Tried to get service for my mom. They guaranteed communication would be better than her previous hospice. Was told someone would call the next day. 3 days later nothing. Called back. Was told admitting nurse was out. Said they would get with me the next day. Nothing again. Called 2 days later and cancelled. They didn't seem to care. Can't recommend. After several months of steady declining health, our mother was too weak to eat anything. She was about a month away from becoming 95 years old. We contacted her doctor and an in-home hospice service named Maxcare Hospice. Within minutes, they contacted us, and we set up a meeting the next day so they could present their services in more detail. They thoroughly presented their services and examined our mom, followed with the delivery of medical devices, including an oxygen concentrator, an oxygen tank in case of power outage, a nebulizer to deliver medication through inhalation, a suction machine to clear the airway of any obstruction due to mucous, and medicine to keep our mother as comfortable as possible. They also provided us with diapers, disposable gloves, and some other basic necessities. Registered nurses, a certified nursing assistant, and a social worker stopped by to check on my mom. Every single staff member of Maxcare Hospice who talked to us either over the phone or face-to-face was polite, courteous, helpful, competent, and caring; they include Tien, Son, Kim, Emily, An, Bea, Kara, Jamie, Tracy, and Danny. Their support during one of the most difficult and saddest times of our family had made our situation much less stressful and more bearable. They strongly insisted that we should never ever hesitate to call them right away if we had any questions, important as well as trivial, any time of the day, reassuring us that there would always be someone on standby eager to advise and to help. They provided us help not only with medical issues but also with emotional issues. When my mom breathed her last a few days later, around 4:00 am, we called them, and one staff member quickly arrived to take care of the necessary paperwork. I do not like to have to leave negative reviews. But when it comes to caring for a loved one on hospice I think it's only fair to let people know. At first OC Hospice was absolutely wonderful. They worked with us to get my mother-in-law connected with CNA's and nurses who could help us during our transition from out of state back to California. Then a month or so in they tried to force their viewpoints and their treatment plans on us. Most of those plans we had already tried and they did not work for my mother-in-law. We needed help changing my mother-in-law and the nurses gave us a hard time about that. I just didn't get the warm personal attachment to my mother-in-law during the time that they helped us. read more

I (and my family) only have positive things to say about OC Hospice. We made a last minute decision to move my mom into hospice, and OC Hospice was present at our house that afternoon to do an assessment. It was a huge answer to prayer because we had not had any experience with hospice before and were going off of a recommendation from a friend. My mom had battled cancer for a year and half, and there were no more treatments available. It was only a matter of time. Though OC Hospice was only needed for four days, they were so helpful in getting us what we needed: pain medicine, a hospital bed, an oxygen tank, and 24-hour care (though they only needed to guarantee 8 hours). They went above and beyond to support us not just medically but also emotionally. They were very honest and gentle with us when it came time to let us know that my mom was entering her final hours. Angel, our RN case manager, was so kind and professional. We would recommend OC Hospice to any and everyone who is looking for support in caring for a loved one at the end of his or her life. read more

If I could leave a 0 star I would. Absolutely AWFUL experience with this company. They will promise the moon, but DON'T believe them!! Terrible, terrible communication. Little if no follow through! They claim they offer PT, but the company they contract with is terrible too!! When mom was dying, we didn't have a hospice nurse with us during the first night. The sub nurse didn't know what he was doing and administered too much morphine! There were so many things that went wrong with this company including post death bill problems. The entire staff at seasons hospice helped myself and my family to a very difficult period of our lives. There were so many phenomenal people. They were caring, kind and considerate and responsive to our needs. To name a few, Mary Alice MSW, Chaplin Cory, Lupe the hospice aide, Jessica our Nurse, and Linda the Night Nurse. I was also pleased with the hospital equipment company that they contract with. The staff at Horizon were also professional. OC Hospice was truly a blessing for my mom and me. It all started by meeting with John Gutierrez on a Saturday. He stayed for around 2.5 hours to speak with me and make me feel better regarding what OC Hospice could do for my mom. Within just an hour of signing with OC Hospice, the hospital bed and other supplies started to arrive. It was like a sign from God that I did the right thing to go with OC Hospice. We were able to get Mom the support we needed for her right away with OC Hospice. Jasper was one of the head people and nurses that I worked with. He made himself always available whenever we needed something for Mom or had any questions. He really worked with us. He understood my concerns and wanted to do everything he could for my mom and for me to feel good with her care. Erica (Mom's main nurse) was also wonderful. She helped me to understand what was going on and how I could best support my mom, with feeling most comfortable, while still trying to provide acute proactive care to ease her pain, resulting from an infection. OC Hospice allowed us the use of an IV for hydration, since Mom was struggling mightily with hydration and the resulting discomfort stemming from it. Then, some of the other nurses and/or aides, Philomena and Evelyn were also wonderful with my mom. I also want to mention that Sarah, one of the on-call nurses, was really a dream whenever I spoke to her on the phone. She was so warm and made me feel so comfortable. I would just like to say "Thank you" on behalf of my mom and me. Though Mom has passed, I can truly say it was peaceful and exactly what she would have wanted, passing in her home peacefully with me by her side. I never wanted her to pass in a hospital, where no one could visit or see her during Covid. That wasn't going to happen, and OC Hospice really made such a difficult time so much easier for my mom, but also for me as her main caretaker. God Bless OC Hospice!!! read more

