Got so many ads on socials so I had to give it a try! I decided to swing by with my family while they were in town. We came by got happy hour and enjoyed discounted beers along with their oyster specials. The beer was cold and oysters were fresh from Louisiana. We also ordered calamari and chicken fingers which were both good! The service was great! Folks are very attentive from the parking lot to the hostess and waitress! The vibes are pretty cool too. The restaurant is mostly outdoors but there are fans blowing so it's not too bad! They also have a stage for live music. Overall I had a great experience!
Excellent fresh seafood and amazing service. Went on Friday night and it was a vibe, your true Miami dancing and singing and seafood vibe. Their lobster was excellent!
After living in the area for years, I had never tried Sonia's Seafood. I finally went with my family, I'll admit against my will, and I was pleasantly surprised by the food. There was a 30 minute wait to be seated. We initially asked for the seafood sampler, but our waitress told us it wasn't available. Oddly enough, when we ordered several of the items from the sampler individually, they were all available, which was a bit confusing. We ordered drinks, the margarita was well made, and the appetizers were fresh, flavorful, and exceeded my expectations. The service was on the slower side, although our waitress was friendly and did her best. Midway through the meal, it started pouring rain, and things became chaotic. Several guests had to move tables because parts of the outdoor seating weren't covered, and the roof had multiple leaks. It was an uncomfortable experience for those affected and took away from the overall atmosphere. So, is the food good? Yes. Was the overall dining experience enough to make me want to return? Probably, no. Good food alone isn't always enough when the service and dining environment leave something to be desired.
On a very wet and rainy weekday evening, we stopped into Sonia's Seafood for a quick and easy dinner. We started with drinks and listened to the rain, followed by an order of Stuffed Plantain Cups to share - crispy plantain covered in a bright tomato-y shrimp stew. I ordered the shrimp and yellow rice and it came with three sweet plantains on top. I also got a side of black beans - a bowl of deep, salty beans, a perfect contrast to the bright shrimp and rice. If you're looking for a big dinner of stick-to-your-ribs plates, try Sonia's Seafood!
If something seems too good to be true, it probably is... Honestly the service was great, they were empty tho but!!! when we came it was completely empty.... Monday-Thursday $1 oysters, honestly that's all we came to try, and let me tell you .... don't fall for it. Oysters were bitter, dirty, i mean basically green, i couldn't even swallow one lol. I completely spit it out, and gave it three different shots. We were using our cup of water to clean them i'm talking DIRTY! however, the croquetas were good and fairly priced, and really delicious orange juice tbh!!!
We got 2 lobsters for the price of one; it's pretty good. The whole fried fish satisfied me. The only thing was that the waitress doesn't speak English, so we had a little bit of difficulty ordering with Google Translate. The vibes were impressed me. Additionally, I saw a crocodile when I was in the floating raft!
What a cute nice place to have dinner on Monday night they have two lobster tail for the price of one and it was actually very delicious. They have nice Music, nice view and very pleasant atmosphere. The lobster bisque soup was superb and the flan was delicious
As soon as you get out of your car there is a park attendant that has an umbrella opened to make sure that you don't get wet from the rain. I ordered a Sonia's Seafood sampler and it was a great choice. My favorite part was the grilled shrimp. My family and I chose the seafood fried rice and I had to ask for Camila the server to remake the food because it had way too much soy sauce. I wasn't a fan of this meal and she didn't look like she wanted to return it to have it remade. I would have liked for them to ask me if I wanted something else but it wasn't suggested. I didn't like the fried rice. I did like that there was live music and the gentle man sings great. They have a portion that you can buy fresh fish but I noticed it was overpriced. The parking is free and nearby the restaurant.
This is my family and I first time at this restaurant. I like the concept of it being outdoors on which the day was breezy and it was raining. The food was ok here. The appetizer that we ordered was Sonia's Sampler. We ordered the Seafood fried rice and it had too much soy sauce. I told our server that the rice had to much soy sauce. This restaurant has that you buy fresh fish . Btw the 15% is automatically included in your bill. The price of food is decent. On Saturday they had live music. Overall the experience was good by the food quality could be better.
The ambiance was amazing! Especially the music. The service was good also. You can pick which fish you want them to cook and how you want it cooked. The food overall was good, but unfortunately the fish that we had was a little overcooked because it was a little dry on one side of the fish.
So happy we found this little gem only a couple miles from the Doubletree we stayed at pre-cruise. Open air and such a friendly neighborhood hangout vibe. You could tell many of the guests were repeats. Pedro Daniel was our excellent waiter and was so friendly and attentive. Thankfully he recommended the Corvina grilled and we loved it. Started with a beautiful Ceviche Mixto and oysters on the half that were perfect. What a nice surprise too, that on weekends they have a Cuban gent singing. He was wonderful. As we left, I noticed the Market part of their business and was able to buy my 2 bottles of wine for the cruise as well as a bottle of Flor de Cana for the hotel room. Great prices too.

