I've been going here since sometime last year. The service started out really good. Tammy was my preferred nail tech,until one day she had a really nasty attitude because I asked for another coat of polish. I never requested her again and from then on she was very nasty. On one occasion while I was getting serviced next to her station I requested that my shape to be oval ,she then started speaking in their language to my nail tech and in some English suggesting that it was a fee for shaping. The nail tech did not charge me extra. After that incident I continued to go and just used another nail tech. Today I went and it was horrible. I signed in per usual and proceeded to the Polish area to pick my color,when I was stopped and told to choose my color from a set of display nails. The tech that serviced me was the manager I presume because he's the one I see always handling the issue that may arise with a customer. The guy was extremely rough almost yanking my hands to him when my arms were already extended to the maximum. The color I choose from the display was not the same polish he grabbed. He knew it wasn't the correct color and painted one nail and just sat there like he was waiting for me to say that it was the wrong color. So now he wants me to go pick a color ( which is what a customer should be able to do in the first place). Mind you another customer had come in after me and went right to the Polish area to choose her color but no one stopped her nor told her to pick from those display nails. Now here was my biggest issue Today. He then asked me if I wanted to pay before he put the new polish on. I gave him my card that I've always used there and he proceeds to tell me that they don't take American express. I argue that this is untrue because I've always used this exact card with no problem there. He goes on to say not in 3 years have they taken American express . I then tell him I can prove he's flat out lieing and show my credit card records which would clearly show that I've used this card there almost every three weeks. He then says I will try your card and see if it works. Then he comes back over and say American express charges then $2-3 dollars for every transaction so next time they will charge me extra. After my polish was on he told me to go over to the dryer section but he did not move my purse to the area with me he left my purse in the chair and went to the back and never came out. Very unprofessional and rude. Today was the last time I will spend my money here. The service quality is very inconsistent and I will tell everyone I know not to go here. read more

First time there, and I had Tammy. Truthfully, I have never had a better manicure. Looking at my nails, I am wondering why they have never looked this good before? She took time and care, so I appreciated that. If you want a great manicure, ask for Tammy. read more

Dear Tammy, I would like to thank you for wasting my entire morning. I got to Sonny's at 9:45. You open the doors at 9:30. You were already working on someone, so I waited. I watched that women finish and leave. I was pretty sure I was next, but since you don't take appointments, I could only go by the fact that everyone else in the ace came in after me. After more than an hour, I finally got some water in mypedi tub. You disappeared AGAIN, and I finally gave up waiting at 11:20. When I walked to the front, you were working on someone else! While I was sitting there like an idiot for 90 minutes. I'm tired of being ignored in your shop while watching you wait on other people without even acknowledgement of the fact that I'm waiting. You're good, but nobody is that good. So, after more than 5 years of being a faithful customer, I finally realized that I'm not getting the same in return. I won't be back. read more

Don't go here. I had went here for years prior to going to college and when I would come back I would get my nails and eyebrows done here. (It always seems as though you have to wait at least 40 minutes to have someone do your nails, but they lie and tell you it'll be 15 minutes). This last time I went to get my eyebrows done, the shorter woman who has her eyebrows tattooed on her (brown eyebrows) was doing them for me. She was instantly rushing to do them and I felt as though the outcome wasn't going to be too good - I was right. On my right eyebrow there was a corner top of my eyebrow that was now missing and my left eyebrow was normal. I told her about my concerns and she proceeds to make excuses talking about how she never has people complain, that wax takes off hair and how she "didn't know what my eyebrows looked like before" so how does she know that was from her. I told her I had a picture of right before I walked in for her to see. She continued to yell at me in a different language and English, and get more aggressive. I asked to speak with someone else and she tried to deny me from doing so. Luckily the man who I assume is the manager walked in and was trying to listen to what I was saying (even though she was continuing to yell about me to him in another language). I have never felt so disrespected at this establishment and it's safe to say I will make sure I tell me friends who I recommended to go there to NOT go to Sonny's. It's obvious they don't appreciate the customers that have been there for years - or customers in general. read more

