Had such a wonderful dinner at Song' e Napule (Rutherford NJ) location. We had the eggplant parmigiana (YUM!), calamari fritti-tender and Perfectly fried and not greasy.-and the special gnocchi cacio e pepe with tartufo as appetizers for the four of us. Then I had the branzino, and it was cooked to perfection. Even the roasted potatoes were excellent. And side of broccoli rabe so simple and delicious. . My husband had the polpo and it was super tender. My sons had the filet Mignon special and the salmon special with butternut sauce. Everyone was happy. Cocktails on point! For dessert the four of us shared a Tiramisu., which was one of the best I have had. We also had the Coccole (fried dough topped with Nutella). These were awesome. Sort of a zeppole. , but not greasy and heavy. It was like soft pillows of dough. I'm so glad we forced ourselves to have dessert--such a sacrifice LOL. The whole staff was so welcoming and gracious, from the moment we walked in the door, and throughout the night. Very attentive staff ! And what made the night super special for me was that we met the owner- Ciro. He was so kind and sweet. He even took a pic with us. We will definitely be back !! Can't wait to try the other locations in Manhattan. read more

the reviews and rumors are true, this spot is legit. its classy enough for a date or a celebration, but casual for a random lunch (which is what i did). outstanding service, quick too! we grabbed the margherita pie. dont kill me, i didnt love it. but this is 100% personal. why? too much flop. its very thin, thats the style, and too much flop for me. however, the cheese is superior and the flavor of the sauce and crust itself is what got my high score. my date LOVED it, it was up his alley, but i just prefer a bit of a crunch. get the tiramisu, its perfect! just enough espresso flavor comes through, the mascarpone is smooth as it comes. read more

I was very excited to come here for my birthday dinner, but it was really subpar and ruined my night. The ambiance is pleasing to the eye, and the food is "okay." The service is terrible. My friend and I were seated in the corner, and given menus right away. Not much of a greeting or hello. We browsed the menu for about 10 minutes before deciding what we were getting, and then we waited another 10-15 minutes for our order to be taken. We eventually had to flag down a waiter. If it had been very busy and crowded, I would have been more patient, but there were only 4 mid size tables of occupants, and one of the was on dessert. We ordered the Scaloppine Di Pollo and a Margherita pizza. The pizza (which this restaurant is known for) was tasteless and boring. The sauce had no flavor, and I only managed two pieces to be polite. The Scaloppine Di Pollo was FANTASTIC, and I would order that for take out any day! The chicken was super thin, the sauce was delicious, and the potatoes were sooo yummy. The broccoli rabe was also very good and not bitter, which can happen. We wanted to order dessert, but once again, terrible service, so when we managed to get hold of a bus boy (who was the kindest staff member the entire time) we asked for the check. Prices are acceptable for the sub par quality customers are supposedly getting. I'd prob come back for takeout for the chicken dish, but I would never dine in again. Street parking, no lot. read more

Before we sat down the server informed us about the 90 minute dining policy. Not exactly what I wanted to hear but I respect it! Food came out quickly but in a good pace. The pasta dishes are generally smaller portions. But the salad, the calamari and the pizzas were plentiful! Overall the dining experience was great and we will be returning. read more

We started with one pizza Bufalina and instantly were blow away by the dough - amazing. The owner came by and recommended dishes for us so we got the spaghetti scarpariello and another pizza, this time the Diavola. Everything was tasty, fresh, and high quality. From the outside it looks cute and intimate, and inside it is just that. It's an intimate spot with a lot of vibrancy. The service is great and the tables are set up really well for the space. They have so many options, each as delicious as the next. I have been there for a girls night, date night, and going away dinner; each time, I have left full and so happy with the meal. The prices are very reasonable especially for the quality & authenticity of each dish. For appetizers, we had the Pomodorini Salad and the Octopus. The arugala was crisp and fresh, the shaved parmesan on top was so complitmentary & the octopus was on point! For dinner, we did the white based, Pizza Burrata, and it was phenomenal. The flavors matched up wonderfully and the pizza dough is light and airy. For dessert, we had the Nutella Panna Cotta, which was awesome, a perfect end to the night. Can't wait to go back. read more

