Sonic Drive-In Worst customer service on the phone I have ever experienced in my life, I called to ask to speak with a manager and I had a employee a girl say "manager busy", I asked how long would it take for a manager to come and assist me she said "manager busy" again, I asked the same question and then she claimed to be the manager, so I said " why are you claiming to be the manager if I just asked and you said she was busy..." then she hung the phone up. Any guest is permitted at all times to speak with a manager present if asked, and if she is a manager denying her role and avoiding a conversation on the phone entirely you need to fire her, horrible attitude she gave as well read more

Stars for this restaurant should be in the negative! Sat in the drive thru for 30 mins, finally addressed to get the order taken care of. Pulled up to the window, no one came to the window to acknowledge us. 20 minutes pass with at least 3 cars behind us getting served their order, watching this, a young man finally comes to the window! Meal is paid for and still nothing. Requested to speak to the manager, he has no explanation for our situation, only that "maybe" the order wasn't processed. Why did we have to sit 20 mins at the window waiting to know this information and why bypass us completely when you can clearly see us sitting at the window. I love sonic because it's one of two drive restaurant in are local city. Sonic is drive-thru or dine in car only. My reason for four stars instead of 5, is I think that whatever batter they cook the onion rings and sweet and it's not necessarily my favorite, as well as I think they can improve on cleaning the from yeah around the lot. I highly recommend their Ocean Water drink and it's very easy to re-create art your home, the chili cheese coney and bacon cheeseburgers. Entering their lot of Lucy lane is a little of a labyrinth, proceed slowly and with caution. read more

The first and only time I will ever visit a Sonic. The manager Rachel is the worse, she is rude, nasty and very unprofessional. She took our order back to verify it was right and then wouldn't return the full order and left us in the car to never return. Then we went to see what the issue was she ignored us and threaten to call the police and then ignored us. She said she would queue it up on the screen and we could pay. Never came up. When we called in to see what was goin on she said we had to order it! Took forever. Pushed the red button, started flashing the message that it was activated some one would be right with me. Perfect service today from the wonderful wait staff especially, Shasta, at Sonic!! We had a delicious hot breakfast sandwich along with super hot fries. When above and beyond the call of duty when my car wouldn't start and I had to call a tow truck. I went to sonic waynesboro va to get a brownie batter shake. They are advertised as a chocolate brownie batter with bits of brownies. My shake was vanilla in color and did not taste at all like brownie batter. I went up to the window and showed my vanilla shake to the person working and told her I thought they had given me the wrong shake. She said no it was a brownie batter shake. (9/14/19) Disappointed in this location. We drove from Charlottesville, a good half hour, to come to the closest Sonic to us for a nostalgic date. Pulled into a stall just to be told they're only serving drive thru that night... okay. So we get in the drive thru and after 20 minutes, pull up to the speaker box and we're told that the man speaking is the "only one here tonight" and there will be another 20-30 minute wait. When we had arrived I saw two young men in the building. When we were leaving we saw at least three others. I'd say there were 4-5 people there in the building. It's a Saturday night and I believe they were just too lazy to do their job. A waste of gas and time. I'm thoroughly disappointed and don't know if I will be back. read more

Our order had three meals, an order of mozzarella sticks, 4 drinks, and two nerd slushies. My husband hates Sonic, so it was a huge sacrifice that he took me there today. I was sure that we would have a great experience, as I almost always have at Sonic. When we were ordering, we downloaded the app so we could pay via the app, as the card reader was not working. By the time I downloaded the app, the option to pay by app was no longer on the screen. When the food arrived, the tots were cold and greasy and the server said that no one on site knew how to return the option to pay via the app. She brought us fresh, hot, re-fried tots that were too greasy to eat. Both tot orders were trashed. The chicken sandwich had such a thin piece of chicken that once fried, it was comparable to correlated board. Trashed that. The all natural lemonade was from concentrate. I know this because they somehow missed diluting my large lemonade and it too, was just thrown away. The mix was off, or somehow bitter on the Coke, or they just may have substituted diet C instead. My burger was good, as were the lukewarm cheese sticks. $25 lunch, of which the cheese sticks and burger were consumed. What a horrible opportunity missed for Sonic to impress. read more

