Overall very average, my review is only on the car port service. the grounds and fixtures were meticulously clean. First time visitor, we ordered our food and didn't ask for condiments or napkins, assumed those were included as order taker didn't ask. I ask the kid who brought the order to the car if those were in the bag and his response was "there should be", wasn't included. Hubs and I were hangry on our way to an event and saw the dill pickle burger. Both of us being massive pickle wh*res we yanked a left and pulled into one of their carhop slips. One night my guy and I had a hankering for some breakfast sandwiches. It's difficult to find a drive thru place that serves breakfast at night and I don't like Dunkin. So we decided to try Sonic. It was my first-ever time going to a Sonic. They had a large menu in general, but was happy to see some different breakfast choices. I got the bacon, egg, and cheese on a bun. The bacon was like real crispy bacon and the eggs were scrambled just like I like. I didn't care as much for the bun, which tasted good, but was almost too soft. Overall I would give the food 3 stars, but gave an extra star for being able to get a quick breakfast that is not Dunkin at night time. Service was quick. Moey and I got here right before the lunch rush and we were planning on dining inside Sonic but we later agreed that the car-hop thing was part of the Sonic X-perience. The menu was ausum -lots of stuff other than what other phast phood places offer. Sonic got 'em Coney Chili Dogs, Chicago Dogs, Other Dogs, Loaded Tots and lots high-calorie junk food and shakes and slushes and bevs -creative ones too. Let's run down some deets here: We decided on our foods and then pressed the red button and were greeted by a friendly-as-hell gal named Jada. She was wicked competent and nice as we changed our order a couple times on some items and reordered. She was zen with this, bro, and was helpful and patient. I ordered a Chicago Dog and a Pretzel Bacon Dog with grilled onions and a medium Jalapeno Poppers and a Grape Nerds Slush. Moey got Tots and a Crispy Chicken Sammie and a regular pop. Jada zipped out to my whip less than ten minutes later on her roller-skates and served our victuals while verbally confirming our items. All my food was TDF AF. The Pretzel Bacon Dog was delish and the Chicago Dog was scrump. Moey's was all good too, although her choices were rather basic so it was nothing unique or mental but she liked it just fine. We both loved the Grape Nerds Slush. It had a wicked lot of Nerds in it. My Jalapeno Poppers were hot as hell (temperature-wise) and they were yumski AF as I submerged them deep into some Sonic/Monsanto Ranch Dip. All my food was fresh and hot, bro, even the grilled onions. Hats (and all clothes) off to Sonic for being da kine and wicked unicorn. Pig out here on junk food, YELPers. Do it now. YOLO... I first tried Sonic when I was in Texas earlier this year. My friend who frequents Sonic in Texas warned me to never get their food, and only order their slushes/shakes. We don't live close to this Sonic, but happened to be in town. I took my friends advice and ordered ahead of time on their app which gives you 50% off of your slushes. When I arrived we parked in a stall and checked in. I was a bit concerned that we'd have a long wait as they were pretty busy, but about 5 minutes or less after checking in our car hop was already roller skating over to us with our order. My husband and I both got slushes and or son had a milkshake. Everything was perfect and our car hop server was extremely pleasant. My husband and I recently stopped here while on our way home from errands. I didn't eat anything as I don't eat meat or fast food, but am writing this review for my husband. We used the drive-thru as we were taking the food home. We pulled in and there were no cars ahead of us; great! We drive up to the window to pay, and receive our drinks. We wait. And we wait. At this time, cars are pulling up behind us. We waited more. I then see the woman who was at our window directing two of the cars behind us to wait at the car ports. I started he wonder what the heck was going on. After about 10 minutes, someone finally came to our window and told us they were out of foot-long hot dogs and asked my husband if he wanted four regular hot dogs instead. He said that was fine, no big deal. I'm honestly not sure if this was the hold up or not, as we never found out. Very odd. After that woman left, another woman came to the window and handed us coupons as said "my manager would like to give these to you as an apology for the wait and for not having what you ordered in stock." The coupons were for two free meals and a free ice cream. Super nice of them, and completely unexpected! My husband enjoyed his food. I mean, it's fast food. It's not good, but he enjoyed it. Expect to pay a premium for tasty, well-made food which disappoints you when it's actually terribly slapped together and has essential elements missing 8/10 times because their employees are just so inconsistent at making food as you ordered. I love Sonic! I used to go there everyday until I started a diet. I recently returned for a cheat day and I was very disappointed. It was not the Sonic I remember.... I'll admit, I'm addicted. Ever since they opened, I've been obsessed with going here as often as possible. You can order inside at the counter, park outside at the car-hop stations (please remember to bring cash for a tip, you can't tip on CC), or the drive-thru, which I haven't tried yet. Either way, your order will be brought to you by an employee on skates, and they review your order to make sure you're getting what you asked for. One side-note for the people complaining about drive-thru speeds; Sonic makes food to order; it's not pre-made like other places. That's why it takes so long. Don't expect McD speeds from a Sonic. To be honest, I'm surprised they even bothered putting in a double-lane drive-thru. Inside, the seating is decent, though the metal chairs are uncomfortable as heck. If you happen to see a cashier named Lucy, she is perhaps the friendliest foodservice worker I have ever met in my life. On to the food. Most of it is fantastic. The burgers are delicious, the french toast sticks are good, and the tater tots are to die for. I would murder my own mother for more ice cream cones. (Not really, but you know what I mean.) A couple items I'm not in love with are: the corn dogs. They're downright awful. It's the first time in my life I've thrown one away after one bite. The lil grillers are overpriced for what you get. And I can't believe I'm saying this, but there's too much sausage in the breakfast burrito; it overwhelms it. All in all, I can't get enough of this place. I'm in love. Bell hops were friendly but the wait time and the drive through wait time was horrible burger King and McDonald's and Wendy's put together was faster and the food better . Sonic of Somerset is a much-needed breath of fresh air for the area.The closest Sonics to the southcoast area (besides this one) are in the far end of Rhode Island and on the other side of Boston. Area residents can atest that for years we have been badgered with commercials for Sonic with no hope of ever getting to eat their food unless we traveled somewhere that had one. Now that Sonic has expanded its' roller skate-clad empire to the Northeast we can rest easy knowing slushes and cinnabursts are only a short drive away. Sonic of Somerset has a cute set-up. There is a surpirisingly hip looking dining room and the carports offer a nice alternative for folks who don't feel like sitting down to a meal but don't want to rush through a drive-thru to order their food either. We ate inside during their "Facebook Event" and watched as the traffic out front grew to a massive line on Route Six. We parked at the Home Depot and walked over to eat inside and while the crazy rush continues for the first few weeks it's open you might have to do the same. Good burgers, fries, mozzerela sticks, and treats all around. The splenda-flavor shot slushies do not have that awful "fake sugar" taste to them and offer the rare (at Sonic) low-calorie treat. My only complaint is that the menu lacks healthy options, like salads. More vegetables would liven up the menu but if you're feeling like eating typical fast food this is the best the area has to offer. read more
