We dined in a few weeks ago to see if the aroma we always smell while shopping at Lowe's lived up to expectations...and it certainly did. We ordered the egg roll appetizers and they were very good. We both ordered different meats, different veggies to share and all were very tasty. They served the most tender chicken with the just right amount of smoke flavor. I wasn't super crazy about their corn muffin, but it wasn't bad, just little crumbly. We sat at the bar, as it was super busy but the staff took turns checking on us. All of the sauces were fun to try. The manager even gave us a complimentary bottle...little did he know my husband decided to order my entire Birthday party catered by his restaurant a week later. Everyone at my party enjoyed it and we are still enjoying leftovers. The BBQ, BBQ Beans, Green Beans and Mac-n-Cheese were all very tasty. Been buying Sonny's BBQ for a while now from Walmart, never knew they had restaurants. Was thrilled when I saw one today and immediately pulled over for a bite, everything was delicious, service was some of the best I've ever had, they did not disappoint! Pulled BBQ Chicken sandwich was delicious, grilled chicken lacked flavor. Pulled BBQ chicken also had multiple bones in it that were very disruptive. Grilled chicken was served on wrong bun from requested. The sizzling sweet sauce made all the difference flavor wise. Cookie was noticeably microwaved with a very crunchy center and soft outside, entirely unevenly cooked. The Mac n Cheese was nothing to rave about, probably could find something better at the IHOP next door. Fries were the best thing, perfectly crunchy. Sweet Tea was great for a first time customer (it was free). Would not recommend for takeout food. Hopefully dine-in may be a different experience. read more

The place smells great walking in but that's where it stops. Ordered the sampler plate it was a good presentation but the BBQ was cold. I hate to complain and send my food back to the kitchen so I ate some of it anyway. The wait staff seemed to be over taxed actually running from table to table, but we're really friendly. Maybe when they have been open longer and we're out of this virus thing they will improve. But as it stands I won't be returning anytime soon. read more

Curb side P/U? One of the worst places we've ever gotten food from. No one answered for curbside so we had to go inside. Stood around waiting to be helped for almost 20 mins. When I checked in with the hostess, I was told it would be 15 minutes for a table. I was NOT offered a seat at the bar. A couple came in after I did and they offered them seats at the bar. When I did FINALLY get a table, wifey and I ordered the redneck egg rolls for our appetizer. They were really greasy and over cooked. The wax paper they were on was soaked in grease. My wife found a piece of a bone in hers. Then we both ordered the pork 3way. The ribs were also over cooked and hard and the pulled pork and sliced pork wasn't even close to being warm. It was like room temperature. And my wife also found another bone in her pulled pork. We WILL NOT be coming back to this Sonny's. We'll continue to go to the Sonny's on 9th Ave. We've never had a problem with that one. And at least the food there is hot. read more

This is a new Sonny's and I love it! I've been there twice already in a month and it has been consistent with service, food, etc. The best time to go before their rush is 11 or 11:30. I live over in Pensacola and have a hard time choosing which Sonny's I love so much. The one on 9th is cozy yet the one on Pine Forest is as well. The vibe and atmosphere in these restaurants are so unique, the way a BBQ place should be. I've yet to meet an unfriendly employee and all seem to love what they do. It's not even that expensive. You can easily do a lunch for $20. I'm sure Sonny's won't reveal their secrets to success so whatever it is, keep doing it and great job on the new location Sonny's! read more

As usual, the sliced pork is wonderful. We've been several times and the food is consistently great. Every dish we've seen come out of the kitchen has been very good. Only complaint is there is usually a long wait time. Other than that, this is my BBQ place to eat. read more

I ordered the Sweet Carolina deal, the bun looked like it was toasted, yet was refrigerator temperature. The meat was slightly above room temperature but had a nice flavor. The coleslaw was ok taste wise. The presentation was like a school lunch. The Coke also had so much ice that it was around two sips worth. The fries were so so, warm but not hot. Always friendly and fast service. They are open past 9pm every night which is later than most places in this area. They also have a bar with booth seating nearby. There are two large TVs at the bar area that are easily visible from the booths. This location is fairly new with a nice open layout. There is outdoor seating available as well. Drive thru service is also very efficient for it not being a fast food establishment. read more

Went to Sonny's to celebrate a birthday with a party of 8. They split us up and sat us apart from the group, 4 were in one part of the building and our group another. Which, made no sense. We came to have a good time but we waited 30 minutes to be seated apart, the waitress was trying but she needed help. Took us 15 minutes for two waters a lemonade and sweet tea. It was over an hour and 15 minutes before we got our appetizers... food was good, tip though, get a bun and not the garlic bread. Portions seemed small. I've never been a big fan of Sonny's due to it being a chain BBQ restaurant but when the new restaurant opened in Pace, I thought we'd give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was good and hot and the ribs were to die for. I think what made our experience so good was our server, Lisa. She knew the menu and made great recommendations. She always had a smile on her face and was very prompt with her service. She made us feel like a member of her family. If you haven't gone yet, try it out but, MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR LISA!
