This is still my go-to cafe in Fridhemsplan but my opinion of it has changed a bit. Sandwiches are…read moregenerally good, the Hallancheesecake is basically the staple of my visit though it is certainly not gourmet, and the WiFi works well. The interior is warm and cozy in the winter, and despite the busy and fairly loud seating along Sankt Eriksgatan, it's a good spot to sit outside, considering. The Chai Tea Latte is massive but varies widely on taste (remember it fondly in the Winter, not so much in the Summer), and what's up with the 5kr refills for coffee? Jury is in on the Muffins: not worth it though they look like they will be. Overall, I still have a lot of love for this place and recommend it for the area. It's a good spot to work, a good spot for a conversation and it's open late.

The place is rather tacky with its fake brick walls, torch holder and gold framed mirror. I'm told…read moreit's Stockholms oldest café but I can't say they treat the locale with much dignity. Great address, friendly staff behind the counter. Prices are as in all other cafés in the city - around 80 SEK for a salad, around 40 SEK for any slice of pie or cake. But what do you get? The salad is a bit dry (they offer extra vinegrette in a bottle at the counter) and the chocolate cake is too (but vinegrette probably won't help that). Cream for your hot chocolate or chocolate cake comes from a can. Not very luxurious but the public has gotten used to it so I guess we have to settle for it. The hours are very generous (for being Stockholm) - they're even open till 10 pm on Sundays. However, well before 9:40 pm they picked everything off our table, shut down the music, turned up the lights and started just standing around to indicate that they really wanted us out of there. Minutes later they started moving tables and cleaning the floor. I'm of the opinion that if a place claims to be open until 10 pm, guest should be able to be there and feel welcome until 10 pm. If they want to clean out the place and go home by 10, they should say they're open for guests until 9:30. Now we left rather bummed out. If nothing else is open (which unfortunately is likely), I'd come back here.

The pain au chocolat was also excellent: crisp layers with just the right amount of dark chocolate. Coffee was smooth and rich, and refills on brewed coffee are free. The café has a relaxed vibe, and even though it was busy, the service was quick and friendly. Prices are a bit high, but worth it for the quality. Recommend if you're looking for a great coffee and pastry spot, convenient to city center. Outdoor seating if you're lucky enough to land a spot. If not, there's a nice park across the way, if you order take away.

Although the passageway where the interior seating is situated seemed awkward it actually worked out well. Service, despite a crowd, was fairly quick, I would rate the coffee an A or 9/10 on the scale of strength, low acidity/smoothness. It is espresso based and made to exact order. There are serval options for milk (whole, oat, 1/2 and 1/2, etc). The major complaint would be that there is no easy place to throw away your rubbish, nor is there a place that is clearly evident to bust your dishes, which is much needed given that this is a super busy place.. The staff is too busy to bus tables regularly, which backs up the availability of seating . This is the major reason for a one star deduction.. TIP: You can buy beans or ground coffee for home brewing.

I was really looking forward to trying some Swedish Pancakes while I was in Sweden. Unfortunately,…read moreI couldn't find any restaurants on Yelp that said they served Swedish pancakes in Stockholm. The only restaurants that came up served American style pancakes. So, when we got up and were ready to go, we headed to a cafe that came highly recommended. When we got there, 45 minutes after it was supposed to open, it was unfortunately closed. So, we ended up walking around the city, hoping to find another option for a good breakfast. We didn't find anything on our walk, so we jumped on a bus and looked around. We went by a place that looked like it had potential, so we stopped the bus and got off. We walked into Thelins Konditori and saw an amazing assortment of baked goods and sweets! I looked up on the menu board and was extremely excited to see Pannkaka! I ordered up a glass of hot chocolate and some pannkakor. Thelins is a very nice Konditori with a good atmosphere. It is clean and the employees are helpful. The restrooms are extremely dimly lit. The woman behind the counter gave us some small glasses of hot chocolate with whipped cream. The chocolate definitely was not hot... lukewarm at best. The whipped cream was great and the flavor was really good too. I would rank Thelins 9th place in my hot chocolate tour of Europe. The pancakes were excellent! There were 3 pancakes folded up in triangles and served with a cup of whipped cream and a cup of strawberries to top them off. The flavor and texture of the pancakes were great and I was very happy to finally have some Swedish pancakes. Thelins is extremely expensive, but that is pretty much a common theme in all of the restaurants and cafes in Stockholm.
