretty worthless after a few weeks and became just a weekly check the box where the advisor seemed like she just wanted to get me off the phone as soon as possible. There was absolutely no follow-up provided after my paid period was up. My userid and password would no longer work for their menu website and I never receive any follow-up call and they never returned any of my follow-up calls. read more

I signed up for SOTA for 2 reasons. One was to lose the weight, the second was to keep it off. I knew too many people who had lost the weight and after, gained it all back and more. On the first count, I did lose the weight. I lost 70 lbs in 7 1/2 months. I did what they recommended and you have to know you CANNOT cheat, at all! When I asked about things like holidays, family parties, vacations, etc. I was told to lose the weight and we would address those things. When I had hit the end of the time frame I paid for, I was within 5 pounds of my goal weight. I was told to start adding items in and keep my carbs low. They recommended a 3rd party app to track and I was on my own. When we had the first post diet check-in, I had gained 5 pounds. There advice was to go back to a strict diet but without any of the foods they had provided or any of the calls to keep my accountable. The next month, when I hadn't lost the 5 pounds, I was told that I would have to start paying again to get any other help. When they advertise that they teach you to think differently about food, that NEVER happened. It was don't eat anything but what we tell you to and then when you meet the time frame, it was good luck, you are on your own. It is very costly for what you get. I went to the Southlake weight loss center. The young women were very nice and I was on a roll losing my weight. I hadn't reached my weight loss goal but was started on maintenance. I went back to weigh in and was starting to gain back my weight. I assumed the maintenance program was ongoing but the young woman who had been working with me had left. I was told I didn't need to come back. I spent all of that money and did not receive my full service. I have gained much of my weight back, which I know is my responsibility, but I feel I didn't get the full program to help me keep it off. I'm so disappointed in myself and this company. It was a lot of money to part with for me. I feel the care for helping me to reach my goal was not there and that I did not get what I paid for. read more

After about seven months following the SOTA program I am down 75 pounds and living much healthier! According to their protocols, feeling hungry or tired, requires an adjustment, that proved to make the program pretty easy to follow. The fact that the food was delicious was great too! SOTA Weight Loss is using the same exact packaged food as another company called PHD weight loss. I did the PHD program and I have to believe the programs are very similar in nature. There is probably another company behind it all that is offering some type of franchise opportunity here. The program essentially involves eating 5 meals a day. Four of the meals involve prepackaged meals (see photo from another reviewer) with the 5th meal being dinner that you make yourself using the program's guidelines. You are also assigned a coach with whom you meet weekly in person or over the phone. You will lose weight fast on this program, mainly due to calorie restriction. They also allow you to consume healthy fats which helps with hunger control. But there are a number of drawbacks: 1. The program in VERY expensive, around $1000 to $1200 a month. 2. The packaged food is heavily processed and contains some questionable ingredients. 3. For the meals you make yourself, they are very adamant about making sure you choose "approved" natural whole foods that do not contain questionable ingredients such as artificial sweeteners, seed oils etc. YET most of the packaged food they give you contains these very same types of ingredients! It's hypocritical to be honest. 4. The coaches are nice and encouraging, but at the end of the day they really don't provide value equivalent to the cost you're paying for the program. My advice - if you have tried other ways to lose weight to no avail, and if you can afford the cost, and it you don't mind eating packaged food, give it a shot. You'll lose the weight if you follow the program. But will your metabolic health improve? That's another question. read more

The program is not worth the investment! You can lose a lot of weight cutting your calories down to nothing! Once you lose weight and have very few pounds left and should be given maintenance. Sota says you have to lose the visceral fat. So your body is not losing anymore. All they can do is keep cutting calories. You are starving at the end, not losing weight while they continue to charge you a lot every week! So you have lost a lot of weight and the maintenance is so important! They refused to give that until the visceral fat is gone. What? After all of the money paid, I would think they would give you the maintenance program. You will not succeed after losing weight since they will not help you. Also, they are very limited in their knowledge. It's totally not worth the money! My husband and I signed up last year for this program. The food they sent was barely "food" and the counselor said we should just eat the candy bars they sent since the meals were really unappealing. The acceptible food lists for regular food was also really minimal with few vegetables. Anyway, when we told them the "counseling" was not actually worth anything to us and we didn't want to continue. We don't want to live on candy bars. We asked for a refund and they said they "don't give refunds" because their food is proprietary! Really! Who would copy it? I told her to send me the food we had paid for and I would save it for the apocalypse. No, I was told the food is "free" and if we didn't want to proceed I had no recourse. We threw away thousands of dollars on a few weeks of trying to live on powdered food and candy bars. I would say this is a scam. read more

