I saw how clean and comfortable her room was, so I felt confident about my decision to check-in. The hotel staff is really efficient and the rooms are great enough to live in temporarily if necessary. A standard room comes equipped with a dishwasher, dishes and glasses and utensils. The living room area is nicely designed. My bed was sooo comfortable. Slept like a baby. I really felt "at home." The hotel has a laundry room and gym in the same section. I was able to wash my clothes and hit the treadmill while everything was in the dryer. Detergent and fabric softener are complimentary. There's also free coffee in the lobby-fresh coffee. I actually stayed for two nights. If I'm hanging out in that part of Jersey again, I'll stay at this Hilton brand hotel and I'm getting in some time at the swimming pool.

Welcomed for those of us worried about cleanliess. One nit, the wall in the shower was cracked and the hotel at night during my one night stay had a motorcycle that rev'd his engine at 5am outside my window. Otherwise it was quiet and peaceful. Breakfast is served in the lobby, and while it was busy with people - the server made sure everyone had what they needed, and that everything was reloaded for service when running low. Agree that there are lots of restaurants nearby (one across the street) and I had a good stay and can recommend Fairfield Inn & Suites in Rockaway.

I truly have nothing but positive things to say about my stay. The management team also deserves recognition, particularly Assistant Manager Anzio Rezende, who went well beyond the scope of their role to ensure I was properly assisted. When I was looking for a hotel in the area I did a bit of research and learned this homewood was recently renovated. The lobby is very nice and inviting along with the light color furniture selection and window detailing in the rooms. Homewood hotels always have a more spacious layout since they include kitchens and a living room area in either a studio or bedroom format. There is also a basketball court outside, an indoor pool, and 2 pelotons in the gym (per my coworker) for those that want to remain active during their stay. There is also onsite parking which I hear costs money from other reviews and I was not told that so waiting for that bill to come through... Now for the lack of cleanliness... I walked up to my room and there were 2 lady bugs right by my room number. I walked in my room and there was one on the wall. Since ladybugs can be an infestation, I figured switching rooms would not fix this. It was also late and I didn't feel like running around town to find another place to stay. Upon settling into the room I started finding hair in various places of all color... brown, blond, black, curly, wavy, and straight. My coffee table had a sticky spot on it, clearly not wiped throughly. There were brown/black spots on the ceiling and cabinets. I found a random pair of socks in the stairwell on my last morning as I was leaving. Also the cherry on the cake... my shower took FOREVER to heat up, to the point I thought it wasn't working. I made up my mind that I would suck it up and take a cold shower then check out first thing since I was exhausted and didn't feel like getting dressed and packing. Luckily as I was rushing to take my shower it started to get a little warmer and finally on the verge of hot, so I decided to stay another night and letting it run for 10 minutes before getting in (I would be pissed at this water bill if it were my actual home). Didn't remove a star for this but I do wish there were more takeaway options for breakfast like fruit. I grabbed a yogurt which worked but maybe some hotels are not doing fresh fruit anymore to minimize waste? I'll be staying here again soon since for longer trips my coworkers and I tend to need a kitchen to cook fresh meals (I hear the knives suck and my coworker bought her own) so I'll see if I just got a bad room or if the lack of cleanliness and lady bugs is consistent....

Housekeeping: At the front desk, they stated that housekeeping is not automatic, you would need to request it. Fine by me as we usually don't utilize it. I'm (unfortunately) staying for 4 nights, so yesterday early morning, just around 7am, I requested that they clean my room. I left, and returned about 4:30pm. It was untouched!!! They said they could send someone to clean when I complained,, but at this point I had a long day at work and needed to get into my room to relax. I wish there was a closer hotel to our office. Now I know why other people in my company choose to stay at the Hyatt or Archer. I'll book the Archer from now on. It's a few minutes further away, but it's just a better hotel.

Positives: convenient to the convention center, there were no bedbugs and the staff is very nice…read moreright up until you're checking out. Negatives: basically everything else. I checked into this hotel and was told parking my car for three nights with their valet service would cost 350 dollars. I know this was during a big event at the Javits Center, but even so,116 dollars a night for garage parking is crazy, bordering on extortion. The garage just down the street charged a quarter of that cost. The ladies at the front desk were polite and friendly, and that's about the best experience I had at this place. I checked into my room, which I booked at this hotel because I have celiac disease and rely heavily on meal prepping and cooking my own food when traveling, because most local restaurants, vendors and shops just aren't an option for me. So I needed a hotel room with a microwave, small stove and decent sized fridge. The fridge was leaking water when I arrived. The microwave was broken and despite me calling down and asking the front desk to look at it (and them promising they would "send an engineer"), they never did send anyone to fix it. I moved the chair to sit down and do some work, and there was a fully exposed electrical outlet jammed right up against a curtain, just waiting to start a fire. The room was old and the furniture banged up. A lot of the drawers were badly jammed and hard to use. The cabinet doors over the stove were broken. There was hair in the bathroom. The "kitchen flatware" advertised included two spoons, two forks, two butter knives, one steak knife with a broken handle, one butcher knife, a large plastic spoon and no spatula, but instead a kind of grilling meat fork. Most of the things in the kitchen had been put back dirty and had to be washed before use. The showerhead barely functioned at all, making showers next to impossible, and there was no hot water on my second morning there. I made the best of it out of necessity and checked out at the end of my trip. I showed the woman at the front counter a picture of just the electrical outlet (zoomed in, without any context for it) and she immediately identified it as being "the one behind the chair", so they already knew about it, but just didn't bother to fix it. This is a MASSIVE fire risk, and a hazard to anyone staying in the room with small children who might stick their fingers into the wall space around the socket and get electrocuted. I mentioned the microwave had never gotten looked at and was broken during my stay and the lady at the desk simply ignored me, turned away and said nothing until I left the hotel. I would recommend staying at this hotel only if it's your absolute only option.

The only issue I had was the Airbnb listing had a different price for the daily fees than what I actually paid at the counter. So either the airbnb listing description needs to be updated or I was overcharged by the front desk staff. Deducted one star because of that part of the experience. The room itself was clean and quiet for my one night stay and the Wi-Fi worked reliably. would stay again if looking to be in the area.
