I have been here a few times and have been happy with each visit. I have had red chicken curry and pad thai, ordered Hot both times, and there was definite kick to them. The red chicken curry is my favorite dish. It is well balanced and the rice that comes with it is cooked well. There is enough spice to let you know you have tastebuds and get your nose running a bit, but not so much that you need an ice pack on your lips for half an hour after (if you order hot... ordering Thai Hot red curry here is only advisable for the spice lover). Their water glasses are a little bit small, but the refills come fast and the service has always been good. read more

Very clean, great service. Ordered the Thai hot and sour soup, good but a little too vinegar for my taste. Is never had that soup before so I can't compare it to anything. Driving home from Orlando one night and looking for thai food. Did a quick yelp search and almost headed east on Colonial Drive to try out another place. SO GLAD that we changed our minds and headed west instead! Stumbled upon Soong Thai and we instantly fell in love with the charming décor and candle-lit tables. Our server, Ghoong (Sp?) was absolutely wonderful. She was so kind and sweet throughout our visit. Husband had the Pad Thai and I ordered the Red Curry with chicken. We arrived before 6 PM and received the complimentary salad with peanut sauce (yum) and the outstanding chicken & rice soup (wow!). Entrees were served on unique plates (see pics from other yelpers). Presentation was beautiful and elegant with a fresh orchid and carved carrot pieces. The Pad Thai was not a large portion but the flavor was delicious. The Red Curry was fabulous! Nice and spicy once I added the pickled jalapeno and thai chili peppers. We truly enjoyed the experience and absolutely WILL return. Happy to note there is no MSG used in their food. read more

Yelpers, you let me down. Normally I would chalk this up to regional flavors, but I don't believe old grease is a Floridian thing. We started out with the appetizer sampler for two. It all had one flavor. Burnt/old grease. If they had tasted good, it would have been a great bang for your buck since you get a little bit of everything. I could not get over that flavor. I ordered the cashew chicken, my husband ordered the pad see ew. Both lacked legitimate flavor but still had the overwhelming burnt flavor. I generally like most things, but I left here very disappointed. Clean your pans, and change your grease. It makes an enormous difference. read more

Crispy duck dinner -- delish. The menu cites a few duck dishes -- I may have to try them all. It's not that I'm obsessed with duck, it's just you can't find Asian duck dishes anywhere outside of NYC's Chinatown. Love the ambience -- the restaurant is tiny, dark and very cozy/intimate. I love this place!! Nice and quiet! The food is always good and I have no complaints about the service. The drinks came so fast I was shocked!! It was like it was a little magic trick! Appetizers soon after and then about 15 mins later we got the entree. I do remember waiting a while for the entree when we hadn't ordered the appetizers a while ago. I almost always get the chicken red curry cause I love it. And the portions are huge, there'll always be left overs. I tend to get medium spicy cause' hot' can get too spicy and mild is a little too sweet. I definitely recommend!! read more

While the location is a bit remote for Thai enthusiasts, Soong Thai is certainly one of the best hidden gems in Central Florida. The interior is beautifully decorated with authentic embellishments. Though there are only twelve tables, it's usually not overcrowded to the point where patrons have to wait very long. The Tom Kha Gai is spiced just right and all the traditional Thai dishes have a complex sweetness that accentuates the spiciness. Pad Thai and Pad See Ew are refreshing and the curries have just the right amount of thickness to maximize the flavor of the meat. Panang Duck is a definite winner. read more

After seeing the star ratings, we decided to place and order to go. I don't know if we would have picked the place based on the interior decor, I found it to be a little dark and underwhelming but there were many patrons enjoying the good Thai offerings. I had the chicken pad see ew. Generous portion and it was so flavorful. I loved the added touch of an edible little flower. My husband had green curry with pork and finished the entire meal, which rarely happens, so this is a testament to the deliciousness of his entrée. We also ordered a sampler for 2 which had a selection of 5 little bites including crab Rangoon and egg rolls. I will definitely be adding Soong Thai to my rolodex of take-out. read more

My wife and I had been here about a year ago and thought it was very good. Everything was well seasoned and portions of seafood pad Thai and curried seafood were generous. We decided to return on a Friday night about a month ago and were convinced the restaurant was under new ownership or management. We ordered the same dishes and were surprised at the measly portions. Each of us got two small shrimp and three pieces of microscopic calamari. No other seafood were in the dishes. My wife complained to the wait person and she brought her one more shrimp and two pieces of calamari. The sauces didn't taste fresh. Also, the Pad Thai noodle portions were small. All in all a bad experience and we won't be coming back. I gave it one star because there was no way to give it 1/2. read more

