I have nothing but praise for this organization! About 9am…read moreon a Monday, our doctor informed us that we had to start my father-in-law (or Dad, as we called him) on hospice care. I had no idea who to use for this, so our doctor made the call for us. About an hour or so later, I received a call from Charmayne, and about an hour later, she was meeting with me to get everything all set up. Now, Charmayne was a blessing to us.. as was everyone from Evergreen Hospice. Charmayne was very professional in handling all of the paperwork, easing our fears, joking with us at the right times to help relieve some stress and anxiety that we had stored up. I can not think of a better person to have representing a hospice than Charmayne. She made you feel secure in everything that was happening.. as well as what was going to happen down the road. By 2pm the same day, medical supplies were arriving at our home for Dad's needs: the hospital bed, a walker, oxygen tanks, and more. Shortly after that, Regina (the nurse) showed up. Regina was just what we needed. Dad is Korean with very little English comprehension. Regina is Korean and she was able to fully communicate with Dad (and Mom) everything that she was going to do for him (and Mom) to make everything as comfortable as possible for the both of them. Regina is a very sweet lady who really knows her stuff. She's great dealing with patients and has great patience dealing with the family's questions and concerns. Regina stayed with us for about two hours to make sure everything was taken care of (vitals, information for everyone, prescriptions ordered.. everything!). Around 8pm, Dennis arrived to check on Dad. Dennis was a sweetheart. Very kind and compassionate and he was wonderful with Dad and the family. Regina visited again on Tuesday as did Dennis. At no time did I feel that they were rushing through the visit to get to another patient. As far as I'm concerned, they treated Dad as if he was the most important person to them, as he was to us. Wednesday came... and we knew Dad's time was running out. regina was there for a few hours, talking with Dad.. talking with the family... doing everything she could to make everyone feel better. Later that night, Dennis was there for dad's final hour. Both Dennis and Regina stayed in contact with the doctor overseeing Dad's care, and this was very important towards the end of Dad's life. After Dad passed, Dennis didn't just pack-up his bag and say "See ya!" He stayed to talk with the family, did the final paperwork, contacted the mortuary (that we had already designated), prepped Dad's body for them, spent more time talking with the family.. and he didn't leave until almost 90 minutes after Dad's passing. During Dad's care, Evergreen made sure that all of Dad's needs were being met: we had great nurses, immediate delivery of medical equipment and prescriptions, they arranged for a representative from Social Services to visit to see what they could do to help. They were there at the beginning and they were there at the end. I received a few follow-up calls from everyone that I encountered from Evergreen. All of them were very sweet and compassionate. At no time (still almost a month later) have I received any calls from them (or any affiliated organization) to donate to a church, donate to them.. or received any other kind of intrusive or insensitive requestor comment from them. Evergreen is a Five Star business that treats your family like it's their family. And Charmayne... Thank You for EVERYTHING you did for us!

My mom was bedridden for a while, and I spoke to June Geronaga, whom I have known for a long time…read more She recommended that I put my mom in Evergreen hospice care, and I did. She helped me get my mom in. Evergreen made my mom comfortable and pain-free; her RN Vince was very caring and helped my mom alleviate her pain. RN Ronel was very sweet and kind; he gave my mom a sponge bath on the last day of her passing. I met Dr. Frilling he was very kind and compassionate. For a short time, they made my mom comfortable, and we, her family, were very happy for their service. Thank you so much, and I highly recommend Evergreen to all families who need help for their loved ones with terminal illnesses.

