Sonic Drive Inn advertises on tv all over the country, so it's no surprise when it comes up in Hawaii's television market. With that said, Sonic does not have any locations in the islands, so when I have a chance, I would come over here (and Olive Garden) and just enjoy what Sonic has to offer. While Sonic is just another fast food joint, it is kind of cool to be in one of these places out here in Rapid City, SD. I had the #2 combo, which seemed decently good. The restaurant itself reminded me of what basically most fast food restaurants have. I didn't really stay long to enjoy the atmosphere that was Sonic Drive Inn, since I just ran a marathon that morning, and I wanted to hobble back to the Days Inn where I was staying, which was pretty much next door. Too bad there isn't a Sonic Drive Inn in Hawaii, otherwise, I would be all over it. The person who serviced me that fateful day was like, I wish I wasn't here right now, and I could tell it in her voice. There was plenty of parking here, since it was attached to a strip mall in the back of the restaurant, and the restaurant was sitting on the entrance @ Jackson Blvd. After taking my order, she went in the back and subsequently got scolded for using work time to text or make personal phone calls while at work. It was loud enough, so that everyone else in the restaurant at the time, started to giggle with delight. I even caught myself smirking, when I was so tired and needed some food to get me through the afternoon. I thought I would include that tn there. Other than that, I enjoyed my time here at Sonic Drive Inn and hope to see and eat more @ Sonic during my travels around the USA. It's been fun though. Overall, this place is pretty average, but of course, that's what I said about McDonald's and Burger King. Made in the USA! B+

A female employee with dark hair that works the evenings was very rude and disrespectful when I went through the drive thru.

The chocolate ice cream was really good and mixed with the crumbled Oreos perfectly, making each bite have little bits of cookies mixed in the ice cream. Highly recommend! Mom got Lauren's landslide and she really loved it too. She liked the vanilla and chocolate mixed ice cream as well as the huge cookie dough chunks. And how doesn't love caramel and chocolate on top of their ice cream?? We had to wait in line about 20-30 minutes, and then had to wait another 15 minutes or so before they called our name with our finished order at the window so be prepared to wait a little, especially if you visit during the weekend. But overall it was worth it to me. The ice cream was smooth and yummy and I loved the cookie pieces mixed into it.

In March, my family attended a movie at Golden Ticket Cinemas 7. After purchasing tickets and concessions, we entered a nearly empty theater only one other person was present. Shortly after, a manager informed us that due to demand for another showing, we would need to leave. Instead of a refund, we were given a green ticket stub with a six-digit code to use at a later date. About seven weeks later, we tried to use that credit. Like many customers, we planned ahead and attempted to reserve seats online. The system showed availability, but when we entered the six-digit code, it was not accepted. I called the theater for help and asked if they could hold seats for the next day especially since we already had credit from a prior inconvenience. They declined, citing expected demand. I then asked for a promo code or any workaround to reserve seats in advance, and that was also declined. This creates a frustrating situation: the theater has already received payment, but the customer assumes all the risk. If we had shown up the next day and the theater was full, we would have been turned away again with no guarantee of service despite already paying. To avoid that outcome, I had to drive across town the night before, go in person, and redeem the stubs just to secure seats. That shouldn't be necessary in a system where online reservations are the norm. I understand policies are meant to protect a business, but there should be reasonable accommodations especially after a disrupted experience initiated by the theater itself. Even a simple solution like temporarily holding seats with a release window would have resolved this. Instead, what should have been a recovery from a poor first experience became a second frustrating one. That's disappointing and feels entirely avoidable.

January 01, 2025 My…read morepartner and I ventured to the Taco Bell on Cathedral Drive for lunch after work. The interior was clean and updated, gleaming under fluorescent lights that seemed just a little too bright--bright enough, perhaps, to illuminate secrets best left in shadow. Outside, a RCPD vehicle circled the building like a hawk eyeing its prey. A coincidence? An officer on lunch break? Or something more profound? This marked my second unsettlingly close encounter with RCPD that day. I took note, as one should. We decided to split the Crispy Chicken Nuggets Deluxe Meal, a feast of decadence and excess: five crispy chicken nuggets with a choice of sauce, a crunchy taco, a Chalupa Supreme, seasoned fries, nacho cheese sauce, and a medium fountain drink. For the uninitiated, this is not just a meal but a ritual, a series of textures and flavors designed to challenge and satiate. I requested a Doritos Locos Crunchy Taco instead of the standard offering, a harmless substitution--or so I thought. As I placed the order, an employee who wasn't handling the register approached. He was an enigma of a man, his two-day stubble an ode to disarray, his eyes brimming with a wild, untamed knowledge. His voice boomed across the counter, echoing like a prophet issuing a decree: "We only have the Signature Bell Sauce." It wasn't a request, nor an apology--it was a warning. I nodded, attempting to convey my acceptance. The Bell Sauce would suffice. But the man was unmoved. He repeated his proclamation, louder, as if the air itself had resisted carrying his words. Was he hard of hearing? Or was he trying to ensure that I truly understood? Perhaps he knew something I did not. What could lie behind this strange absence of sauces? A supply chain issue? A disruption in the fabric of reality? Or was the Bell Sauce itself the only thing standing between us and an unspeakable doom? I confirmed, out loud this time, that the Bell Sauce was fine. His reaction was... strange. His stance shifted as if bracing against an unseen force, his voice rising once more: "We only have Bell Sauce. Is that okay?" I cannot stop wondering if I failed to decode the deeper meaning in his words, a message veiled in corporate jargon. Was I meant to heed his warning, to flee the premises while I still could? We placed the order anyway. I chose a Diet Mountain Dew as my drink, a decision made not out of desire but necessity. As a Diet Coke and Coke Zero loyalist, this was no small compromise, but it had nothing to do with the establishment. It was a personal cross to bear. When the food arrived, we discovered the Signature Bell Sauce was missing entirely. We had to request it, a minor inconvenience--but also an omen. Could it be that the sauce wasn't merely missing but intentionally withheld, a test of some kind? Or was it, perhaps, never meant to be delivered at all? The meal itself was as expected: warm, flavorful, and acceptable in every way. The seasoned fries were crisp, the nuggets delightfully fried, and the Doritos Locos Crunchy Taco as vibrant as ever. Still, I left the Cathedral Drive Taco Bell with a lingering sense of unease, as though I had witnessed something I wasn't meant to see, felt the brush of something cosmic and unknowable. Would I return? Certainly. But I will tread carefully, for the mysteries of the Bell Sauce and the ever-watchful gaze of the RCPD remain unsolved.