Had a pedicure from a man who cut two of my toenails around the cuticle and they bled. Next time, I just went to have my nails filled BY A DIFFERENT man and was niked 5 times painfully with the drill... Today all of my nails around the cuticles are swollen and red . It hurt So much ! I HATE THIS PLACE. NEVER AGAIN. My manicure looks horrible so I am going today to have it redone by someone else. I know this was a bad review, but I do not want anyone elso to go through this. read more

I typically go to Lansing Nail Spa which is about a mile away from Sonny's, but they are not open on Sun day's and Mother's Day was the only day I had enough time to go get them done. The woman who took care of me did a good job on my pedicure, but when she started filling in my nails, she sliced my finger open with the drill. I was bleeding all over the place. She poured alcohol over it and just kept on working. She even made me pay full price afterword. My finger is still not healed, over two weeks later. I will never go to them again. read more

Never going back to this place!! The nail technician that did my nails completely ignored the fact that I wanted a square full set & did round instead. He told me "I'm doing round because you have small nails". He did a disgusting job on my nails & still expected a big tip! Ridiculous!! read more

Very disappointed!! I've been to Sonny's many times and each time was a different experience and quality of treatment. The first time I my received a gel fill-in with a no chip polish and pedicure and the service was uneventful; not wonderful, but not bad either. Two days later my the no chip on my hand and the polish on my feet were peeling. I returned and the technician was very nice and apologetic, even though for me this was a red flag, the customer service maintained my loyalty. My next few visits were satisfactory and my nails lasted for the usual 2 weeks. My daughter and her friend became customers too!, But, then we all began to share stories of the inconsistency of the quality of the service. Sometimes our nails would last for 2 weeks and other times we were returning within a day or two for repairs. We were returning for polish or no chip peeling, not a broken nail, which we would admit fault. Then Sonny's started to charge for 'repairs', that I called 'inefficient or poor quality service'. My last service was a typical gel fill-in with no chip, the no chip peeled the next day, I returned the 2nd day and was told I had to pay $2 to repair the peeling no chip. I spent an hour in this shop because it was busy, there were no apology for my inconvenience and this time the staff were rude and saying something in there language which was even more inappropriate. When I pay for a service I want it to be right the first time. And, if there is an poor quality that requires me to return frequently then a minimal apology is warranted and the cost should not be put on the customer. Sonny's have lost 3 customers (me, my daughter and her friend) and many more, because news travel fast. read more

They are very rude and racist. I had a very bad experience the 3 times I went in. The first time the lady named Tammy cut me while doing my nails and i was bleeding I snatched my hand back and they said I was too picky and started speaking about me in their language. Everyone in the establishment started staring. Since they are so close the second time I broke my nail I went in there to get it fixed they told me I had a very long wait they couldn't help me but there was no one waiting. But then the guy in the front told me he could do it and did a terrible job while talking about me the whole time. The last and final time i went in there was absolutely no one in there. He says very busy please come back. And they were closing in 40 min. My mom and boyfriend also had everything had problems in there. They are very racist. Poor service. Nail techs do a horrible job and it's not sanitary in there. This is the most horrible place I've ever been to. They are so nice to all the caucasians that come in. read more

The atmosphere was ok, the tech that did my nails was HORRIBLE. I had to show her several flaws while filing my nails, she became argumentative saying my naild were like that when I came, I tried to explain to her that if she's doing my nails then she should be fixing them as well. The tech sitting at the 1st station was able to look at my nails and immediately point out what the issue was and instructed her to fix it. The tech on my nails began working on my nails again while mumbling in her native language. As I checked out I ask her for her name and she told me she didn't have a name, I said excuse me she then said she doesn't have an American name, I said that's fine I still would like your name she paused and said Tee. Please note that if I had this tech name I would have reviewed her and not the salon so low, I feel the salon should get at least 4 stars but that tech that sits at the 2nd station deserves a 0.5.. read more
