We cannot say enough good things about Graceland Hospice. Everyone we encountered was absolutely incredible. So kind, compassionate, and willing to help with making my father's last days comfortable and dignified. Dr. Dastmalchi was so empathetic and willing to listen. He was my father's doctor when he was brought into the ER, and followed him through discharge and into hospice. He met us where we were at and made sure we felt we were in good and capable hands. Francis Guerrero was incredibly helpful and efficient in getting my father's care transferred to Graceland. She came to visit my father and our family on a Saturday afternoon, and by that evening, everything was set in motion. She took care of all of the logistics. Karl (nurse) came to do the first "tuck in visit" for my father at home within 30 minutes of being brought home by ambulance. He was so kind to my father and immediately tended to our needs. Karl was willing to jump right in and do the hard work the hospital was unwilling to do. Karl made sure we had all of the comfort medications we needed for him. The next day, Haydee Palomino (nurse) came to take over my father's care. The agency listened to our request to have a native Spanish speaker. My father felt right at home knowing he was able to express himself freely, and knowing she would be culturally competent. She was wonderfully gracious with my father and made him feel at ease right away. She ordered all of the equipment we needed and checked in that afternoon to make sure it had all arrived. She validated all the work we had done to ensure a smooth passing. On the second full day with Graceland, my father passed away peacefully. He was calm and comfortable in his final hours. We couldn't have asked for a better experience with hospice. Thank you Graceland for making a difficult time in our lives as smooth as possible. read more

my mother was dying ... she was pale her lips were blue. She was gasping for air. I assumed she was dying... it wasn't until I called and begged for help that they finally send a nurse out figured out what was wrong. Her body was starving for oxygen (she was suffering) after they gave her the oxygen she was comfortable & lived a couple more days but at least her lips weren't blue and she wasn't gasping for air. shame on them read more

As an intern who has interned at several hospices, i can say that this hospice really prepares interns for the field! I have had an extremely helpful team - Nurse Larry, Bath Aide Tanya, Ivette, Eddie and Linda who have all helped me immensely with making sure I get everything I need for grandma including new, helpful information that I was not aware of when I first started caregiving for my grandmother. My father was on hospice for almost a year and has improved enough to go back to his doctor. Debra his nurse was exceptional. Her suggestions saved his life. He also had multiple bathers that were very friendly. We were extremely happy and satisfied with everyone from Graceland. They went above and beyond of what was expected. Our family had an excellent experience with Graceland during the passing of my father. Previously, we had dealt with 2 other companies, both of which did not come close to the quality of service and responses from Graceland. Dr. Taheri is a treasure, Debra Felix, our nurse, was outstanding. All phone calls., treatments, personnel, medication, and equipment requests were met with quick attention. There was a lack of communication once the papers were signed and my mom was released from the hospital and settled back home. The RN/case manager assigned to my mom was on vacation for my mom's first two weeks on hospice. So she had a different substitute nurse for every visit. Caregivers where my mom lived were given conflicting directions on my mom's care, so they didn't know whose orders to follow. The "frequent communication" I was promised was non-existent. If I didn't contact THEM, no one was going to contact ME - and this was especially true of the people who had actual contact with my mom. I have no issue with nurses taking vacations, but I would have preferred my mom be assigned a nurse who was not on vacation at the time my mom was transitioning from hospital to home. I would have liked to know this info beforehand. A lot of the equipment, etc, that would have made my mom more comfortable had to be requested by ME - including basic items such as an air circulator mattress and a wheelchair she could actually sit in. read more

I lost my father two weeks ago as the results of prostrate cancer and the side effects. Dad lost a lot of weight and became rather unstable when walking and it looked like dementia was starting to set in. After yet another visit to the ER because of a fall, it was suggested by Dr. Sadr that I look into some form of hospice care for Dad. He recommended Graceland and they were fantastic. Dad got home and within hours, the nurses were there to check things out at my parents' house. They delivered the necessary equipment and supplies within 24 hours. My Dad's last wish was to die in his sleep and at the home he lived in for nearly fifty years. Graceland was able to accommodate this request and for this I'll be eternally grateful. His passing was peaceful which gives me some measure of peace. I'm not sure about the other reviewers but Erin has called me several times since his passing and visited once and will probably visit again once my Mom is up to it. read more

My mother was under Graceland Hospice care for a little over 2 months. Here nurse was compassionate, very good at reaching out & communicating with the family. I was disturbed that on the day of my mother's passing, that the nurse was not equipped to help direct us to next steps. Our family had to call around to have mom picked up. The Graceland social worker called over 6 hours later to she if she could help. Too late by then. We also never heard from Graceland again. No condolences, no thank you for choosing them, no exit interview of how they did & what they could do better. Disappointing. The 4 stars is for the loving, caring nurse. read more

Management, Spinning this to reflect a failure of communication by family members is a reflection on the failure that the nurse(s) failed in doing there part, which created and caused confusion and dissatisfaction. It's also unfortunate that the management is commending their staff in they did there job which wasn't the case. It's clearly obvious whoever wrote the comment has not been clued in on the entire situation. I completely disagree that a "well seasoned team" was used. If that was the case I wouldn't be wasting my time in writing a negative Yelp review. Also, to make it perfectly clear! I didn't request to be financially compensated by the shear unprofessional neglect we received by a few of you RN staff. What I stated, if we did pay for the service. I would definitely request a credit. Further, the case manager stated that the Bereavement counselor was going to call us at a certain time and it didn't happen. PERIOD! More so, your creating more of a problem, because what your stating about "10 Days to allow family time to absorb the change"...Well that was never mentioned by your case manager. Again, more lack of communication on the "well seasoned team" that was sent. As I told your director, an apology doesn't work in this case. We had a terrible experience at a critical time that cannot be reset and tried over. Your business is a one-way ticket and we got "coach" seats vs "first class" The comment(s) made from management is very telling to be very careful when selecting a Hospice Care Team read more

