I have never been more nervous than I was walking into Sona this morning to get lip filler for the first time. I was anxious for both the pain and the results. Jamie at the front desk was extremely welcoming upon arrival. Ashleigh the injector was absolutely incredible. She listed to my concerns and assured me all would be okay and even assured me that I did not have to move forward if I wasn't comfortable. Sona seems like most clients come here for hair removal, however, I came here for 3 sessions of Venus RF laser with Melissa and couldn't have been more pleased with the results. I had always assumed Sona was too expensive for me and only purchased a laser groupon for another spa but had a horrible experience there. I've had a completely different experience at Sona. I called for the free consultation and loved the girl that worked with me to discuss the different packages that she has definitely sold me on being a repeat client at Sona. If you think this is out of your price range, you should definitely go in to talk to them about their payment options and I think you will be very pleasantly surprised. I have had a good experience with this location but my most recent experience has left such a sour taste in my mouth. I came to sona in 2011 and was treated with the yag laser. I suffer from an endocrine issue and had to come back for treatment in 2016 due to the return of hair on my face. This time they let me know they have a soprano diode laser and not the yag laser. I was hesitant to spend over $3,000 for something I had no prior experience with and hadn't heard about, but they had delivered in the past so I went for it. A few treatments latter I noticed the hair was not slowing growth and he treatments appeared to not be working. I let someone know and they very no nonchalantly dismissed my claims. The yag laser is the industry standard for dark skinned people so I'm not sure why they stopped carrying it. Overall I will never give sona any more of my hard earned money when they don't stand by their product. There are plenty of hair removal companies out there that will try to correct the problem instead of trying to hide it. If you are a woman of color looking for treatment I would recommend finding a location that has a yag laser, and staying far away from sona. read more

I bought a 5 treatment IPL for my sister. When she called to inquire about pricing they told her about this big sale and asked for a credit card number to hold the pricing. My sister gave them my card info and they charged $30 and then 2 days later the cost of the IPL. When we told them about the $30 charge they demanded to see the credit card statement, so my sister printed it and showed them 2 charges 2 days apart. They claimed to have NO record of the $30 and refused to credit my account. They also didn't give my sister detail instructions on how to treat her skin after the IPL nor did they follow with her to see how she was doing. No happy at all with this place. Sadly treatment has been paid for so now we just have to finish until she is done. But we are not buying any more services from them read more

I was undergoing treatments at this site when I had to unexpectedly move out of state. The city I moved to also had a Sona Med Spa office. This Glen Allen office advertises that treatments can be transferred once to another Sona office. I have spent the last 3 months trying to transfer my service, and have not been successful. The office administrator, Ginny, has been ignoring my emails for the past two months and will not give me an explanation as to why. I wasted the payments I made for the treatments as it appears I will never receive them now. I seriously regret working with this office. read more

This was a complete waste of about $1000 for laser hair removal. I was purportedly the "perfect candidate" based on skin tone, hair type, etc. After the first few treatments didn't work one of the technicians said "Oh, we should have been using this other type of treatment!" Well, that didn't work either. After the last treatment I asked to speak to the manager, who was nice, but could offer NOTHING in return for my no result treatments. I would have to call corporate. Nice #empowerment, Sona! Also had one very strange technician and the woman at the front desk screwed up my first appointment and did not seem to have her act together during several other encounters. I have since gone to another place with good results, so it was truly a Sona problem. Oh, and they also fed me the "this almost never happens", "it does say in the contract", and grilled me about what I must be doing wrong.
