Steak Taco
Mark M.

Stopped in for pick up. Food was ready and couldn't wait to get back to my room to try. Chorizo bean mixture was delicious along with the housemade tortillas. Pastor tacos had pineapple chunks and was more sweet than spice. Steak taco was seasoned well. $6 for street tacos is the only ? Yeah they're good but not worth the $6. All in all, I'd come back on tuesdays for the $4 taco special

Easily tap found a seat for one on a busy weeknight. Food was served within five minutes of ordering. I love the layout of the restaurant. It gives it a very authentic, luxury cuisine feel. Less than five minute walk from Hyatt Regency in DT Minneapolis.

Chilaquiles Verdes Delicious. I always love chilaquiles. Tortilla chips were too soggy.

Walked by here the other day and grabbed dinner. It was a Monday after normal dinner rush so the place wasn't busy. Honestly I felt bad for the bartender because he was the only server there, so hats off to him. The restaurant itself is a modern Mexican bar. A wide variety and selection of tequila. Full bar. Overall the ambiance is a modern cantina. Clean with outdoor seating. Small restaurant but they make use of the space. Open kitchen.

Esquites - A bit too heavy on the Mayo
Deborah W.

My friend and I stopped by around 2 PM on a Wednesday afternoon. When we arrived the space was pretty empty so we were able to choose our own tables. Our server was very kind and hospitable during the whole meal. Food also came out very quickly. We ordered: -ESQUITES: Flavor was ok but it was way too heavy on the Mayo. And would have been nice if it came with some to dip into the Esquites since it was so Mayo heavy that it turned out to be more like a dip. -NACHOS WITH CHORIZO: Really tasty! Had a good portion even for two people sharing. All in all, a nice option for lunch in the area!

Came in becuase it was rated well on Yelp and near our hotel. It was taco Tuesday so certain tacos were 4$. I had 3: Shrimp tempura 5/5 unique and flavorful! Chicken Rojo 4/5 Fish taco 4/5 Atmosphere was festive and fun. Decor was neat. Apparently happy hour is 4-5pm l, for future reference. We saw someone ordering the elote corn (which comes on coconut rice and smothered in a green sauce) and that definitely peaked my interest.

I had a great time at Sonora's happy hour. Such a cute place with Spanish/tropical vibes. It was raining so I could not enjoy the patio out front, but I could see myself enjoying that another time. There is a large bar and a few different seating areas. I love the large Frida painting and beaded masks they put up. Service was also really great. Our server was really nice and helpful explaining the menu. Happy hour does end at 5, so it can be cutting it close for many but it's worth it! I got 2 $6 margs, tacos are $4 each and they are massive! Jam packed with meat and toppings. So flavorful. I also added their habanero verde salsa and that took things over the top. I can't wait to try more tacos! I tried the pastor and fried shrimp. The pastor was epic. The shrimp was a bit hard to eat. I ended up cutting up the shrimp and eating some separate. Not complaining about the amount, just stating. Also, the shrimp was an interesting texture. Almost looked like imitation crab when I looked inside a piece but it tasted good. Just haven't experienced that before. My friend got elote which was so yummy. It comes on top of coconut rice and the classic elote toppings. They also give you a knife to cut the corn off the cob if you like. My friend eats her tacos and elote like a bowl so you have options! I also got the yuca fries with chimichurri and a cilantro aioli. The texture of the yuca was perfect, crispy outside and mushy inside. They could have used some salt, but they were tasty with the sauces. I wanted extra chimi! Omg and how could I forget, the tres leches cake is DIVINE. So light, perfectly sweet and creamy with touches of cinnamon. I could eat the whole cake. Overall this place is super cute with great vibes and food. Amazing happy hour deals. Everything is food you want to eat and not just the lame apps people don't want to order anyway. Please check this place out and keep its doors open!

Chicken rojo tacos were good the fresh orange salsa and the Arbol aioli really set them apart. The Sonora margarita was delicious. I didn't like the esquites, too much mayo. The service was wonderful.

Went for happy hour on a Friday. We went kind of early so it wasn't busy at all. They do have a pretty decent happy hour menu. We ordered the street corn which comes on a bed of rice. A few chicken tinga street tacos, fries, a drink & the tres leches cake. Everything was really good especially the cake. Our waitress was really nice and the bartender checked in on us from time to time to help. The space was really nice and they have patio for the nicer months. The parking is a bit rough in this area, all metered, there's a metered lot right across the street which would probably be the safest bet.

A great spot for delicious Mexican cuisine! We stopped by for dinner while in town for a conference and were impressed by the experience. The space has a cool, industrial-modern vibe that feels upbeat and inviting. Our server was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and helpful with menu recommendations. The food itself was flavorful and plentiful. We shared the pork pastor nachos, which were super filling and delicious. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would definitely return if we're ever in the area to try more of the menu. If you're nearby, it's worth a visit!

Stopped by for happy hour and it might be the best one we have found in Minneapolis. $4 tacos and $6 margaritas! Service was great, food was great and loved the bar area. Will definitely be back

The decor is legit!

