The girl who was my carhop was extremely friendly and polite. She was so kind! She embodied customer service in all ways. I waited about 30 minutes give or take. I've been here once before years ago, and I remember the prices were cheap and it's still affordable for the most part. I remember trying the one in 29 last year, and it wasn't that great. Today, I got the junior cheeseburger, the peppers, and the spicy steak and bacon grilled cheese. I would recommend this place for a date so that you can talk while you wait and it's probably best to order in advance! Honestly, the burger tasted better than the sandwich, strangely enough. Unfortunately, I had to pay full price for a double burger because the restaurant ran out of the "jr" meat. The order-taking experience lacked clarity; after finalizing my order, I was presented with a payment screen abruptly, without a total or acknowledgment. The pretzel was the softest, most delicious pretzel, we have ever had from a fast food place. The tater tots were crispy and salty and delicious! Absolutely the worst sonic for the last 5 Years. Service majority of the time is extremely slow. Sonic blast are lightly sprinkled with the toping and not at all blended into it. I ordered two quarter-pound double cheeseburgers with just meat and cheese. After waiting for 7:08, I was given two quarter-pound double cheeseburgers with pickles, ketchup, and mustard in addition to what I wanted on them. Once I notified the carhop that they were incorrect, she assured me it would be fixed. I'm not sure what happened, but three minutes later the employee came back and handed me the exact same burgers. I don't mean a burger that they tried to fix by taking off the pickles and giving it a new bun; it was as if she set it down inside then brought it back out three minutes later. Thankfully, the manager gave me two correctly-prepared burgers shortly thereafter and was very courteous. And the burgers were delicious! The quarter-pound doubles are $2.69 each before tax. At McDonald's, I can get two quarter-pound doubles for $3.50 ($0.94 cheaper per burger). Not a great value. - Food quality. Then I pay 6 dollars for this tiny 4 inch burrito so I open it up to make sure it's actually the 6$ "ultimate" burrito I payed for and all that's inside is egg, literally 3 bits of bacon and a glob of cheese that's not even melted. The food here is not good. We got two of the Hawaiian chicken sandwiches and they had little to no sauce, and the chicken was chewy. The lettuce looks days old and it was not well put together. Can't blame low staff I counted attests 5 different workers. There commentary when I requested faster service "don't worry I didn't charge you for the shakes" when I already purchased the shakes about 40 min ago. Would not recommend! Everyone in San Onofre knows this location sucks but obviously continue to go because it's our only on base option. Nonetheless, I have had it after our last meal. We rarely eat fast food and save it for the evenings life got too busy to cook dinner, which happened to be last night. It never fails the food is always warm, if that. Orders are always wrong, the wait takes FOREVER, just overall it's an awful experience. We have tried to just get drinks before and sat waiting for 20 mins. If you want slow service, your order done incorrectly, cold food and melted ice cream. This place is for you! I used to go through the drive thru. But I would wait 30 minutes for a plain kids cheese burger meal. To which it would come fully loaded and not how it was ordered. On the few occasions we would go, the orders would be wrong. Every time. Then I tried ordering ahead. To which I got blue Powerade instead of ocean water. My friend and I have been sitting at this sonic for OVER AN HOUR, when he ordered 5 chicken tenders and I ordered a medium popcorn chicken. The parking lot isn't packed, and I've been told "5 more minutes" and that was 25 minutes ago. This is ridiculous, if they are short staffed then they need to hire people. I've been here several times and the service here is a hit or miss. I always tend to come back because I try to see the positive in every situation and I've only experienced a bad encounter with a carhop once. She was clearly the only carhop bringing out food and it was busy, I get it. I was very friendly when I proceeded to tell her that my son's meal was incorrect and asked for the correct item. Her body language and tone was as if I had just inconvenienced her. Again, I brushed it off and was very nice and thanked her for bringing out the correct meal. But besides the carhop, the timely delivery of your order is always more than a 5 minute wait. I ordered a drink once at the drive thru and timed it from the time they took my order to the time I received my drink and it took them 10 minutes to get me a drink. 10 minutes? It was a strawberry limeade for crying out loud and took me less than 15 seconds to order the drink. I've even been there when there were only three cars in parking lot and still took over 10 minutes to get my food. I just don't understand what or how they're training the employees and who in the heck oversees this place. Today, we stopped by again. I was dubious but we were not eating anything so how bad could it be by just getting one shake to share? We waited and waited to get help. Then another extended wait just to get the one shake. Insult to injury the employees could not figure out how to use the gift card that their management had emailed me. This place is a complete disaster. They insisted the gift card should have an expiration even though they are reading the email with the gift card and I am telling them that gift cards, by law, do not expire.
