This place had so much potential but fell short. The service was nice but they had credit card system issues and couldn't charge our bill for a while. The kitchen was very slow even though we were the only diners. The pig's ear cold appetizer was very tasty. Crisp cartilage with lots of spicy savory flavor. The rou jia muo bao bun with braised meat stuffing was decent but nothing to write him about. It's a Xian staple and this place made it not quite there. The beef noodle soup had good broth but it wasn't as flavorful as we wanted. The knife cut noodles were fresh and made well. There was plenty of beef radish slices. I came here one afternoon with my work/gym buddy after the gym. It's located in the Publix plaza in Ocoee on Clarke Rd. The restaurant is hard to find and just like another review, the directions makes you think it's in a crab boil place. I think this restaurant needs to update their maps locations because I kept driving around the Publix looking for it when it was actually right there in plain sight. The food here is good but the pictures don't match what you're actually ordering. I kept thinking my meal was missing something. I really hope the restaurant updates their address and menu so they can lure more customers in and actually keep them. I'll probably give them another chance since I now know where they're located. This restaurant has been on our list of places to visit and we finally made it here today! We got there a little after 11:00 for lunch and we were able to grab a table. It is a smaller spot so if you want to be sure to have a table I recommend going when they open! My husband and I both got Mr. J's Hand-Pulled Noodles for our first visit. We both did them at a mild spice level and I did the "Normal" width noodles and my husband picked the "thin" noodles. We could see the noodles being pulled and made in the back which was so fun!! We both loved our choices and it was the perfect level of spice. The broth was so flavorful and it was such a large portion. We can't wait to come back and try a different kind of noodle! read more

We got the hand pulled noodle beef noodle soup, cumin lamb noodles, chili oil pig ear and cucumber salad. The flavors tasted very traditional and definitely hit the spot. Cons were the noodles were over cooked for both dishes and I wish the cumin lamb had a bit more flavor. It was also very greasy. The pig ear was probably the best part because the chili oil was so flavorful. Also, we asked for medium spicy under the impression spicy was very spicy, but it wasn't spicy at all. You order at the front and have your food delivered to you after which fed the casual ambiance; service was quick and pretty friendly overall which was nice. The portions were pretty large - definitely left very full. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the broth was light while not being too salty. I drove out 45 minutes to try the famous hand-pulled noodles. I was excited after seeing it on social media. The noodles are very customizable. There are about 8 different styles. They range from how thick and thin you want your noodles. I went with what the staff suggested. He was very helpful. For the price I paid I was disappointed by the lack of flavor in the dish. I asked for mine to be spicy but that was all I could taste. The noodles were great and fresh but the sauce that was paired with the dish lacked flavor. The protein that went with the dish was also plain and boiled. If you are lost, the location of the restaurant is in the Publix plaza and is under crabs and wings. Came in on a weekday and it was not busy. You order at the counter and they bring it out to you. Chose the signature Mr. J noodle soup with a choice of thick noodles after perusing my options. I dug into the steaming bowl eagerly, and found the noodles to be an amazing chewy texture. Where it fell flat was the broth--it was decent but seemed lacking in flavor compared to noodle soups I'm used to. The base spice level really isn't all that spicy. The chili oil they provide on the table did wonders to improve the flavor--it is a must-try! In the end, it's nice that a restaurant like this exists in this part of town, and perhaps the flavors have been adjusted to fit the local palate. I definitely feel that they live up to the hype in their noodles. So they let you pick what type of noodles you want to use for their noodle dishes. They made it fresh in their kitchen. This dish was the dish we ordered on the event so I was really excited to try it but it didn't meet my expectation. It taste okay. Clear broth with some sliced beef. Finally made it here to give it a try. It was worth the wait! We almost didn't find it the sign on the building says Crabs and Wings. Cute little place. Very clean. I got Thousand Year Old Egg, Mr J's Hand Pulled Noodles, and a Tea Egg. I've never had thousand year old egg before. A lot of people I've seen on social media say it's gross, but this was so good! It had some sort of sweet and salty sauce on it with herbs that were so good. The yolk is custardy and yummy! While I feel they skimped on the meat in the soup, the noodles were great! They were soft and chewy. I loved the texture. They gave me a little container of chili oil for the soup which made it even better. I've never had tea egg before either, so I got it to try. Place is a little small and about 7-8 tables. I ordered the basic hand pulled noodles with beef that is on their menu. Broth was pretty good and piping hot. Was not salty at all. You do get to pick your noodle size and I got the #3 which was a good thickness for me. The fried wings were pretty decent and the hot sauce was on the side for dipping. Okay, so this place is hard to find and the sign makes you think it's a crab place but the food delivers! Think of it like a legit hole in the wall. When you first go into the restaurant, you place your order with the serve in the front and you pay for your meal ahead of time. There is a TV screen with the different sizes and styles of noodles you can request which makes it easier to order. Then you can sit wherever you find seating availability. While the wait time was a bit long, it is completely reasonable as the noodles are made from scratch and will take time. Saturday around noon, we walked and were told to "take a menu and order at the counter." At least, that's how our visit started. So, you place your order at the counter, and someone brings the food out to your table. The food comes out based on what is ready first. So, the food started coming out, and we asked for some napkins. The server/manager pointed to the two places where napkins were available and then brought us some small paper napkins. We assume this was the server/manager because he rang us up, and it said "manager" on the receipt. So the server/manager was wearing a tank top with no indication that he was the server/manager or even affiliated with Mr J (or...was this the actual Mr J? ). His associate, who greeted us upon entering this place, seemed like she would rather be anyplace but here. She seemed like we were more of a bother and certainly not worth her time. At least she was clothed in a "Mr J" shirt. So the food started coming out willy-nilly. The food was hot. We asked the server/manager what cuisine this food would fall under. He said Chinese and that many people thought it was Pho or Ramen, "but it's not." Anyway, the food was hot, and the noodles were good enough to elevate this review to a 2 star rating. Oh yeah, while we were eating, another guy with a "Mr. J" apron came out of the back. We assumed he was the cook. Anyway, now we have the server/manager, the other female employee, and the cook all standing behind the counter, glued to their phones and chatting amongst themselves. No one asked what we thought about the food or if our drinks (water) needed refills. Oh, and the kicker...there was only 1 other person there during our entire visit, and he came in for a to go order. The sign out front still doesn't have "Mr. J's" name. Based on our visit, I'd leave the old sign up and hope the wings are better than the food and service we received. Worse experience we've had in any restaurant in years. We won't be back. Very excited about authentic chinese noodle place in Orlando! It's one of my favorite food. Lan Zhou La Mian is the specialty here. I got it with regular noodle and it tasted very good. Wish there is more beef in the soup tho. We did order a side of beef by itself and it needed some salt. The portion is a little small for the dollar amount.