Well I finally called. The rep that I talk to on Face time seemed to know the product. We schedule will not allow me to do 5 meals a day. I am a 73 year old female retired chef and do not have to have meals cooked for me. I do not need prepacked meals. I can not afford the amount of money they are asking to have meals, shakes, snacks sent to me. I will not out on a credit card and accrue a new debt. I told the lady that I have a heart condition that will no allow me to walk as I have been told about. I only need to lose about 25 pounds. It is difficult to find food when I am working trade shows. I understand the program is not for every one. But this program sounds like it expects everyone to be a square plug in a square hole only. No ability to work with an individuals needs. I heard bullet points, no carbs no sugar no fruits. less fat than the Keto diet. I am moving on. I joined so the weight loss at the beginning of November 2022. My intention was to lose 25 pounds but my main intention was finding a way to eat that was manageable and be fit as a male over 50. Within two months I had lost the desired weight and within 3 months after that, dropped an additional 20 pounds. It's really all about changing eating habits, food choices and having a commitment. You cannot do this program without being committed to doing it. Many people who fail on this program are not failing because of the program, they're failing because of themselves. I can't say whether the program works or not because I elected to not try it after finding out it was going to cost me $70 per pound lost. The price is high, yes, but that's not the reason for my review. I'm leaving this review because they forced me to pay a $25 fee just to hear their sales pitch and then find out the cost. That is not a customer-centric business model in my mind. I should have known the price would be in the stratosphere the second they wouldn't give me any information about the program without a $25 fee. Shame on me for that. Both me and my husband both past 50s had started SOTA since late 2023 we are almost done with our program and about to reach our goals (hubby lost more than 40lbs and am past 30lbs - goal was to loose 50lbs each). The program works as long as you follow all the recommended food and timing of meals. First week before we started we got rid of all our high sugar and high carb items and bought exactly what the recommendations were in the program. Quality of products were great and very pleasant team and friendly people. I have tried a lot of different diets but never got this successful, for us it is very sustainable and realistic. The main goal was not just to loose weight but to stay healthy and able to maintain the program/concept forever. Our primary provider was very happy to see our labwork and results on our last check up. I am no longer pre-diabetic and doing daily activities I feel lighter and healthier. I understand it cost a lot but we decided to put the best investment on ourselves which is getting "HEALTHY"! Had lowered all our HgbA1c dramatically and cholesterol levels as well, we don't take any maintenance meds at all. Thanks SOTA!!! read more

Wow, so here is the deal, this place is a scam. You will notice there is no pricing on their website. They bombard you with facts and figures and then they want $2,600 on the spot and no, you can't pay that weekly. So the cost is $260 a week payable up front. Just take a pass and get the Keto diet that will cost less than what you pay for a month of Sota. Almost all their clients are older. The younger clients were all radio talk show hosts so they must be getting it for free I have lost 33 pounds I and have paid $250. read more