I am writing this Graceland review for my neighbor Emily, her husband Ed of 72 years passed away recently. This company has been outstanding in everything from their initial interview to Ed's last day with us. The staff communicated, updated and provided everything the family needed. In the short time while they were providing services, every request, question or concern was addressed, quickly and professionally. Even the staff at the care facility where Ed was staying has commented on the quality and the compassion of all the Graceland personnel they interacted with. Emily would especially like to thank Nurse Laurie who was so willing to take time to explain everything, she was very helpful. My mother was admitted to Graceland Hospice on September 17, 2022. The representative that visited my mother and family at the Hospital was very convincing and appeared informed, great sales person. However what was promised was not delivered at all. It's been a nightmare, with their lack of communication with each other and us, lack of follow through, empty promises, lies, and so very unprofessional. My mother was promised the basic supplies such as wipes, diapers, sprays, pads etc., it took them over two weeks after multiple requests with anyone who would listen items were finally delivered on the 3rd week. She was put on a 3/3 Plan which means 3 weekly nurse visits and 3 weekly bath aide visits, She had her 1st bed bath after nearly 3 weeks. Our experience had been awful, and so very disappointing, these are just the less serious complaints. My mother has pulmonary disease and requires 24/7 Oxygen with a concentrator for use of bi-pap, she is a CO2 retainer, its been over a month today is October 4th and still her supplies are less then par, she has hoses from two different machines, hoses are connected and sealed with duck tape and crazy glue, and after multiple requests they still have not provided adequate supplies. Graceland is contracted with only one Medical Equipment Vendor named Health Essentials who does not properly train their technicians and sends delivery drivers to deliver life saving equipment and expect them to also set up the machinery and program the equipment, they do not value the life of their patients with this lack of professionalism, understanding and compassion, I am so frustrated that this review is not coming out like I would like but if anyone would like to discuss my experience in detail i am happy to. I wish we can switch to a more experience company who are more responsive and better equipped to remedy life saving and or life prolonging situations. They are also under staffed. The current staff have titles and but do not know their roles or responsibilities. Do not use Graceland for your Loved one. read more

My dad was with Graceland Hospice after his most recent trip to icu with copd and heart failure. They were compassionate on the phone and during visits to his home. The nurses and coordinators lack professionalism in coordinating a multidisciplinary care team. The social workers did nothing to help inform of IHSS hours, meals on wheels, or resources for support, the nurses came whenever they felt like it and say we cancelled the visits when we would call to find out what happened, when the nurses did come they would check in for 5-10mins. max and spend 20 mins. outside in front of our home in their car, the bath aids were constantly being changed/rough, and not available for consistent care, we had to constantly request supplies and there was ALWAYS lack of follow through and an attitude upon request, as well as change in orders. The coordinators Sandra and Elaine were rude and highly unprofessional. They're own staff constantly kept complaining about them as well because they were so rude when asking for supplies and support. I would NEVER entrust a loved one to these providers. read more

I cannot begin to say enough about the level of care and professionalism that Graceland Hospice has to offer. As the roommate of someone who has CHF and has been on hospice for the better part of 5 years I can say that I have "some experience" with the 1 star and 5 star businesses. Graceland has been nothing short of 5 stars in my opinion and if the time should ever come that my parents or other loved ones might require hospice care then I know EXACTLY who I will be turning to. Gary, my roommate, has been over promised and under delivered by a number of other hospice companies (who shall remain nameless) over the years. So when his doctor recommended switching to Graceland of course he was hesitant. After Mimi, their social worker, came to our house explain all that they had to offer he was instantly put at ease and HOURS (not DAYS like the other companies) later he had the medical equipment and caregiver that was promised. Again, I cannot praise Graceland Hospice enough for all that they have done and continue to do for Gary! THANK YOU!!! read more

My father was diagnosed with stage 4 Liver cancer. He was suffering. These people are Angels. They will do everything they can to help your loved one live out their last days comfortably. They support the family as well and go above and beyond their job title. These people are truly compassionate and caring. During this difficult time in our lives, it is imperative to have a support group to rely on. Unfortunately this group was not that partner. Each step of the way the communication was suspended with each individual. It took too many phone calls to several different people to accomplish one task. It doesn't appear each department communicates well with each other. The frustration grew each day as more care and support was required, and not found. They helped my mother while she died, with her pain--with confidence, kindness and professionalism. (Although mostly they just dropped off the drugs and left us to take it from there) Lucky for Mom she only had to be on hospice a short time, she died within days so didn't suffer long. However; the grief counselor or whatever she was that came over the morning mom died... really disapointed and hurt me. She started out so kind! She even met me at Starbucks on my lunch break and said she would be there for me through the entire grief process. I was so grateful!!! I was broken to my soul over the loss of my Momma. I wanted to go with her! This lady, Erin, gave me hope! However she began to reschedule appointments right away. I get it, she is busy. But she never called me back to reschedule! Then she left her job for a leave of absence. She promised me she would be in touch and her text said "I will always be here for you". I never heard from her again! Now, I'll admit, I never expected this kind of support from hospice in the first place...I had no idea they did this, as far as supporting the family after the death. But once someone offers it and goes on and on about it...at a time in your life that is SO HARD, your mother has died...you feel like you are drowning in grief and desperately reaching out for any comfort or help....I just think it's a cruel time to just disappear on someone. If she wasn't able to help me...just TELL ME so I can move on and look for help!!! I think she means well, but for whatever reason cannot follow through. Now I feel even more alone in my loss. read more