The service....well I had higher expectations because most employees there are my people- per se. Hispanics are more vibrant with big smiles and great laughter. However, the waitresses appear to be pressured instead of comfortable dealing with the public. The server was much more gracious than our waitress. The band definitely brought up the energy we were hoping to find. I had the Churrasco sandwich; I had to ask for the chimichurri sauce. The mahi tacos appetizer appeared to have had a salt spill. Other than that, the white and red sangrias were pretty nice. I hope with a repeat and with a more enthusiastic waiter/waitress.
This place would be a 4 star with this simple fix, have more comfortable tables and chairs . That's why I stoped going. The chairs are uncomfortable and the tables to small

It's a seafood establishment, so naturally, seafood is their specialty. I'm not really a seafood girlie, though, so I ordered the churrasco instead. The lunch portion was hearty and a good size. It was good....not great, but good. Then again, it's a seafood restaurant, so I wasn't expecting prime quality steak. The ambiance, however, was great! Nice music playing at a comfortable volume, friendly staff, and an overall really pleasant vibe. I'd definitely come back for the atmosphere alone! read more

The only reason I'm not giving this a 1 star review is because our servers were amazing, the atmosphere was actually pretty cool and the appetizers were at least decent. My wife, mother-in-law and I decided to come here after a evening of shopping. I was excited as I was looking forward to eating some good seafood. However, after some good appetizers, our time there took a sour note. We had ordered a paella, but were left absolutely disappointed. The paella was pure tomato sauce. The seafood was all overcooked and rubbery. The rice was severely undercooked. There was absolutely no other flavor to taste besides the tomato. After speaking with our server and the manager, they knocked the paella off our bill. Again, if not for the staff and appetizers, this would be a 1 star review. If we had to do it again, we'd only order the appetizers as that's what it seems like works best here. If you enjoyed your time, amazing! I'm glad because I know this place has been around for a very long time. But until next, folks! Enjoy the meal!!! read more

Absolute best place to get some fresh red snapper for frying or grilling. I wanted to grill some snapper and looked around a few places in Miami and the prices were overly steep, way more than for a prime steak....didn't make sense to me. Here the fish are big, fresh and delicious, my family and I agree it's the best fish they've ever had. There's plenty of seafood on display here as well as a restaurant in the back. The place may not look like much on the outside but let me tell you - there's treasure inside! Service was great, they helped me select three red snapper, about 1.5 lbs each, total cost was about $61. Will be back! read more

This restaurant makes you feel like you're by the beach or in the Keys (I even saw sunbathing iguanas). They have a beautiful outdoor seating area with a band and a seafood market. I came during lunch and the lunch special is excellent - $12 for an entree, two sides and a fish soup. Unfortunately, our server forgot our fish soup but the entrees were large enough. The food itself was very good but the service was a little slow, especially since it wasn't that busy. Parking is a bit of a struggle as well since the restaurant is on a Main Street. I would definitely return again, probably on the weekend so I can enjoy the live music. read more
My husband had never been to Sonia's. I had gone many years ago with a friend of mine. My husband is Cuban and loves to support local spot so we decided to go in and give it a try. They have redecorated since I came a few years ago, and there was a lot of Covering from the sun, which was good. They had a deal for five beers, which was pretty decent so we took advantage of that. The restaurant had flies buzzing all over the place, which is not appetizing. My husband ordered an entire fish that he was able to pick out. The fish was prepared. Well, he did like it. I had shrimp which is OK as well. This place is very pricey for the location and what you're eating. We spent $200 on just the two of us which is what I expect to spend when we go downtown or to the beach not on eighth Street. The service is what you expect at any of these local Cuban places a little ratchet, but it is what it is. I'm not sure if we would go back. read more

I purchased a fish from the fish market side. Same day fish seemed to have a very strong odor and was very dark. After cooking the fish it was definitely not fresh. Fish tasted horrible and must have been kept out of ice all day. Would never purchase fish at this place again. The price was too good to be true. The knife would not even cut this fish read more
