Stopped here when we were driving through bc the parking lot was full (a good sign). My chicken strips were hand breaded and the biscuit it came with was so good. My husband got the beans and homemade cornbread. Love that the food is from scratch. The interior was cool to look at and our waitress was so nice! Can't believe I've lived so close to this place and had never gone.... Not from lack of trying,it's just that when I tried they weren't open. I'm glad I finally made it though because there is a lot to like! Starting with a very nice establishment with so much to see! I love all the old amenities and decor all around the room. The menu is as diverse as Chili's and the prices are surprisingly affordable. I went with the CFS for my 1st trip and it was pretty good! Many of the complaints I've heard in regards to CFS is that there's too much breading! Well if that's the case at least season it right and make the breading taste good! They did that! I had just finished up with work as was in the mood for catfish. A first responder recommended Sonny's so I heading over to check them out. Although I wasn't there on their catfish special day, I got the fried catfish plate with the fixings. It wasn't long before I had my plate in front of me with two large fillets in a light breading. We ate at Sonny's while traveling through Oklahoma. The service was excellent and the servers were friendly. We had the chicken fried steak and was dissapointed. It was mostly breading way out of proportion to the steak inside. Other menu choices are probably ok but I don't recommend the CFS. read more

We were so hopeful about this place. We walked in and it was visually appealing with great decor. But unfortunately our experience was very poor. We waited for nearly an hour, our server was borderline rude. Very inattentive and our order was incorrect. The worst part was that the food was very bad. My wife's food was extremely overcooked and inedible. My food order was not complete and it was not hot/borderline cold. After waiting for an hour and getting such poor service and horrible food we let the manager know we would not be eating there. Thankfully the cashier took the bill back but he was very vocal about it. It was not a good experience for us at all. Maybe it was a bad day? Maybe they had staffing issues? Catfish tasted like a salt lick for cows, loaded baked potato (requested "loaded") consisted of a tube of sour cream, pinto beans were crunchy with no flavor and I never received any coleslaw. The water and club crackers were exceptional. Crackers were not mine, they were my companions. I never received any, because I never received my coleslaw. As we were traveling up to OKC, we had this cafe pop-up on our GPS. We looked through their menu and decided we would love to try their food. It did not disappoint! This is the best cafe/diner we have ever been to! We had their chicken fried chicken as well as their catfish. Everything was fresh and crispy! The amount of food that is given to you is criminal; it will definitely keep you full for a few hours. This cafe keeps their old-fashion ways of seating yourself and paying for your meal at the counter. The waitress was nice but only came to get our order and to bring us food which was whatever because the food was a 10/10. The restaurant had a vintage country theme to it with various metal signs, taxidermy animals, and other memorabilia. There are various booths and tables, but you do have to come at a decent time before the rush or you won't find a table. Overall, if you are ever in the area, take the time to come here! read more

What happed to this place? Used to come here every morning on the weekends for breakfast and the price was fair and the food was good. Now I get charged 20$ or more plus a "convenience" fee and what I ordered wasn't even correct. I understand things cost more now but other restaurants don't seem to be affected by it and they don't charge a fee. Sad to see this place headed in this direction. I bought 2 sandwich's only and it was 21$, egg sandwich and a sausage po boy. My last visit to Sonny's recently I ordered a loaded, baked potato with extra bacon and cheese. When my potato came, it was obviously old, had been sitting out, cooked way earlier than it was served. The potato was barely warm, would not melt the butter. The bacon was sorely overcooked. The cheese was almost nonexistent after paying extra money for the cheese and bacon. I ate a few bites and told my husband this potato was just wrong so I asked our server to please remove the baked potato from our ticket. She did so right away and did not balk about removing it. They were very busy that night. The service was mediocre and we had to wait a long time for our food. They had enough time to probably cook me a fresh baked potato in the time we waited. read more

We came to Sonny's I'll traveling between Oklahoma City and Dallas. This is a country comfort food restaurant. My wife had the catfish dinner - certain days it's all you can eat - and she loved it. The highlight was the corn fritters that came with her meal. The homemade slaw was good as well. Apparently the wait staff makes some of the side dishes, what we can tell, they really know what they're doing. I had a chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, and fried okra. Steak and mashed potatoes were smothered in yummy, creamy, gravy. The most noteworthy thing about the chicken fried steak was how incredibly crunchy it was - not sure how they got that level of crunchy breading on there. Fresh rolls were great. A real highlight of the experience was the waitress, who was energetic, helpful, and funny. Wish I could remember her name! This place is a little bit off of I-35 (5 minutes), but if you're really hungry for some home cooking, it's worth the detour. read more

Absolutely disgusting food! Do they seriously serve everything on brown floppy iceberg lettuce to try and make it look more... Elegant?? This stuff is pig slop. It's literally microwave dinners. All frozen and thawed out to serve you the same food you can get for better prices at Walmart. But the worst part is how much they charge. Way over inflated prices for tiny portions. It's nice more business are trying in this area, but it's places like this that make us look bad. It's not a nice place to sit down and eat. No comfort at all. Messy and sticky. The restaurant is overwhelmingly country, but the staff is friendly and and the food is good! The most popular thing is the fried catfish, of which on certain days is all you can eat. This place is a hoot! Lots of shiny wood (think a heavily shellacked log cabin), corrugated metal, and plenty of dead animals looking over you. Lol This is a great place where the locals gather to discuss whose tractor is broke down and how Sally's mom is doing. It's greatness I tell you! The food was pretty dang good too. Hubbys chicken fried steak was HUGE and was so crispy crunchy on the outside & tender on the inside. I had the liver & onions and it was very good as well. We were so happy to find this spot while in the area for work. The outside is pretty unassuming but the interior is really fun. They have a large open area and fund decor. The place is spotless. The food was all well portioned and great tasting. They have all you can eat catfish night and I want to make the run back down!