No employee would speak to us the entire time. If we hadn't paid already, we would have left. Given our food with no sauce & no opportunity to ask for any. When we finally got to eat our food, it was trash. My burger was clearly old, nowhere close to fresh. I could have driven 5 minutes down the street from my house to Wendy's and got a much better burger. I drove an hour out of my way for some sonic, and I will never be back. Went there for popcorn chicken recently and it was horrible, like fried pieces of dough tasting like chicken. I've had popcorn chicken at other sonics while driving cross country and have never experienced anything like the one in Waynesboro. Service is either great or it's terrible. When they get the order right, I love this place. Unfortunately, about 50% of the time, there will be a problem with the order or the ordering of the food. When I want Sonic, I will go with the mindset that I may or may not get the food. I keep a backup plan in mind. It's a shame that it is not more consistent. read more

tl;dr 25 minute wait after ordering. Saddest grilled cheese ever. Out of tater tots. The computer system for ordering is down, requiring multiple trips to the building to check on our order. We should have known when we first pulled up to the drive-in bay: the LCD display on the credit-card reader said "LAN CONNECTIVITY TIMEOUT" or some such. We should have driven straight to Wendy's. But I am too trusting: the intercom worked, and they let us order, so I assumed everything would be okay. After a few minutes I was wondering if we had a problem. We hadn't paid yet, due to the computer issue, and we suspected that maybe we had to pay before the order went to the kitchen. So I made a trip into the building to pay. A young man assured me that the carhop would swipe our card and that the order was forthcoming. His words were friendly; his face said "why are you here, didn't you see the EMPLOYEES ONLY sign?" Yes, but our order appeared to require human interaction. Sorry Sonic... Twenty more minutes pass. My father goes into the building. He meets the carhop who has our food. Somehow he is able to pay. Amazing! We got onion rings (because they were out of tater tots), a crispy chicken sandwich, two junior deluxe cheeseburgers, and a grilled cheese sandwich. The onion rings are very good! The burgers are fine. My father ate the chicken sandwich without comment, so I can't say much about that. My girlfriend has the grilled cheese. It is the saddest grilled cheese either of us has ever seen. It has never met a grill. Somebody put a piece of cheese between two slices of Wonder bread and microwaved it. The result was chewy -- simultaneously soggy and dry as only a microwave can do to bread. Eww. We've liked Sonic elsewhere. We won't be coming back to this one. BTW, on a previous visit to this same sonic, their computer was totally down and they declined service and sent us on our way quickly. At least that didn't consume 25 minutes! read more

I kid you not. This was the WORST experience in food service I've ever had - not even just Sonic specific, but seriously ever. We were on a road trip and I specifically stopped at Sonic with a group because Sonic is delicious and quick and easy. This turned out to be the most horrible decision. It took multiple attempts to get someone to answer the intercom, wrong food orders, their card machine wouldn't work. Originally they said a 10 minute wait. Well those 10 minutes literally dragged into over an hour to the point where we left without food. I had to repeatedly ask someone where our food was, what was happening inside. There were tons of workers and I counted over 15 orders sitting there with no food. People started driving away without the food they had payed for, or started coming to the door to inquire. At least 5 different people were at the door finally asking what the hold up was and the workers had literally nothing to say. Basic common sense? Use communication to let customers know what is happening. People will much more willing to have some grace if they aren't being deceived. At this point, people started lining up to tell them to cancel their orders because we waited OVER AN HOUR. For Sonic? Never again. I have absolutely no idea why we gave it a chance and sat there, wasting an hour of our time on something we paid for that never came. The employees had no apologies. I will NEVER come to this Sonic again. read more