I read a lot of great reviews about SOTA and some not so great. I entered the program for six week, paid a good deal of money to join. The first week or so I did lose about 6 pounds which I thought was great. I'm sure if I would have stuck with it, I could have done better but the regiment got to me. The 'food' they send is unimaginative, boring and not very good. The weekly phone call is more of a 'keep it going' and 'atta boy' than instructional. But I don't know what I expected; after all it is up to me. The pluses are that it can work if you stick to it and you can afford to pay the price financially. The minuses are that I could do the same thing on my own. I can't rely on weekly calls to keep me motivated after all. So I went off the program, and decided to do it on my own. Cut back on the starches, off the sugary drinks, off the evening snacks before and after dinner, reduced my portions in size. I also got my body to the gym and worked out more. I've lost over 20 pounds on my own and I feel better that I did it myself rather than depending on 'counselors' or prepared dry food in packages to make it happen. I see it as a weight loss program that like Adkins and all the other low carb diets will run its course and a new and better one will take its place. They do a lot of advertising, expensive for sure, get the DJ's and commentators on the program, I assume for free. The tout it and brag about how much weight they have lost, and good for them. But give them a year or two and I can help but think they will be back to the weight they started at because I see the 'maintenance' portion of SOTA having its own issues. Good luck out there. Slow is good, it takes patience and commons sense solutions. I have completed 5weeks. The support & guidance is EXCELLENT!!! In the 5wks I have lost 22.2lbs by strictly adhering to both the nutritional plan & the suggested exercise regimen. I still have a ways to go, yet now I know I can do it! Also the drinks and bars are my favorites! I sure hope I can still buy them after I complete my program. Teresa my coach is simply the best! Actually the whole team is wonderful! From the moment you walk in, to each tough moment or question, they are there for you! I have completed my 3 months for $3300. I have lost 20#. I paid up front & they pressured me for a lot more. The "lifelong support" is not a reason to pay that high price. I agree with Gary! I actually started my 14-year old on this program. We are two weeks in and she is already down over 12 pounds! She has a goal of 64 pounds total, but she is well on her way. We tried other diets for her, but for a 14-year old, it was difficult to keep the excitement of a "diet" plan interesting or motivating when we ended up seeing very little weight loss from other plans we tried. I can tell you that because SOTA has so many great food options and drinks, my daughter has found it "EASY".... wait... what?! But it's true. No other diet had these kind of results and because of these kind of results, my 14-year old has stayed motivated to stick with the program! Plus she really loves the counselor we meet with each week and actually finds their bars and drinks likable. She told me the bars are not "powdery" and do not taste like straight protein powder like many others she has tried in the past. As a penny pincher myself, I do understand where Steve is coming from, but honestly the weekly weigh-ins and meetings with the counselor, challenge my daughter. I just don't think she would be as motivated without the weekly accountability "weigh-ins" and talks with her counselor. For me to see results like this with my teenager (when nothing else seemed to work on our prior diet plans), I think the money spent was well worth it. I would spend double that for my child to feel confident and good about herself. Surprised there was only 1 rating on YELP for this location and wanted to at least provide another experience. Reading the previous (and only) review - I wanted to make sure to share. First, there is no secret with any diet - if you follow them - they work - if you cheat they don't. True with this one as well. Yes SOTA is a "low carb" program - nothing necessarily new (Atkins - 30 years ago and today ketogenic) - essentially the same - limit the carbs each day. And yes, you can learn or get low carb or no carb food anywhere - Amazon, Sprouts, books, etc. I loved my experience with SOTA and why it is/was successful for me is the coaching, they provide your food and schedule for most meals - except evening meal and vegetables as noted in other review.. This makes it easy to follow - and after 8-9 weeks you change your lifestyle and habits and actually look forward to eating (even if it is hydrated soup, pancakes, shakes with vegetables - especially the afternoon bars). My favorite day was Sunday when I treated myself to the blueberry pancake mix, Walden Farms blueberry syrup and Irish butter (all "legal" on the diet). There is no secret - if you do it right you lose the weight - similar to having a personal trainer as you work out - yes you can commit on your own to a gym and showing up and just watch what other people do and mimic - or you can hire a personal coach that keeps you in-line. My guess (and experience) is most often the supervised program has better retention, results and follow-through. This was the case with SOTA - 9 week program to lose 30 pounds, averaged 3-5 each week and hit my goal just by religiously following all of their recommendations. You visit once a week with a counselor - most are previous customers - so they know what you are going through. Having the follow-up each week is important as they can make adjustments as needed - after the first week - they suggested cutting out one of my meal times as I was getting too much protein - then back at losing the 2nd week. There's motivational tapes on-line and the food you get are mostly packets to add water too, but they travel with you and you follow the plan wherever you go. There is a fee - fairly substantial and surprising at first visit, but I'd do it again - and now 3 months later, my lifestyle changed has even let me continue to lose without the weekly visits or $.....down from 28% body fat to 19%. And during your program, they recommend a 30 minute walk per day - that's it, now I'm cycling. But the great thing is not only the supportive people involved in YOUR change, but even after you've paid them the last payment and no longer getting the food, you still have lifetime maintenance - so I go once a month for weigh-in and the support with any questions. And actually once you finish the formal program they give you the suggested/recommended foods and turn you to Amazon.... You can get a coach (e.g. SOTA) or you can do it yourself - I found the experience supportive and successful - easier, more pleasant and faster results than I expected. Obviously there are other benefits of losing weight - with or without SOTA - high fives from your physician and reduction of meds - but when you look at it I actually spent more on new clothes after the weight loss than I did at SOTA - but all worth it. read more

