I've been to this Sonic twice recently, mostly due to its proximity to the 41 between Yosemite and Fresno. On the first occasion, I ordered a grilled cheese (pictured) and a small hot fudge shake. I'd been craving a hot fudge sundae for weeks, but was driving with a broken arm, so the shake seemed like the perfect solution. The hot fudge shake was pretty good. It tasted like mostly vanilla ice cream with a lot of hot fudge in it, topped with (what tasted like) real whipped cream and a cherry. The grilled cheese sandwich was such an atrocity. I did eat the whole thing, but it didn't taste very good. It tasted like government cheese on whole wheat bread melted inside of the aluminum and parchment paper it was delivered in. The next time I came back, I only ordered a medium hot fudge shake. This time was a weird experience. The line wasn't very long, but it took forever to get through. At first, I assumed that someone ahead of me had ordered a huge order. When I got to the window, waiting to pay for just a shake, I sat there for several minutes before I was greeted or acknowledged at all. When the cashier finally got to the window, I gave him my card. My phone alerted me to the fact that I was charged within seconds, but it was still several more minutes before my card was returned to me, along with a shake with a cherry that had sunken all the way to the bottom. At first, I wondered what had happened to the cherry. Why could I see grenadine, but not find a cherry? Had the cashier placed the cherry on top of the whipped cream, and then removed it? The mystery of the cherry was not solved until I got to the very bottom of the shake. To make matters worse, there was no hot fudge. I'm not sure if the cashier forgot the hot fudge, since he was clearly doing all of the jobs in the restaurant by himself without any other staff, or if he was out of hot fudge, and just decided not to tell me. But, having worked so many years in retail and restaurants myself, it seemed very clear to me that the cashier was actually the only person at work at Sonic. He was running it all alone. The reason he wasn't able to give me my card back right away was because he was busy taking other people's orders, putting fries down, getting together everything he could ahead of time, and generally doing four full time fast food jobs by himself. He was definitely working very hard and trying to take care of everything without any help, but he needed more help. This experience sucked due to understaffing on the part of Sonic. If the employee happens to read this, I think he should consider getting a job somewhere that treats him better. (Speaking from experience as someone who has a permanent arm injury from taking on too much restaurant work without enough help.) But when Sonic's hot fudge shakes are made right and don't come with a twenty minute wait, they're pretty good. read more

We waited in line in front of just 4 Cars for over 20 minutes. Very Slow Service. Nothing like typical Sonic. If you are used to getting in and out of drive through in responsible time don't go here. Staff are rude to customers with no care about quality of service or food. read more

No one in front of me. I placed my order which I specifically asked for extra ranch cups with my chicken tender dinner. It took 18 minutes and I was in a hurry to pick up my dog from groomer, so I didn't look inside bag, but she said when handing me my food that "ranch is in the bag." They gave me ONE ranch for 5 OVERDONE chicken tenders. Very disappointed. I would definitely not recommend this Sonic. read more

If you're looking for a "Quick" meal don't stop here. I've always wondered why the line is always so long, well today I found out. They have got to be THE slowest location I've ever been to. There was one car in front of us when we arrived and we didn't get our food till almost 40 mins later. We ordered to things of fries and a couple soft pretzels. Not sure if I'll be stopping there again anytime soon. read more

Never been a fan of sonic. This location has changed that! My breakfast sandwich was LOADED WITH BACON, and it was quick fast and cheap! I also love the cheese sticks here. Fantastic! Well, what can I say I used to love to come here and get a Oreo ice cream but sadly I came through one evening on my way home from out of town. It was about 7:30 PM. I ordered my Oreo ice cream, and a large fry and a drink. Well you ever start eating in the dark and you pull out a great big long black hair out of your mouth, absolutely disgusting I am surprised I didn't toss my cookies. They don't wear any hairnet here at sonic of course a lot of places don't I really wish they would start not only did I pull the hair out of my mouth there was even more hair in the fries it's no way it could be mine. My hair is blonde not black, come on sonic it with the program anymore. Bad reviews sadly to say will lose another fast food restaurant in Coarsegold. read more

Living less than a mile away, with no other fast food place within a 7 mile radius, I was looking forward to the opening of Sonic. I was very disappointed in my order the first time--order took 25 minutes, food was cold, the burger patty didn't taste like any meat I've ever had, the mayo they use is AWFUL, but I told myself that since it was their first week open that things would improve. Well, that has not been very true. I have returned several times. 7 to be exact. The wait time is better now and I have tried several different things on the menu but nothing that I would order again. Food is warm now, but not hot, mayo still ghastly, fried foods oil needs changing, their "beef?" patties just not edible, nor can I recommend the hot dogs., neither can my dogs, lol. I can say that their cherry limeade is very good, comes with a maraschino cherry and a lime slice! But there's nothing I would order with it. Yes, I have complained to managers, they are very helpful and replaced my orders on several occasions. I recommend that you check your order BEFORE you leave, and your best chance of getting hot food is to park and go inside. I doubt that you will return, local or not. read more

