Though I was crushed when I learned that (prior dispenser/audiologist) Ashley Pritchard had apparently moved on in pursuit of greener grass, my anxiety was swiftly dissipated through the calm and friendly professionalism of Robert, the new dispenser/audiologist at HearUSA's Glendora branch. Disclosure: I've worn hearing aids since Gerald Ford was president and depend on them, especially my L aid, to help me hear/communicate. So when I inadvertently dropped my L aid this morning then noticed it had ceased to amplify ANY NOISE whatsoever, I became more alarmed than the Mayor of Hiroshima in August 1945! To their credit, the staff at HearUSA did not over promise me anything. They merely invited me to come in for an unscheduled walk in appointment and they'd evaluate the matter from there. Though I arrived with my Signia-issured warranty cards intact and had resigned myself to having to replace the L aid, Robert greeted me with his stately demeanor and took my imperiled aid to the back. He returned, five minutes later and told me he had removed a microscopic piece of dust or filament that had impeded the device's microphone, thus restoring my aid to its pristine, pre-fall condition!! If several back and hip surgeries hadn't stopped me, I would've jumped right through their roof in exultant jubiliation at this wonderful gem of good news! Major kudos to ROBERT and we wish him nothing but the best of luck in his new role as the dispenser/audiologist here. Tip: Longtime Receptionist / Support Staff JOANNA is out on maternity leave but: A.) She will be returning back to her job within the next month or so; and, B.} The young lady filling in for Joanna has been exceedingly professional and friendly in all my dealings with her.

The appointment day arrived & I was ecstatic to finally be able to hear well. Unfortunately, the receptionist had an emergency & left a message that she could only get me in before 1:30, but I teach until 3:00, so I didn't hear the message until 3:00! She left messages that "due to a personal matter I will be shutting the office down early to 2 o'clock for the time being until they tell me otherwise. So for now until possibly the middle of November which is another two or three weeks I'm gonna be shutting down the office early. As you are aware we don't have a full-time provider here yet. They did hire one already however he is going through licensing right now so he won't be starting just yet. So the good things that our staffing shortages might be easing off very soon. j. Natalie right now is here only two days a week and she's working between two different locations so she she's here only Mondays and Thursdays all day. However, she's fully booked out till the middle of November because she's the one who sees all the new patients, testing people, any adjustments, anything of the cleaning or repair." Disappointing!

Only after unsuccessfully trying to make adjustments to my old hearing aids I purchased my fifth pair of hearing aids a few weeks ago at Beltone in Covina. I avoided addressing my hearing loss throughout my prime years in high school and college, but my hesitation vanished the moment I met her. Putting my trust in her professionalism, deep integrity, and guidance instantly changed my life's course. Dr. Camacho is devoted to empowering her patients; she thoroughly explains every option without ever pressuring a specific brand or encouraging unnecessary spending. I was able to try out some of the best brands in the industry (Starkey, Phonak, GN Resound, etc..). It is incredibly rare to find a doctor who gives their absolute best to ensure you receive exactly what you need, ethically and efficiently. Even if you don't decide to buy hearing aids from her, I promise you will leave the office more informed than you walked in. In addition, her office is welcoming and it is easy to book an appointment by phone or by website. Choosing quality hearing aids is a significant investment, and Dr. Camacho makes this crucial decision-making process supported and painless.

I went to Costco primarily because of convenience and low cost as I was paying out-of-pocket. Just like all technology products, the hearing aids would last about four or five years. My second pair, also from Costco, were in-the-ear style as well. Eventually, as my hearing deteriorated further, I graduated to the behind-the-ear technology that is popular today. About two years ago, my insurance provider offered some coverage for hearing aids, but the coverage did not include Costco devices. Instead, I was directed to Dr. Hear. The insurance would pay $750 towards the purchase of hearing aids from Dr. Hear. The hearing aids from Widex that Dr. Hear offered were list priced at over $6000. This was about three times or more what I had been paying at Costco. But Dr. Hear discounted the price, giving me the insurance company contracted price, with the $750 discount, totaling $3200. This was still almost twice as much as Costco, but I thought since my insurance company was promoting this offer, that these must be much better devices. I received the Widex hearing aids from Dr. Hear, but had trouble with them right from the start. First of all, all control of the hearing aids was done on my phone - there was a single button on the device that would turn the volume up but not down. Secondly, I had constant echoing that was unbearable. After two weeks, I returned to Dr. Hear with my complaints, hoping that they could make some improvements. They played with the adjustments on the computer, but frankly, there was no improvement. I was convinced at this point, because the cost of these hearing aids was so high, that the problems must be with my ears, and not with the devices. I made an appointment with my ear, nose and throat doctor to see what was wrong with my hearing. I was told that there had been no substantial changes in my ears. I went back to Dr. Hear for another adjustment session three more times. I was sold new custom made in-the-canal domes that they said would solve the echoing problem. I had to wait a month for their delivery. But there was no improvement. By now, my return privileges on the hearing aids had expired so I was stuck with these poor performing devices. It's a year and a half later now, and I gave up trying to make the Widex hearing aids work. I returned to Costco this month and purchased (out-of-pocket) a set of the latest offering Phillips hearing aids from Costco. I can't tell you how happy I am that I did! I am so sorry I wasted my time and so much money trying to work with Dr. Hear. I cannot recommend their services to anyone. Leslie Bateman Diamond Bar