Best Italian food I have had here in the US... our waitress was not that attentive, started by telling us what they didn't have instead of telling us about the specials, we heard they had specials from the other waitress serving the table next to us, ordered eggplant parmigiana for appetizer and forgot to bring it, the waitress serving the other table stopped and put the order in for the eggplant...we also wanted to order nutella pizza for dessert, it was 7:59pm and our waitress told us they had no more dough...not sure if that was the real reason, their food and ingredients are top, service was eh...I didn't get the other table's waitress's name that also helped us with the eggplant but she was a very pretty african american girl! Pricey but worth it!! read more

Sleek storefront, greys all over inside and out with, oddly, nice velvet chairs. First thought...pizzeria and velvet. So, off the bat...interesting. Server super sweet and timed her appearances well. It looked as if she was serving the entire dining room (not that many tables, but spread out) and getting bussing help from the hostess and a kid from the back. Non-stop kitchen guys disappearing out the door and reappearing with whole prosciutto, boxed pastas...figured they must have storage nearby. The menu. Bring your reading glasses and settle in, my friends, because one thing SEN loves to do, it seems, is extoll the virtues of their very (very) many ingredients, explaining in painstaking (or, just painful) detail the provenance of every.single.ingredient. Lovely and educational, but when you want to order a pizza, the novella just went on...and on... We settled on 2 appies: Fried Calamari and Meatballs (3). Both good. Would I come back specifically for those items? No. But they were okay. Smallish amount on the cali, but points for the tentacles and the batter. $20 Meatballs and Italians are a touchy subject. We all know our nonnas make them best. But, these were moist and flavorful. However. $16 for 3? Ouch. Mains: Sausage/Broccoli Rabe personal pizza w parmigiana creme. Let's talk about that first. Big news of course is the magical 00 flour. My beef with it is the crust is way too chewy, and the bottom of the pie is superthin and sopping wet. No matter where we go for pizza. I love a thin pie, but the crust, for me to like it, has to have some balls to it. The 00 pies, not so much. However, that parmigiana creme was intensely good, the sausage was very tasty, and the broccoli rabe was cooked perfectly. The raft it came on...meh. $23 The showstopper here was the spicy salame deep fried calzone. We are suckers for deep fried calzone and will travel to enjoy one. SEN's was an odd shape, we wondered what kind of deep fryer they were using...and the filling didn't go end to end. you had to cut in 3" on either end to hit the filling but once you did, my my my. The dough was almost zeppolesque. The aroma was heady and we worked that calzone like it held a cure for something. $22 Overall, I would go back for that calzone, and try their deep fried pizza, because...fried... $98 +22% tip -- maybe skip the appies.... Don't forget to tip. read more

Ambience: beautiful space with a lot of light and great colors. It is a very cool modern setting. Service: it is an Italian pizzeria, not just an Italian American place. They are from Campania, the soul of Pizza land. They are very nice and competent and also very hilarious, which always helps. Food: indeed one of the best Pizza in all US. They have few competitors. Great dough, soft but not too fluffy. Recently they also added wines, which is great even if they still have BYOW. However their Liter Sangiovese Gioventu is spectacular. read more

This pizza is very light, made with great ingredients and the best in NJ and NY (they have another location in Manhattan). When I want a fantastic pizza, I come here. Made like the ones in Italy! Since the flour is imported, if you have gluten sensitivity or intolerance, you won't get sick from it. It's not like American or Canadian flour. I can't have gluten but I am able to eat this pizza and not get sick. Granted, if you are used to NY or American pizza (including Chicago pizza) and you like that kind better, then that's a personal choice. But this pizza is made the way original pizza is made by the people who invented it. I highly recommend coming here or ordering from here. read more

Went on a busy night with a reservation, took at least 15 mins to be seated. Gave us bread and oil which was super delicious. We ordered two pies ( the bufalina and porcini ) which a caprese and Cesar salad. The salads were great, the bufalina had great flavor but after sitting a little was super soggy and couldn't even be lifted up to eat. The porcini was super oily and soggy it was pretty gross and couldn't eat it. I wanted to love it but I just couldn't. We ordered a Nutella pizza to go which was absolutely amazing! So happy to have a Neapolitan style restaurant close to home! Pizza reminds me of what you'll have in Italy- ingredients are fresh and delicious and sized as personal pies. Highly recommend the Tartufata pie, incredible truffle flavor! I noticed many of the reviews discuss the price point- yes, the menu is pricier than many of the other Italian restaurants in town but it's to be expected. The quality of the food is incomparable to some of their competitors and that comes with a premium I think is worth paying. I hope people get over the sticker shock and not only help keep a place like this around in Rutherford, but to encourage more quality eateries to come to town. read more