If I could give this company zero stars I would. Steer clear…read moreof them. My mom is in her final days of stage 4 neck and soft palate cancer. She is in a lot of pain so I just wanted her out of pain no matter what medication she needed just get her comfortable. I had one director come in to assess her, then assigned a nurse and lvn once a week to take her vitals and monitor her care. From day one over a month ago my mom doesn't sleep maybe more than 30 minutes at a time two or three times a day because she is only 66 and very anxious about dying and leaving me and my sister behind which is understandable. When I had a crisis and she was in excruciating pain I would call them and they would just keep telling me to up her morphine until I had to actually give it to her every hour. When I asked for help in giving her something that would help her pain for longer than an hour so we could both get some sleep they gave her ambien which didn't do anything for her pain just made her drowsy. My mom already had a high tolerance against hydrocodone because she had been taking it over a year since her first surgery, so that was just like giving her a shot of tequila. When I started asking for help because I had no sleep in days they said find a caregiver to help and it's about 20.00 an hour. I did not want to place my mom's medication of morphine, hydrocodine,Ambien, Xanax, and fentanyl patch in the hands of a non licensed stranger they said well that's why you are off of work on fmla to care for your mom we can't give her 24 hr care because she is still up walking around! The nurse Valerie actually argued with me for an hour when I told her my mom needs me to be there 24/7 because if she misses a dose she ends up in lots of pain and then really can't think straight to give her self proper meds and she fell twice. She was only authorizing 2 days a week for 3 hours when I asked them to sign my fmla paperwork, she only met my mom once on the very first couple of days I put her in hospice and never offered to stay for another day to see the care she needed. Dr came to see her no hello ,no introduction. Wanted to know why i was giving her a lot of morphine and they were only bringing me tiny bottles every two days so they put her on hydro morphone because he said the rose pharmacy was complaining they were running out of morphine!! Are you kidding me! I even had to put on a new higher dose 100mcg fentanyl patch when it came on my own and start giving her this other medication I knew nothing about which got my mom sick. I finally found real help that came down right away assessed my mom put her on a new medication routine with morphine that was working and gave me 24 hr nurses to help to monitor her for 4 days to make sure it was working and she was comfortable and told me to get some sleep. I have fired this company and all they cared about was picking up their paperwork and doing a medicine count. They also tried to get my mom to sign a revocation form taking her off of hospice care when all i was doing was transferring her not discontinuing her. They did not pick up their bed and supplies the same day as they said they would now my mom has two hospital beds in her small living room! I am so thankful for Brookdale hospice my mom isn't in pain and I actually got help in learning how to give her all these meds at the best times and intervals when I was just guessing before and afraid I was going to make her sick or overdose her. Covenant hospice you need to get consulting from Brookdale to see what real hospice care looks like!

Forever Grateful to Healing Care Hospice for the Care They Gave My Dad…read more I don't even know where to begin in expressing the depth of my gratitude for Healing Care Hospice and their incredible team. When my dad's health began to decline and we were told it was time for hospice, my family was heartbroken and scared. We didn't know what to expect, and we wanted to make sure he would be surrounded by love, comfort, and dignity. From the very first moment Healing Care Hospice stepped in, we felt an enormous sense of peace. The nurses who cared for my dad were absolute angels. They treated him like he was their own family -- always gentle, patient, and respectful. They explained everything to us with compassion and honesty, making sure we understood what was happening every step of the way. It never felt rushed or routine; it felt deeply personal. Even during the hardest moments, their calm presence and kindness made such a difference. The aides and caregivers were just as amazing. They made sure my dad was clean, comfortable, and pain-free. They noticed the little things -- fixing his blanket, massaging his hands, talking softly to him when he couldn't respond -- small gestures that spoke volumes about their compassion. The social worker and chaplain also brought so much comfort, not just to my dad but to our entire family. They gave us emotional support, listened when we needed to talk, and helped us process everything we were feeling. It meant the world to have people who didn't just focus on medical care but truly cared for the human and spiritual side of what we were going through. One thing that stood out was the way the team communicated. They were always available -- day or night -- and made sure we never felt alone. Whether it was a question about medication, a sudden change in my dad's condition, or just needing reassurance, someone was always there to help with warmth and patience. When my dad passed, the hospice team was with us, guiding us gently through those final moments with compassion and respect. They handled everything with such grace, giving us space to say goodbye in peace. Even after, they checked in on us to see how we were doing, which meant so much. I can honestly say Healing Care Hospice helped my dad transition with comfort and dignity, and helped our family find peace in an incredibly painful time. They weren't just caregivers -- they became part of our family during those last weeks. To everyone at Healing Care Hospice: thank you from the bottom of my heart. You made an unbearable time a little easier, and you gave my dad the care and love he deserved. We will never forget what you did for us. If anyone reading this is searching for hospice care for a loved one, I can say with complete confidence that Healing Care Hospice is the kind of team you want by your side. They bring heart, compassion, and genuine humanity to every moment.