I'm glad I found this taco spot on a recent trip to Minneapolis. The group of friends I came with have some specific dietary restrictions and preferences and everyone in our group was able to find something they loved. I still drool over the thought of Sonora's fish tacos. I was impressed by the amount of fish in in the taco and it wasn't mushy like some fish tacos I've had before. The decor was cool and the restaurant was clean. I'm knocking them down slightly on the service as it was rather slow for the restaurant not being very busy. Additionally my son's food came after almost every at my table finished their food. I believe there is an unwritten but widely accepted rule in the service industry that kids food should come first if possible. As we walked out of the restaurant we noticed our server in the kitchen drinking a beer so not sure if that was why our service was slow or if his shift just ended. All in all the food outweighed the service snafus and if in the area again I'd give them another shot to deliver on the service front.

Stopped by for lunch. Beautiful space that serves elevated Mexican. Loved my fish taco, coconut rice and chips and salsa. The 2 kinds of salsa has very nice flavor. My hubby and son loved their meals. The service was amazing. We had a very personal young man serving us who was very prompt and attentive. Ambience is delightful with plants. I would come back again when I am in town.

This appears to be a seat yourself type of restaurant. Upon entering, it took a while for a hostess to come to our table and offer us drinks. It took just as long for her to return for us to get food. The food was OK, but not some thing I would necessarily return for. It's your typical Text mix type of cuisine. The fish taco was good and so was the quesadilla. Despite the menu saying, it comes with sour cream, they made me pay extra for it. some friends who got a bowl said they enjoyed it. I wouldn't recommend taking this to go or having leftovers as it did not pull up well. We also ordered a few drinks, including a strawberry margarita And a cocktail off of the menu. I would recommend a margarita with a sugar rim, but that's because I don't like salt rims. Quite a small restaurant, but I think it might be OK for groups.

Great service at the bar! I grabbed 2 tacos for a quick lunch between meetings. I want to go back to explore tequila selection.

Marsu Pizzeria + Taqueria - Slice of birria pizza

Marsu Pizzeria + Taqueria

4.5(14 reviews)

Ben and Jerry's free ice cream cone day. After hanging out for half an hour with a live DJ,…read moredancing, and ice cream, we were ready for dinner. Priorities. What are we craving? Burgers? Nah. Pizza? Two maybes - plus the asker. Mexican? Again, two maybes. We start scouring possibilities. And come across a pizzaria + taqueria. Ratings at a very respectable 4.5. Curiosities at full peak. Plus it's close. We've got a winner. No guests inside when we arrive. Parking right out front. Before we even decide on an order, however, people start coming in. Several tables fill up within 10 minutes. Amusingly, the first next group grabbed the one curved booth with my full drink bottle still sitting on the table in the middle of them. They migrated to the semi-booth across the dining area. Clearly, the two most desired seating areas in the house. We ordered birria pizza and horchata - we have a tradition of testing the horchata at every next Mexican restaurant we try. This one was mid - not horrible, not great. Just was. We'd ordered a birria pizza recently, elsewhere. It came out as... a birria taco in pizza layout. Tortilla circle, birria middle, tortilla top. Meh. To be fair, that birria pizza was the only pizza item on that menu, so it made sense that their pizza just wasn't pizza-ing. We were hopeful for a very different experience this time. Especially given the very clear emphasis on pizza on this menu. Then the pizza came. Not only did it look glorious, a bowl of birria dip sat in the middle of the pizza, completing the birria experience. And it was absolutely fantastic. The birria, the ratio, the crust - everything was delicious. Except, as my friend pointed out, the horchata. It can't all be perfect, unfortunately. The pizza was so good that when we wrapped up the leftovers, a strip of end crust went in with the rest of the pie. Speaking of, I'm definitely ready to reheat all of that now - update: Awesome reheated. :) Next visit: Chorizo pineapple jalepeño pizza!

Marsu Pizzeria: The Battle for the Last Slice…read more I walked into Marsu Pizzeria already knowing two things: 1) I was about to have the best pizza of my life. 2) I was going to order way too much food and have no regrets. The place smelled like heaven--garlic, melted cheese, fresh dough. I took a seat, ready to devour a feast. A cheerful employee--let's call him Tony (because let's be real, every good pizzeria has a Tony)--walks up with a confident smile. Tony: "You ready for the best pizza of your life?" Me: "Tony, I've been training for this moment my whole life." I ordered the house special pizza (because if a pizza place has a signature pizza, you ORDER IT), plus some garlic knots, because I respect myself. The food came out fast, hot, fresh, and smelling like a dream. As I'm one slice away from food coma territory, I see it. The last slice. The holy grail. The perfect combination of cheese, sauce, and crispy crust, staring at me like it knows it's about to be devoured. Just as I'm reaching for it, Tony slides by the table, nodding at my plate. Tony: "You gonna finish that?" Me: "...I was planning on it, Tony." Tony: "You sure? I mean, we could put it up for auction. Bidding starts at one garlic knot." Me: "Not happening." Tony: "Alright, but just know... if you don't eat it in the next 30 seconds, I legally get to claim it." Now, I don't know what kind of pizzeria law Tony is operating under, but I wasn't about to test it. I stared him dead in the eyes as I picked up the last slice and took the biggest bite possible. Tony (nodding approvingly): "Good choice. That's the kind of hunger we respect around here." Long story short, Marsu Pizzeria has the best pizza, the best vibes, and employees who will absolutely test your commitment to finishing your food. Final score? 10/10 pizza. 10/10 service. 10/10 threats on my last slice.