This place is a scam. I tried this program out for a month and did some digging around while I was on the 'diet'. This is nothing more than a Ketogenic diet with third party products that you can buy directly from the vendor, but at a fraction of the cost. For example, after they lured me in, they then showed me the 'food' I would be consuming during the first month. This consisted of powdered meal packets for lunch, to which I would have to provide my own vegetables to complete the meal. Breakfast was either an oatmeal packet or protein cereal packet, and snacks were either a bottled powder protein drink or a protein bar. I was responsible for making my own dinners, consisting of a lean meat and two vegetables. You seeing the pattern here? Little to no carbs, also known as ketogenics. So after doing this for the first week, I did lose 8 pounds. But I started looking at the packaging for the protein bars and shakes and started thinking "this has to come from a third party". After some internet searching, I found the exact source of their products. I went to the site and started shopping for the foods that I got at SOTA. What cost me roughly $250.00 a week at SOTA cost me $44.00 at this site. The site also had guidelines on creating a ketogenic diet which, LO AND BEHOLD, IS THE EXACT SAME DIET SOTA CLAIMS TO HAVE REVOLUTIONIZED. Here's the other part. The place is creepy. I mean REALLY creepy. The staff and vibe of the place seemed almost cult like. They have very high pressure tactics and throw a bunch of paperwork at you to sign. I guess they thought I wouldn't pay attention or take the time to read the documents, which I did, because there is one document that they slip in your packet that obligates you to sign up for additional weeks if you do not hit your goal after the time that you have signed up for initially. I told them "I'm not signing that" when I initially signed up, to which the consultant excused herself to talk with the manager. That should have been the red flag right there. I go back the second week for my weigh-in, and they present me with the same document to sign. Again "I told you before I'm not signing that". I was out, right then, right there. There is NOTHING State Of The Art about this product or service. I've considered opening up my own weight loss center with this concept at a fraction of the price just to expose these frauds for what they are - SCAM ARTISTS. Do yourself a favor and do some research on Ketogenic, or low carb, diets. You'll be glad you did. read more

Called to ask about the program because I do not like to cook and was told food is included and is like Astronaut food". I thought it was supposed to be State of the Art. All it is is no sugar or carbs. I was told it would cost 9900 for 9 months to lose 60 lbs she told me I had to pay 2200 down and I said I do not have that much and she asked how much I had. I had 1710 in my account so she took 1700 and told me that it would be 230 each week thereafter. I originally asked if I could go weekly and was told no. The food is okay but protein bars and breakfast and snacks. You cook your own dinner and provide your protein. I called to see if I could get a partial refund. Nope. No refunds sorry. She never mentioned that and I did not get a copy of anything stating that either. She said you can continue to come for your six weeks you paid for. No thanks. Really a scam. Did the diet and yes I agree with Steve J. - pretty much a Keto Diet same as Medifast or whatever they call themselves these days. When I completed my 3 months I had lost about 30 pounds but was not at what they considered my "ideal weight". So instead of allowing me to go on a maintenance diet they wanted more money. Don't be scammed by SOTA! I'm on day 12 of this program, and while successful at weight loss so far, this is absolutely a program that can and should be done on your own. A word of caution about their supplements: if you like whole foods with no additives (sugars, sugar substitutes, partially hydrogenated oils, preservatives and dyes), you should NOT do this program. The additives themselves will keep you locked out of Ketosis - the very basis of the weight loss program. After immediately stopping using their supplements, I emerged from the keto flu and feel 100% better. The supplements are toxic. There are a lot of KETO diet options out there - don't get bilked by choosing SOTA. The staff, while friendly, are nothing but high pressure sales people. You get one type of advice one week, and the next week when you meet with another associate, you get the exact opposite of what was laid out for you the previous week. You are not assigned the same advisor/associate to meet with each week. I was advised to take a certain brand of electrolytes to combat the "keto flu"- but was advised not to take another brand that I preferred, which had more electrolytes and less unnecessary additives. When I asked why not to the brand I preferred, I was told it contained stevia extract, an undesirable sugar alcohol (which is true). Well, guess what? The brand they recommend contains the same exact stevia extract as the one I preferred. The staff is not educated in nutrition - they are only taught what SOTA wants them to tell clients and push products that may or may not be beneficial to your health. This is an extremely expensive program, with required supplements that are pushed on participants - supplements that contain harmful ingredients and dyes - and block the very goal of a keto plan - entering in and staying in ketosis. Keep your money, find a few GOOD books on the Keto diet, and put your mind to it for better, more healthy success. read more

My initial experience was satisfactory. I lost 15 lbs ( my goal) and began maintenance - which when you join SOTA, they tell you that you can come back forever as a check -in. Today was my second monthly appointment and I was told the changed! The doctor reviewed my record and felt I didnot "collapse enough abdominal fat" - although I feel fabulous and am very happy with my results. I had two options - I could be dismissed from the program or I could sign up for additional weeks ($250.00/week) - had already spent 3500.00. If they wanted to change the rules - could have done it with new clients and not with those who had been told something else. read more