We were the only car in the drive-through when we ordered and it took 20-25min to receive our order! Our fries & tater tots were lukewarm & tasted old. My chicken sandwich tasted like it had been sitting around & re-heated in microwave. My husband's popcorn chicken had no meat & just tasted like fried batter & hard as a rock. Before you say I'm crazy for giving 4 stars let me explain. Yes this is possibly the slowest sonic on the face of the earth. Why is it four stars? No other Sonic has the consistency when it comes to the food. Yeah your gonna wait a really long time. I'm in love with the slushies and mozzarella sticks. They make their food fresh every time. Every time I go to a different sonic you can tell they its been under that heat lamp working on its sogginess. If your only there for a slush if there is a line at the drive through go inside you'll be out in minutes. If there are more than 3 cars in line you might want to grab a snack it's gonna be a while. Weed store is the next driveway so you get a lot of big orders here. So just know it's gonna be a while. It's mostly high school kids working here so give them a slight break. They could be home doing nothing, but they are here so you can eat. It's not a five star restaurant. For what sonic is this location is consistent in the quality. They make it fresh. I'd rather wait and know it's hot and fresh instead of quick and stale. I'm here 2 or 3 times a week working on my patience just for a blue coconut slush and some mozzarella cheese sticks. read more

They should have their sonic franchise taken away. you could cook your hamburger quicker than they prepare it for you. Takes 20 mins With just one car ahead of you. Complete waste of time. What a joke this place is! I think maybe two out of 10 times each time.. they get my order right! Specially on the hotdog the first thing I say is "no relish"! And once that gets on there and touches the bread there is no getting rid of that taste! They are horrible horrible horrible... I don't know what is going on, but their manager needs to be there for ALL employees to train, to listen AND make sure the order is correct. Just because the cook threw it up doesn't mean it's what the order is..who's ever taking the order is basically the waitress.. if you're serving your customer you're should be sure they're getting what they ordered... that's on you, then YOU need to tell the cook, before you hand it to the customer... people. They made it right and my next concern was the look of what appeared to be over cooked Pattie's, they with the rest of the burger turned out pretty darn good! This place sucks. Not much more to it. Every food item I've ordered in 3 or 4 visits takes incredibly long to come out which is interesting considering the fact they're usually old and cold. The shakes are the exception. The shakes are great but I won't eat here any longer unless it's just a shake. Not to mention they have messed half my orders up and the food is junk. read more

First time coming to a sonic all the way from Maui and we totally enjoyed it. It was a prime stop for us since our Airbnb was right around the corner. The girls in the morning are so friendly but the evening crew are horrible. We thought maybe the guy was having a bad night since he preferred looking at his phone the whole time rather than taking a order but the second night we came and the red head girl couldn't stop rolling her eyes. I was raised in the Midwest and back there Sonic had breaded tenderloin sandwiches. They are my very favorite sandwich. However, now that I'm in Calif there is no tenderloin on the menu. I think it would be a best seller. But anything SONIC has Is the best fast food you can get! read more

Their food is terrible. The staff is clueless. The tater tots taste old and hard. The milkshakes did not have the whipped cream or cherry on top. I had to hand them back. Had to ask for sauce for the chicken dinner we ordered and the girl kept insisting it only came with chicken and a drink. I asked her if the one bag ($28 order) had everything and she said yes and I said no then she looked to her right and saw our other bag. Ridiculous. There's no excuse to throw away good money ESPECIALLY in these times. Management needs to properly train their employees. They do not answer their phones. The Fresno location is great. I wonder if these are franchises because the food and service is horrific. Don't expect fresh it's stale and tastes old.. read more

If I could leave ZERO stars I would. When this place first opened it was great. The last few times we have been here the wait in the drive thru has been absolutely insanely long for the little amount of cars in the drive thru. Im talking 4 cars in the drive thru at least a 25 minute wait EVERY TIME. This most recent incident, tonight to be exact, waited over 30 minutes in the drive thru to order 2 milkshakes. Got into line at 8:35, they don't close until 9, perfect, I have 25 minutes until they close. I FINALLY get to order at 9:05 and am informed that they are not doing ice cream anymore since they "already turned off the machine for the night". Seriously?! You have cars that have been waiting since BEFORE you closed for the night and you shut down your machines before you have completed the drive thru line of people that have been waiting over 30 minutes to order???! Bullshit. Oh but they say they "will turn the machine back on, but it will be a watered down shake". This place is an embarrassment to Sonics everywhere. Horrible customer service and tonight has solidified that. read more