I cannot express enough gratitude for OC Hospice and their team who came in to save the day for my mom's friend. When doctors told him he needed a Gtube as he no longer could eat, he refused and requested comfort measures. Apparently he was placed on hospice however, the agency that was selected, barely made any visits. He was in quite a lot of pain and it really took the patient's wife to reach out to my mom for additional support. Thankfully my mom was referred to OC Hospice and immediately they took the reins and sent out a nurse to assess and coordinate all needs to ensure his comfort. Once comfortable, the caregiver gave him a head to toe bed bath and even clipped his nails! Thanks to OC hospice, he was able to transition comfortably and peacefully. There are so many agencies that promise the moon and the stars and never deliver. OC hospice exceeded my expectations. I'd give them 10 Stars if I could!!! read more

My family and I are forever grateful to the most caring, compassionate and professional team from OC Hospice for taking such wonderful care of our dear father during his last weeks of his life. When I was told that my father had three weeks to live and would need to be on hospice I did not know who to turn to...then i remembered John Gutierrez and I immediately called him and he arranged to have someone call me so we could meet. The hospital we were at gave me a list of hospice companies and I didn't have the energy to research or call any of them. Well, to my surprise they were all calling me day and night and some even brought me lunch and a gift basket to the hospital to try and persuade me to choose their company. I had fourteen companies in total call or visit me at the hospital. This left such an awful feeling in me because I felt like my father was only a dollar sign to them..I never sensed any compassion or understanding from any of them and this was only from my initial visits or conversations with them!!! I'm so happy I went with OC Hospice. The minute I spoke with the staff there I knew I made the best decision for my father. On the day we took my dad home they were there waiting for us. They ordered all the supplies and equipment he needed and had everything delivered the same day!!! They addressed all my concerns in regards to my father's condition and made sure to let us know that they were going to be with us, the family, every step of the way and I can tell you they definitely were! Most importantly, they were very good with my father's care physically, medically, emotionally and spiritually and this is what mattered the most to me...that they made my father feel 100% comfortable. I will like to give special recognition to the entire staff but there is a "special" someone that meant a lot to all of us and especially to my father and that was his nurse"Friday"... he went above and beyond for my father and me!!! Thank you Friday from the bottom of my heart! My father passed peacefully with no pain. OC Hospice was so helpful during a difficult time. I have been POA for healthcare for a friend for about 7 years now and when the time came for Hospice we decided OC Hospice was the best choice based on positive reviews. I have to say they did not disappoint. In fact they went above and beyond especially at the end. She took "a turn for the worse" on Friday night so I was worried about staffing and help for the weekend but without skipping a beat all needs were met. My friend was kept comfortable thanks to the expertise of their nurses. If I had a question or concern they were quick to answer and help. Nurse, Nicole was especially helpful and Social worker, Ashley visited my friend weekly which she thoroughly enjoyed her visits. Although this is something that no one wants to think about but if Hospice is needed I cannot recommend OC Hospice enough. read more