The BEST addition to Downtown Rutherford! Chic, intimate vibe with stunning interior design showcasing their fabulous pizza oven and open kitchen. BYOB of course! We had the Tartufata pizza to share to start and it was perfect - loved the truffle flavor! The Paccheri Genovese was outstanding. Perfectly al dente with big, tender chunks of meat. Quite possibly the worst pizza I've ever had, and that is saying a whole lot...I had the Margherita Pizza and the Paccheri Alla Genovese I had it ordered as take out and when I brought it home, it was ALREADY cold. Like very cold, which is hard to do since I live 2 minutes by car from here. The Paccheri Alla Genovese was horrendous. I don't know if the sauce was supposed to be sweet but it was overly sweet, like having pasta with sugar coated on top of it. The rigatoni was significantly undercooked....and it was just difficult to consume because of the sweetness which messed with my head. The Margherita pizza...very bad, cold, bland, and is overpriced. There was literally 2 leaves of basil on the pie, which granted isn't a large pie but c`mon, for these prices I was expecting top quality pizza that is authentic. The pizza itself was so bland, all you can taste is literally the sauce and it wasn't even tasty. I will give it another try in the future but this experience said a lot to me. read more

Give them some time to get their act together. Don't try to get in a minute before they open. They'll make you wait outside in the cold. It took 20 min for the waitress to come for our orders. Appetizers came out 15 min apart. They charged $18 for pasta and butter for a 3 year old. It took 10 min after finishing coffee for dessert to come. The pizza is good, but head down the block to eat something else if it isn't a Sunday. read more

Went there last night by accident while walking down the street with my GF to go to another restaurant. I stoped and looked in and saw the the traditional pizza oven from Italy. We walked in and asked how long the wait was since it was packed. He said around 20 min so we decided to wait. Wile waiting we opened our wine and it made the wait more enjoyable. While talking to the manager we found out he was from the same area in Italy as me and my GF. We finally sat down and ordered the Tartufata Pizza, 3 Polpette Al Sugo and Polpo Alla Luciana. All were of excellent quality with a minimal wait time. The taste was some of the best food in northern New Jersey. Highly recommend it and it's a BYOB. This will be a regular spot for us. read more

Stumbled upon this place one day and stopped for a bite. They have some tables set up outside so we ate outdoors. It's on a main street so there is some noise but it works. Lovely Neapolitan style pizza place in the heart of downtown Rutherford. Stars of the show were the Pizza Sorrentina, octopus salad, and meatballs. I've tried most of the Neapolitan pizza places in the area, and this is top tier. Big plus is that the menu has lots of additional non-pizza offerings, which isn't always the case. The food is every bit as good as the original on Houston Street! Service impeccable! Looks like they have a few more menu options. The atmosphere is more subdued. Not quite as jovial (some might say raucous...) as Houston street. But nicely decorated. Wonderful for a date night. We had the gnocchi alla sorrentina and eggplant parmigiana and polpette to start. Each was expertly prepared. Flavorful. We than had the classic pizza napolitana for the anchovy lovers delight! And the pizza diavola with the spicy sausage. The crust was nicely charred. The sauce tangy and sweet. True Neapolitan pizza. All the dishes lived up to the gold standard of the Houston street original! For now it's BYOB and there's an excellent wine and liquor store across the street. Ciro and his team are friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit or two or three or more! read more

food good but service poor. Felt unattended and then when they did show up, felt rushed. Had to ask for more water .... And a strange man occasionally looking over our table but not offering any assistance. They even asked us to leave quickly while we were putting on our coats bc patrons were waiting for our table! We had 5pm reservation and left by 6:30 so it wasn't like we were over staying our table time. Loud music, not Italian, sounded more hip hop dance music, kills the atmosphere. We asked for them to turn it down a bit, but it seemed like the kitchen staff preferred it that way. Disappointing, will not return. read more
