My mother was not clean probably so I put her in the shower myself and cleaned her backside which was literally caked on. I felt very uncomfortable in that place no good vibes SO MY SISTERS AND I GOT HER OUT OF THERE. We went to Mother Love in Santa Rosa which is a real home, in the neighborhood, and Mother Love and her daughter fell in love with my MOM, When I first met them I said okay sisters this is the place, The vibes were so good in there, Suddenly my mother was herself again, Shining with the Holy Spirit, she hated Sunrise she felt scared there. If God isn't there then what was , She lit up when she stary with Mother love, Always protect your loved ones from darkness and soulless people when they are at that age. Disgusting! Sunrise Villa is NOTHING like that though! This is a fancy pants place! When you walk in you are blanketed by the amazing smells of the delicious food from the kitchen, and the dining room has chandeliers, cloth napkins, crystal glasses, and table service with huge menus for every meal! It's literally like a fancy restaurant for every meal for the residents! That cannot be beat! The entire place is immaculate, with no dirt or bad smells anywhere that we can detect, and that's a huge plus. Just the idea of assisted living usually conjures up negative things but Sunrise Villa creates a whole different experience, a wonderful one. My folks have only been there for one month, having come from a beautiful hilltop home on sonoma Mountain, and they are both already saying they are happy there. There are tons of amazing activities scheduled all day long, and their amazing two bedroom apartment gives them a living room, a bedroom, and an extra bedroom for my father's computer and office. On top of all that, Grace, who helped us through every step, is the most kind, loving, understanding, and patient person to help your family through this difficult time. She is amazing! Thank you Grace! Sunrise Villa is not cheap however, and you'll need plenty of money in order to stay there, but it's definitely worth it, and they have created an assisted living facility that takes the sting out of the painful family process that leads to the need for it. I recommend it highly, if you can afford it.

They always provided guidance and help whenever needed. The facility is clean and food delicious -the special holiday buffets are amazing. My mother truly enjoyed activities from outings to playing bridge almost every day and more. She bonded with many there through fires, Covid and Increasing age. During these challenging times I saw the staff really step up and be there for the residents. I am forever grateful for the care Cogir gave my mother and for making the last years of her life full of friendship, health and enjoyment.

Although I had…read moretoured other facilities and thought I had chosen the right place for Mom, I very much regret my decision taking her to Cogir. There are a few reasons for that regret, but here are the two main ones: 1. Out of the blue, without any notice or prior discussion, Cogir raised Mom's care cost sky high. There was no apparent reason for this hike and no explanations were given. Just an email stating the new amount was "due immediately ". 2. When seeking clarification or reasoning behind such huge cost increases, phone call after phone call, email after email were totally ignored by the management team. Day after day after day every message was disregarded. The first time this happened they ignored me for 7 days. The second time, it took them 6 days to finally respond. I found this "increase-then-ignore " style of management very stressful and extremely frustrating to deal with. Neither is a quality I seek in a management team. Especially one entrusted to my mother's care. I happily gave notice and left as soon as possible.

For the past two years, my parents have received exceptional care from all of the staff. Everyone is very kind and dedicated--the front desk staff, the caregivers, the chefs, activities director, maintenance and the office staff. The location and community are absolutely beautiful and very peaceful. The social/activity calendar is always filled with fun and different opportunities. If I could, I would like to live there (I'm 53). My parents are in the assisted living option for help with medication management, mobility, and hygiene/incontinence assistance. They develop a Care Plan dependent on the needs of the resident(s). I hope the families of some of the other residents will also take the time to post reviews.

My mother was accustomed to living independently till she was 94 and we realized she needed some back up in an easy living situation. Her apartment at Cogir is lovely, spacious, terrace, fully appointed and a terrific bathroom for her increasing safety needs. The facility has the feel of a boutique hotel with an relaxing inner courtyard, a dining room with the feel of a cruise ship, library with a fireplace my mother enjoys reading and a gathering spot for happy hours and live music. The food is very good, prepared with care and flair, emphasis on freshness and lots of choice. Way above institutional fare, takes advantage of Sonoma high food standards while catering to many dietary preferences. The staff deserves extra cheers for adaptation to the pandemic, keeping everyone ok, delivering meals and gradually re-introducing activities as safety allowed. Early adoption to safety protocol has been very effective. There has not been a single case of Covid and many people were able to see their families in the courtyard, avoiding some of the extra restrictions. The Cogir atmosphere is positive, the staff works very hard to decorate for every possible holiday and a big banner hangs on the front door that says "Heroes Work Here" and it is true. Most important my mother is happy, feels the pleasure of her own apartment and enjoys the community activities. Her needs have increased and the staff is involved and responsive. Our only criticism is that someone complained about the lovely person on housekeeping staff who was singing as she worked and she was told to stop. Even though my mother is almost deaf she misses the music, and so does her family. It was a joy to hear in the halls.

Ruby made it a point to develop a warm and joyful rapport with her. My mother said that out of all the places I could've chosen, this was the one. Ruby and the staff addressed her needs from the time she entered and was able to transfer from her wheelchair until she was totally bed-bound. The atmosphere was homey with smells of cooking and cheerful attitudes of the caregivers. Ruby or Chris, her husband, would promptly answer all my questions, either in person or by text or email, even when they were out of town. They and the staff were very conscientious about procedures and medication administration. They communicated well with physicians, home health nurses, therapists, and clergy. I felt that my precious mother was in good hands and never worried about her care. There is a special place in my heart for all they did for my mother and I will be forever grateful. The very moment that I reached out to SHRC I was met with compassionate support and kind guidance from Pat Valone. Pat was patient with my father and myself and she eased what could have been a very challenging chapter in my father and my lives. Pat graciously toured us around SHRC and invited us to lunch, we were introduced to everyone including Mark Nillson. I am very much an observer of humans and their interactions and my astute understanding of people was very much aware that all the folks who my father and I met were real and kind and transparent and there to help others. I honestly fell a little in love with Pat the moment that I met her. Once my father moved in there were some growing pains that he had to learn to grow through and the entire community of Sonoma Hills has been with him at every juncture when he really needed the extra support. I do live close, I am in SF, however I'm not able to have my own eyes and ears on my father but my concerns about his aging process have been so incredibly softened with the support of Pat and the entire staff and community at SHRC. For me and for my father SHRC has been truly nothing shy of a God Send. So incredibly grateful for everyone and the love they share with my father and myself.