We hadn't been to Soong Thai for a while but went there because we had a movie to catch at West Oaks Mall. All 4 chicken dishes we ordered had chicken that tasted like rubber. The Tom Kha gai, a coconut soup with chicken and vegetables, was soooo good! That was my favorite part of the meal. I also got the house special fried rice which was also delicious. The rice with the soup was even better. My husband and I got the sampler platter appetizer. All the selections were good. He ordered drunken noodles and massaman curry and he loved both! Went with the family here last week.. I've been here a couple of times... family is under the impression that it is under new management.. since I just moved back I can't really say... We were a group of 6 that came in an hour before they closed. We ordered a little bit of everything, from Crab Rangoon, Spring rolls, Snow Peas noodles, Seafood Pad Thai, Beef with Red Curry, Shrimp with Black Pepper Sauce, and a duck dish have no recollection of the name since my father ordered it and I am not a fan of duck... I ordered the noodles with Snow Peas which is their version of Pad Kee Moa.. I asked for it hot and it wasn't.. It was hot for the rest of my family but for me eh not so much... The Crab Rangoon was really good too.. crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and tasty! I was pretty full so I didn't try any of the other dishes but everyone seemed happy... They were very attentive and friendly but it did take awhile for the food to come out... From what I understand for Orlando this is some of the best Thai... Now don't get me wrong it was good and I would eat there again just wasn't NYC good..... This is a bit unsettling since I am a Thai Aficionado and I am hoping and praying Orlando has some secret hidden gems for some Thai food... and if it's out there I will find it.... read more

Stopped by Soong Thai for lunch on Friday. What great lunch specials! We enjoyed an order of Ginger Chicken and Chicken Pad Thai. Both were less than $9 and included the soup of the day (a delicious Chicken and Rice Soup) and Eggrolls. The Pad Thai was ordered with medium spice and they delivered perfectly on the request. Not too much or too little. The Ginger Chicken came with a great variety of vegetables including water chestnuts for a perfect crunchy element. Both entrees were garnished with a lovely purple orchid. A nice touch for just a lunch special! The service was prompt and the food came out quickly, perfect for a work-day lunch date. You could easily make it in and out under 45 minutes. Though I went with the pad thai for my first visit, there were many entrees that sounded just delicious. I can't wait to go back and try their peanut sauce! Only draw back (for my dining partner) was that there are no refills on sodas at $1.50 a piece, but they do state that clearly on the menu. If you're a fan of Thai, try Soong Thai asap. Takeout service is excellent and quick, and I've never had a problem communicating with the staff on the phone. Service in the restaurant is superb. A friend and I have a standing dinner date here monthly, and the wait staff have learned what we like, which I find impressive considering how many people eat here. My litmus test for Thai restaurants is always their curry and their pad Thai, and Soong Thai aces both dishes. The curry is exceptional and presented beautifully. Last night we ordered takeout ; all 3 dishes hot ( extra hot is the hottest ). To my surprise , my husbands Shrimp Fried Rice was him to spicy, he couldn't eat, so to be careful with the heat. My Seafood Pad Thai had way to much peanuts for my taste ( peanut overload ), wasn't tasting fresh or anything to enjoy, the side of sprouts calmed down the heat of spice. The red curry with squid not impressive, nobody ate it. My husband and I have been to the restaurant and done take out multiple times. The service is good and the food is consistently tasty. We enjoy the Pad Thai and many of the curries are so yummy. I like that they decorate the plates with orchids. I discovered this place a couple of years ago and upon my first experience this not only became my favorite Tai restaurant but my favorite restaurant. I've celebrated birthdays here, had several dates here, and have given tons of referrals. Great food and intimate ambiance. I don't eat there as much any more because truthfully, when it comes to pad Tai and fried rice there are some equally good places where you get more for you buck. But, I don't mind going there as a treat, and when I do go I get one of their fish dishes, which can put you out of a couple of Hamilitons since it's priced at market price, but it's so good. I recommend this place if you feel okay with spending a little extra money then your average store front Asian restaurant. read more