The staff is very attentive and kind, and safety there is of utmost importance. This gave me such peace of mind because my mom had previously fallen at another facility. It is a family owned business and the staff there is very responsive and communicative with the families. When my Mom first moved there I was given a follow up call the next day to give me an update as to how she was adjusting. I really did appreciate that extra attention. And when I visited she was always engaged in an activity or the staff was chatting with her. They always filled me in on her day. Sometimes she needed to be redirected because of her dementia, and they handled it beautifully with dignity and a great attitude helping her to calm down and feel comfortable. Elena manages the place and she is on top of everything and is on point. It is obvious that she cares about all her residents, and makes sure they are pampered. I would definitely highly recommend Karlton Residential for a loved one.

I realized this May would have been ten years that my Mother entered Karlton, and it shows how well they have nurtured her through Alzheimers and this last journey of her life. I, as her daughter have been supported by the owners, and staff each and everyday. I cant tell you how many times they have held my hand through my mothers Alzheimers disease. They are truly angels. I would like to mention my Uncle was here with her for 7 years prior. I would like to comment on his care as well. Simply amazing. It was comforting for me to have them together. Karlton has a very special quality about it that I certainly had not found before placing her with them. They are extremely capable, and competent to manage Alzheimers/Dementia patients, and in the most loving way. The facility is calm, immaculate, and so well run. Elena has managed many aspects of my mothers care from her medical needs to mental health care needs. Sylvia has also been such a wonderful support when I have needed to make sure all my mothers supply needs were met, as well as providing the physical care needed care each day. Thank you for your guidance and love, I could not have done it without you!

As a mid-50's aged man, I am fortunate to have shared a lifelong bond of positivity with my mom…read more She took care of me when I was young and I took care of her in her later years. Between those two bookends of life, we enjoyed and endured much. About four weeks ago, when I learned she was to be discharged from skilled nursing/rehab after trying unsuccessfully to regain the ability to walk after a successful hip revision surgery, I was at a crossroads on what to do given my mom's advancing dementia and notable weight loss. A very caring nurse practitioner making her rounds at the skilled nursing told me about the wonderful care her father in-law received from 1 Heart Hospice. From the very beginning, Cynlie and her 1 Heart Hospice Team (Nadine, Romalyn, Retchie, and several others) were on top of every detail and not only helped me find the perfect (very clean, cheerful, and operated by a teams of very caring people) board and care residence for my mom but also had a new bed, wheelchair, and other important equipment at the residence before my mom arrived. My mom passed away with my wife and me by her side on Father's Day 2024. Between the time my mom moved in till the time she passed (ie, 16 days), I must have communicated with Cynlie and her colleagues 40 or more times. Sometimes it was about my mom's medicine, and other times it was about my need for emotional support or help decision-making. Nonetheless, 1 Heart Hospice was there every single step of the way. In the last 24 hours of my mom's wife, they assigned 24 hour nursing coverage to make sure my mom was comfortable as she transitioned. They did an excellent job and so much respect to my mom and the family. I cannot express adequately my gratitude for 1 Heart Hospice. I would not hesitate for a moment to recommend 1 Heart Hospice to anyone in need of hospice care.