I assumed Susan was the only one who were closely watching her loved one with care. Otherwise, I really wonder how could so many people gave 4 to 5 stars to this place. The nurse came without any skill, she tried to find the doctor for some medications but the doctor never respond. She said she will with us if we really need her, but she was always busy with her daughter who was 16 (she had her when she was 16). Everyday when I need her, before 4pm, she said she already on the way home. She just told me gave patient more pain medication. Horrible service! read more

I highly recommend OC Hospice. As an RN, I saw how well each member of the team explained, took the time to listen, and provided excellent care for my husband. Erica RN & Nicole LVN came regularly & thoroughly checked on the needs of my husband and made sure they were meet. Sarah Occupational therapist and Ed physical therapist came regularly to provide exercises needed for mobility. Erica was so gentle and calm and caring to make sure my husband and I understood what was happening. Andrea, the Social Worker was in communication with me to answer all my questions. I can not say enough as they did above and beyond to make sure all our needs are meet. OC Hospice made our life so much more bearable during the final week that our mother was alive. All the staff were more than professional, including the "On Call" individuals. They showed a lot of compassion and care during her final hours which allowed us, as a family, to gather by her side and concentrate on her. We would like to give a special thank you to Sarah. My grandmother was hospitalized and shortly after we were faced with the decision of choosing a hospice. OC Hospice met with us at the hospital on the same day and the nurse came to visit my grandmother that same night. After a doctors visit my father was put on Hospice with not so good expectations or survivability. At this difficult time for our family the team at OC Hospice stepped in and made the transition seamless and comforting for everyone, especially my father. We were introduced to Alex, Erika and Sandra, each played an important role in the care of my father. Alex quickly became a welcoming sight for my Mom and Dad, he connected with everyone and was extremely patient with all of us. He took the time to explain to us proper techniques to care for my father when he wasn't around which was important since he only came out twice a week. Sandra was extremely thorough in explaining to us the medication and her communication with my family was very thorough and concise. When my father passed the nurse that came to prepare the body, Sarah or Shelly, I don't recall her name, we only met once, she took great care in preparing and cleansing my dad, making it easier for us to see him there as we spent the final moments with him. Thank you Dr. Kevin Truong, ER Doctor at Garden Grove in recommending OC Hospice to our family, and we are forever grateful. John Gutierrez met up with me on a very late Sunday's night, along with Nurse Sarah. (They were committed in serving 24/7). Both were very patience and kind. RN Sarah was very attentive, making sure that I was okay. Within the hour of signing up with John, Dad was home with his family. Early next morning, hospital bed along with other medical supplies were delivered and installed at the house, by Horizon. OC Hospice Nurse also visited Dad the same day. Nurses Erica, Angel, Shelley, Alex and Philomena did a phenomenal job in taking care of dad for the four days that he was home with us. Social service representative Ashley, office clerk, Erica, and Religious Rep Kay were also kind in caring, reaching out and offering services to us. Dad passed away comfortably and peacefully at home with his family by his side. Nurse Philomena took care of dad's final hour, certifying, completing paperwork, and contacting the mortuary. It was a blessing in the sky to have OC Hospice served Dad. Above all, the services were paid for by dad's Medical and Medicare, so we didn't have to worry about covering the cost. A nurse visits weekly and they are kind, competent, and knowledgeable, and they are always up to speed on any issues. I can't begin to express how impressed I am with the level of care being given to my 91 year old mother by the staff from OC Hospice. The professionalism of each staff member from the Home Health assistant, to the RN, LVN, and Social Worker has exceeded my expectations. I want to first give credit where it is due. There are definitely some wonderful people working for OC Hospice. We had a fantastic nurse name Philomena that visited mom often to check in on her. She was always so sweet with our mom. Sarah was also incredibly kind to all of us and we are grateful that we got her for one shift during my mom's last week of life. Unfortunately, our experience with OC Hospice during that last week was terrible and very stressful. One person would show up for about 10 minutes in the morning and another about 12 hours later for the same amount of time. We were giving my mom her morphine and other medications because no one was showing up. We started to complain because there was very little care and even less communication. After complaining, they finally added some more shifts, but it appeared that some employees were very poorly trained and we even had to tell them not to send one man as he literally appeared to have no idea what he was doing. I understand that Covid has complicated hospice care, but there is no excuse for the lack of communication and care we experienced during that time, especially knowing the amount hospice charges Medicare for these services. We never heard a word from our caseworker after my mom passed away. We did receive a generic card from OC Hospice. read more
