I know this Sonic has a bunch of bad reviews, so maybe giving it five stars puts my credibility at risk--but I can only call it how I taste it. I've eaten here before and never thought much of it. But today? Everything just clicked. The $6 All-American Smash Burger with fries and a Coke was shockingly good. I'm talking "one of the best burgers I've had in a while" good. Fresh, hot, juicy, with crispy edges and a perfect amount of condiments dripping down my hand. You could tell the cook actually cared--pickles spread out, tomato centered, ketchup/mayo/mustard evenly distributed. That never happens at fast-food places. The fries were hot and freshly cooked, and the Coke had great carbonation. I ordered through the app at spot #4. It said five minutes but ended up being nine--not a big deal. The woman who brought out the order was very polite, double-checked everything, and made sure it was right. Only small gripe: the Sonic app only lets you select five condiments. I wanted four ketchups but had to settle for one salt, two peppers, and two ketchups. Bottom line: unexpectedly excellent meal today. read more

I used to stop at Sonic for breakfast almost every morning back when I lived in Tampa, so when I saw this Oviedo location, I gave in to impulse and pulled in for a nostalgic bite. Right away, I noticed most of the menu boards were missing, which made the place feel a little forgotten. I ordered a breakfast burrito and the essential Ocean Water. The wait stretched close to 20 minutes, but that wasn't surprising since they usually cook everything fresh. Once my order arrived, I went for the Ocean Water first, only to find it was disappointingly flat. Then came the burrito... or at least what I think was supposed to be a burrito. It was tiny. But the drinks are the draw for me as the milkshakes are all good and the slushes are fantastic. Sometimes it takes a long time to get your food or drinks. This sonic is always hit or miss. I have been to this Sonic about 10 times. There's times when this place is 5 stars and there is amazing and quick service. However there is times where this restaurant is 1 star. Pros: the last trip I went through the drive thru and I got my food in about 4 minutes. The food tasted great and it was actually hot. Cons: for the love of everything that is great make sure not to use the park and order. The food takes forever and I'm pretty sure it's because they are not timed. This joint got A LOT of bad reviews but our experience was average at worse. We utilized the dine-in parking. The employee taking our order was a bit of a downer, no welcome, no thank you jus mono-tone. The food came out FAST the server was pleasant. We got a bacon cheeseburger meal with cheese sticks and a strawberry limeade. Besides the top to the bun that looked like it suffered a round of ground and pound the food was hot and tastey. No roller skates!?!? All in ive had worse but that bun should not of made it out of the kitchen and our order was taken by a funeral MC. We probably get food here multiple times a month. Maybe not anymore. It's not even about the service that screwed up the wife's french fries (she asked for chili and cheese and they didn't get it on). That I can chalk up to staff that should NEVER be paid $15/hour. After Hurricane Irma we went there and got chili cheese dogs as they were one of the first opened after the events. We noticed that the dogs tasted old (almost rotten) and chalked it up to them working off pre-hurricane inventory that must have not stayed chilled. Well a month after the hurricane the hot dogs in the chili cheese dogs are still bad and there's no excuse for using product that's gone bad at this point. WOW. I'm definitely informing their corporate as they're going to make someone very sick... ------------ Update to review. UGH. This Sonic KILLS ME. There are two big issues at hand. 1. The music is SO LOUD that it makes it impossible to order and be heard properly, even when the carhop is right outside your window. 2. This place is in dire need of a manager over the age of 16. The staff is a bunch of rude kids who never seem to be able to get a full order right. Case in point my trip today. When the kid taking my order read it back to me he had it wrong so I corrected him. Then he snapped at me for correcting him. And despite all that, my hamburger was still wrong. The food is fine, and the shakes are really good, but some days you had to wonder if its worth it. Will your order be right? Will they be snotty as hell to you? Who knows?
