Our 8-year-old nephew picked out a Yosemite baseball cap for his uncle over 4th of July weekend while we were at Priest Station Cafe, a great stop and well worth the view after that windy drive. Fast-forward to the end of summer of daily wear, and the cap was nowhere to be found. Priest Station no longer had the cap, but they referred us to Lucky Buck Cafe, their sister cafe. We called, and luckily, Heather picked up. In the middle of a breakfast rush, she took the time to look and found not one, but two green Yosemite caps! We asked if they shipped items, they don't. But Heather offered to ship them to us. This is not a regular service, and Heather truly went above and beyond. She understood that this wasn't just about replacing a hat, it was about replacing a cherished gift and making sure an 8-year-old would be none the wiser. We are incredibly grateful for her kindness and thoughtfulness. Thank you, Heather, you saved us! On our next trip back to Yosemite, we are definitely going to stop at Lucky Buck Cafe to enjoy the food and, hopefully, finally meet Heather in person. This cafe is one of the very few dinners on the way to Yosemite so a lot of people stop over here. The service is attentive and the ambiance is friendly and cozy, however... 1. Lots of flies inside the restaurant, I had to use one hand to constantly swapping bugs away while eating. 2. The food have big portions, but the chicken penne marinara I ordered the pasta is so over cooked, I highly suspect they were microwave reheated pasta with pre-cooked chicken breast. read more

We came to Lucky on a Saturday afternoon and they were able to accommodate 6 adults and 1 toddler. Our server also gave my nephew a coloring set which was so thoughtful of her . The portion size was massive! Large portions = more nibbling especially on a roadtrip. I had the spicy chicken sandwich with the sweet potato waffle fries and it was sooo good. Stopped at this little cafe, as it was the only food option open near our hotel (Firefall Ranch). It's a great place to stop on the way to/from Yosemite, too. FOOD: got a BLTA (bacon, lettuce, tomato, turkey, avocado) sandwich. It was good, but nothing particularly special. My partner didn't care for his Reuben because it had too much sauerkraut. My kids shared a grilled cheese sandwich. The bread was definitely a whole wheat, like you could taste the grains. I think a smooth wheat would've been better. Overall, decent amount of options.. SERVICE: this is where this place shined. Charity was our waitress and she was awesome! I am not easily impressed, but she definitely impressed me. She went above and beyond. She printed coloring sheets for my kids. When my picky daughter was let down by goofy, she went and got Daisy Duck to make her happy. She was attentive, but not overbearing or annoying. She deserves to be recognized and I hope this place appreciates her! Wish there were more people like her :) INSIDE: relatively roomy. There's a bar side and the restaurant side with some diner bar-style seating too.. so various seating options. They have a small "gift shop" in the middle/center, right when you walk in. Wow we were freezing after going through Yosemite on our motorcycles. The house says that I believe owner was quite gracious off of me. The heater turn it on we ordered food had hot drinks. It came immediately. The chicken tortilla soup was off the hook. Good that I ordered a turkey, bacon avocado sandwich. the turkey is cut fresh The sandwich was a heaping portion of fresh toppings prices were reasonable and the experience overall was great. Stayed at the lodge next door over the weekend, and went here for dinner and breakfast. Classic diner vibes - friendly and attentive staff, rustic decor, local beers on tap. We got the salmon plates, and meatloaf for dinner. Salmon was cooked to perfection, and the accompanying herb butter was delectable. The meatloaf had an enjoyable balance of meat, breadcrumbs, and garlic. The gravy that came with mashed potatoes was lit. The soups of the day- tomato bisque/beef barley were great appetizers on a cold night. The next morning we got a spicy omelette, the pancake breakfast, and french toast. No complaints. The omelette came with spicy salsa, and was peppered with tangy jalapenos. The french toast/pancakes were both fluffy as hell. The sausage patties were cooked delightfully. What a fantastic place near Yosemite! Was doing some consulting work at the Park and stayed nearby for work. Ate here once for convenience but came back two more times for the excellent service. The first server was a sweet college kid. She was great. The next day a fantastic young lady was my server for breakfast and was so amazing I came back for lunch. She was so professional and fast and efficient and just legendary. I will always think of her when I think about what excellent service should be! This classic Cafe near Groveland is a hidden gem for adventurers visiting rainbow pools or Yosemite National Park. The staff was very kind in offering us a table 10 minutes before close. We were very hungry and had the patty melt, meat lasagna, penne marinera, and chicken teriyaki. This restaurant does not miss! Everything tasted home made and was delicious. Eaten here twice recently! Once on the way out of yosemite and most recently on the way out. Firstly, there is a lot of parking and even EV parking available on the lot. Secondly, there is a WHOLE VEGETARIAN MENU! Both times I had a Beyond meat vegetarian burger - once a regular cheese and the other time one of the other burgers with the veggie patty switched in. So delicious and their french fries are 10/10. The meat eaters also LOVED their beef burgers - a huge hit. The restauratn itself is quite big, has a small shop for souvenirs too. Eating in - this was in July, we were seated but it took ages for a sever to approach us. Servers were walking by the chatting with other guests and it took awhile to get our order taken. Order for pick up - this weekend we ordered for pick up, calling 15 mins before arrival and when we got there we got our food made within a few minutes. Plenty of parking. When we entered, the staff greeted and seated us promptly. We tried the Beyond burger and the turkey avocado BLT. As we ordered we were asked if we wanted one of several side items - but we thought they came with the item we ordered (maybe we didn't read the menu well enough?). The Beyond burger was as expected - nothing they can do to make it wondrous. The BLT was really good as were the onion rings and the sweet potato fries. We also get a souvenir we p Ike's added to the bill. So when we got the bill we found there is an up-charge for using a credit card which we did not expect - we would have paid cash if we had known but now the card was already run. We were staying at the Westgate hotel (next-door) so this was a convenient location before heading out to Hetch Hetchy dam. This is a very busy café, but it has a comfortable old-fashioned atmosphere and capable staff. There is a section in the middle of the café where they sell various souvenirs too! :) The food quality is similar to what you would find in a diner. Nothing fancy, but it does the job. My husband enjoyed his meatloaf and I thought this was a place worth checking out! I enjoyed the experience. We stayed right next door while visiting Yosemite and this was very convenient for a hot breakfast. Staff was quick, efficient and friendly as we placed our take out orders. We ordered: Two eggs scrambled with potatoes and toast Two eggs over hard with potatoes and toast California omelet Everything was great. My favorite was the California omelet which had pickled jalapenos (I'd say it was the extra oomph factor!) along with onions and tomatoes and a side of salsa and sour cream. Shoutout to Amy. We were on our way to visit the National Park for the first time in a decade and this place, Lucky Buck Cafe, had literally turned our day around. Being a visitor from out of state, during the summer, I had no clue that Yosemite required reservations. So we found ourselves here connected to Wifi and a warm meal in our systems after driving 6 hours one way only to find ourselves with an additional 6 hours to wait until the park opened without reservations lol. But to go back to the review of Lucky Buck, the Breakfast Burrito was so bomb and was able to take the rest home for dinner later that evening. I can not express how amazing this place is! Family and I rented a lodge next door to this place and I sent my husband to buy some burgers from here late at night.
